Combat Master Report #5 - ACC Supplemental Society - Combatant Release

header

Hello everyone! Today I am pleased to announce the release of phase one of the ACC Supplemental Society. Just like the amazing Envoy Corps, this society has been designed to reward members along two activity paths (Combatant and Judging), as well as some bonus incentives for rising to the top of combat championships. All of this information is also available on the wiki’s ACC Guide, under the ACC Society page.

This first phase is purely based around the Combatant side of things but you will be able to see what's coming for the Judgment awards on the wiki page. You can expect another report detailing that same information when it is released. The new judgment system is a lot of heavy lifting for James to get done, so it will roll out once that is complete. It will be retroactively giving points to people who have done ACC Judge work in the past, so for those of you who have, expect some nice things when that launches in the future.

Avatar: The Last Fist Bender

First up is the return of the “Avatar of Strife”. Per instruction from the Grand Master, this has been implemented as a unique, earn-once trophy. It will be awarded quarterly.

Avatar of Strife: With Elo no longer being a thing for the ACC, the Avatar of Strife Trophy will be awarded based on a new formula.

(Total Matches - Matches you cause a Timeout Closure) * ((2 * # of Wins) + (1.5 * # of Losses) + Closed matches you didn’t cause the timeout on)

After experimenting with many different formulas I settled on one that incentivized winning and completing matches without timing out on your opponent. With this formula, you still will get credit for matches where your opponent times out on you, but will penalize you for being the one who did time out a match.

There Can Only Be One Champion

Championship events are the big ACC capstones, be it ladder or bracket. There have been some slight changes to the awards for winning a Championship: First place earns the dossier title of Combat Center Champion, is granted the possession item Champion’s Gauntlet, and takes home a winner’s purse of 5,400 credits.

Second place earns the dossier title of Combat Center Gladius, is granted the possession item Champion’s Bracer, and takes home a winner’s purse of 3,600 credits.

Third place takes home a winner's purse of 2,400 credits.

The winner’s purse credit values are twice the value of winning a Gold, Silver, and Bronze Nova.

As always completing any match will continue to award credits and Clusters of Ice per total words written.

ACC Supplemental Society - Paths and Points

Having received the same instruction from the Grand Master as the Envoy Corps, the structure of the ACC Society should be very familiar to anyone who enjoys the lovely RP system we have.

There are two paths of the ACC Society, Combatant, and Judge. Again the Judgment path is held off on release until the new system is coded and in place but is retroactive to judgments made beforehand.

Society Trophy

The Spoils to the Victor trophy is earned by completing ACC Matches as a Combatant for Combat Points.

ACC Stats

The long-term goal of all the ACC changes is, of course, a more active and lively ACC. This society stuff will hopefully provide some good incentives to keep up the fun combat for many years to come. As this is a major advancement for the ACC changes, Bubba really wanted some stats to be included on where we’ve gotten to this point.

These stats are based on an equal time length between when I started making changes on November 10th, 2021, so between then and 4/30/2023 (when James was able to pull numbers from the database for me) and back to 5/23/2020. I also ignored the values from SARLACC as that was a special ACC event, which none have been run since (though expect a championship sometime this year!).

First up, we saw an increase of 58.6% in matches that were judged in this time frame. This is a pretty significant jump in total matches, a trend I hope we keep seeing with this supplemental society being available.

We also saw the number of unique participants jump from 32 to 42.

Finally one of the most telling and shocking changes is the average time to judgment from the last post going up. Before these changes, we were sitting at an average of 31 days, 1 hour, 51 minutes. The current average time is 9 hours, 45 minutes.

I want to give a special shout out to Socorra for doing the art for both the trophies and the ACC possessions. Also big thanks to Anubis and #TeamRegent for getting the possessions up and functional. And of course a massive thanks to James for taking my ranting and implementing it.

With that, I hope everyone enjoys the new fun things available with the ACC.

First! The Thrill, I can hear it...Dalinar Kohlin!

Taking home the gold, folks. Mark my words.

Guess I better start ACCing again.

Very Cool! Thank you!

I’ll fight you Idris over the Mother in an ACC match now.

More things I must acquire!

Every other society going "Wait, we can do that?"
