The Preliminary Round of ACC Championship: Revival came to a close yesterday evening. There were some really great matches within! For anyone that would like to read up on the troubles the combatants got into within the Arx Asylum, you can find all completed matches here. I thank you all for your participation, and I hope that you enjoyed yourselves and the new venue. With the Preliminary Round complete, I will be giving everyone about 24 hours to catch their breath and then we will be starting the 1st Round of the brackets/ladders. Let's take a look at the results for each tournament.

Masters Tournament Results

16 people entered, 12 continue on to the first round. Since there were 4 timeouts, the bottom four competitors did not receive a score. This is mostly inconsequential, since in the Masters Tournament we were never at risk of eliminating anyone unless they timed out due to the number of signups. As you will see in the results below, there were some ties. There was a three-way tie for first, and everyone who was timed out on received a score of 0 (but will move on anyway). In order to rank everyone, in the case of a tie the members with the same score had their names entered into a randomizer to determine their order in the rankings.

Since there are 12 participants and the ladder/bracket is for 16 people, the top 4 will receive byes in the 1st round. The remaining 8 participants will face off in the battles noted below:

• Terran Koul vs. Rajhin Cindertail (Turel)
• Celevon Werd'a vs. Adele Valreyes (Lucine Vasano)

Beginners/Intermediate Tournament Results

25 people entered, 16 will move on to the 1st Round. Since there were two timeouts, and since that was of consequence to this tournament due to the number of signups, I judged the posts that were written by Narman and Blackhawk (who were timed out on) and assigned them a score as if their battles had completed. Narman scored an even 4, and Blackhawk scored a 3.85. The Top 16 that will move on to the 1st Round are noted below. Again, in the case of a tie score, the participants names were randomized to determine their rank.

Next Steps

As noted above, I'm going to give everyone about a 24 hour break before moving on to the 1st Round. This serves a few purposes. It allows those who just completed their battles a bit of time to relax their brains and prevent burnout before moving on. It also gives us some time for the participants listed above to assess whether or not anything has changed that would render them unable or unwilling to continue in the tournament. If anyone needs to voluntarily step out of the tournament prior to the 1st Round, please email me or reach out to me on Discord before this time (9 AM CDT) tomorrow. If I do not hear from anyone, I will assume that everyone is good to go, and we will get moving.

In addition, it has been made abundantly clear to me that some people really strongly dislike having first post in alternative-ending matches. This is another area where rank will have its advantage. Take a look at the matches listed above. If your name is on the left side of the word vs., that means you are the higher ranked of the two combatants. This is going to entitle you to what I'm calling "home venue advantage". If you are the higher ranked in your match, and you would like to post second, please contact me in the next 24 hours and I will ensure that you post second.

Conclusion

Take a quick break. Prepare yourselves for the bracket. From this point on all matches will be single elimination.
