Good evening, the Chamber regularly reviews the Covenant and the current operating state of the Brotherhood to ensure alignment. During this review, Left Hand of Justice Korvyn drafted an amendment to the Covenant to account for the utilization of Experience Points.
It was further recommended by Lord Dacien Victae that we amend the trial option sections to ensure trial by Justicar could be utilized in situations of Experience Points removal as part of the potential sentences that could occur.
Justicar Kamjin "Maverick" Lap'lamiz sponsored the Amendment on behalf of Korvyn. After 48 hours of discussion amongst the Electorate the vote was called.
With 100% of the Electorate responding the Amendment passed with 18 affirmative votes, no abstentions, and no dissenting votes.
This section was modified to include reference to 'loss of experience points (XP) and/or negative XP'. The new section in full is below with the change bolded.
(i) Choice of Trial – Upon entry of a plea, the accused may be offered the choice of type of trial, depending on the range of proposed penalties. For all charges in which the proposed penalty is a maximum of a one-grade Equite or Elder demotion, a two-grade Journeyman or Novitiate demotion, a Letter of Reprimand, one year probation, loss of experience points (XP) and/or negative XP, or a combination of the above, a Trial by Justicar will be held unless the Justicar determines that it is appropriate to offer the member an option for a Trial by Jury. For all other charges, the accused will have at least 48-hours to choose between Trial by Justicar and Trial by Jury. In the event that no choice is made by the accused, a Trial by Justicar will be held.
This is a new section added to the penalties list which indicates clearly that loss of experience points may occur to enable the enforcement of any penalties outlined within Section 7.07.
(w) Loss of Experience Points (XP) – To facilitate the implementation of any penalties outlined within Section 7.07 the Justicar may remove experience points (XP) from the member's medal, lifetime, and/or exclude the ability to accumulate non-site XP.
These were necessary changes for the Chamber to ensure transparency to our members that the loss of experience points may occur if the Covenant is violated.
I'd like to thank the Electorate for their discussion, questions, and support of these changes to the Covenant. As of ~7:00pm central this evening the Covenant has been amended publicly.
