[Ektrosis] Aedile Report #1

An Unlikely Leader

Knight Justinios Drake’s Jumpmaster 5000 rocketed through hyperspace back towards Coruscant. For the first time since joining Clan Taldryan in the aftermath of Karufr’s destruction, the academic turned Jedi finally had a free moment to return to the Core and collect some of his personal items. While the astromech he was assigned from the fleet stood watch on the bridge, Justinios meditated silently in the ship’s lab. As soon as the ship had been acquired, the former professor spent almost all of his credits to convert a large section of the cargo hold into a semi-respectable laboratory. In this space, the Aleena was now using the Force to carefully manipulate his most recently acquired samples. Before he could finish the experiment, the door to his lab shot open to reveal the blue and green cylindrical form of L4- M3.

Beep-beep-boop, boop-beep, beep-boop-boop.

“I told you not to interrupt me until we reached Coruscant. Unless this ship is breaking apart I don’t want to hear from you until then.”

The droid rolled away but was only gone for a few moments before the lab door opened again.

Beep-beep-boop, boop-beep, beep-boop-boop.

“Bleep blop bloop at you too!” Justinios replied in frustration. “Now I am going to have to restart this entire experiment over so unless Sheev himself has returned from the dead and is trying to give me the original blueprints to the Death Star do not bother me again.”

Once again, the droid rolled away but was back even faster than the last time.

Beep-beep-boop, boop-beep, beep-boop-boop.

“L4 how many times do I need to tell you that I… don’t… understand… binary!” The Aleena was getting fed up with his droid companion. Having the assistance of an astrodroid was useful, especially on long flights, but Justinios had the sneaking suspicion that this specific unit was long overdue for a memory wipe. In fact, the Aleena was sure that the unit got some sort of pleasure out of bleating and blatting at him in droidspeak knowing full well the blue-skinned Jedi couldn’t understand a single sound.

Beep---beep---boop, boop---beep, beep---boop---boop.

Justinios sighed, “Saying it slower doesn’t help me understand it any better. Stop being difficult and just plug into the ship somewhere. Might I suggest the bridge, where you should be anyways?” The astrodroid rolled off while making what sounded like self-satisfying giggle. Knight Drake walked over to the datascreen on the wall that was connected to the ship’s computer and watched as the red letters displayed the message L4 was trying to convey.

COMMANDER RHYLANCE HAS BEEN ON THE LINE FOR A WHILE WAITING FOR YOU.

Justinios sped up to the bridge while growling to himself under his breath. “I swear that droid tries to make my life miserable on purpose, he intentionally kept the Commander on hold.” Reaching the bridge, the blue-skinned alien took two deep breaths before activating his communicator. The cerulean, semi-transparent image of his Consul was now floating above the ship projector.

“Knight Drake,” the Chiss commander stated, “I do not appreciate being left waiting for so long.”

“I am very sorry Commander we were having some technical difficulties.” With a wave of his left hand, he used the Force to press the deactivation switch on L4-M3, shutting the astromech down before it could chime in. “Things are functioning properly again here now, what can I do for you?”

“I want you to be the new Aedile of House Ektrosis.” The conviction in the Chiss’ voice made it clear that this was not so much of an offer but an order. “You are to recover what you set out for on Coruscant and immediately return to the fleet.”

“I accept,” Justinios replied even though his acceptance wasn’t requested by the Commander, “but I have one demand.”

The Consul’s eyes constricted, “What is it?”

Justinios, allowing his gaze to drift over to the deactivated form of L4-M3, simply stated, “I want to be assigned a different astrodroid.”

Official Introduction

Greetings Everyone,

I am honored by having the opportunity to serve you as the Aedile of House Ektrosis. I am sure my name is new to many of you but I am excited that we will get to have some fun pretending to be space wizards together (and space pirates, space soldiers, etc)! There is one thing I want to accomplish during my time as Aedile and that is for us all to get the most enjoyment we can out of our membership in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Taldryan and Ektrosis are sub-units with storied histories and I want to do whatever I can to continue that tradition while also making sure we are having a blast in the process.

To help with introductions I want to share a little about myself. My professional background is in human resources and employee benefits. I have spent my entire adult life in some form of customer service and as far as I am concerned that is perfect for this role. My goal is to do whatever I can to make membership in House Ektrosis a rewarding experience for us all. To that end, if you ever need to bounce an idea off of someone or even just vent for a bit don’t hesitate to reach out.

Things are heating up within our virtual walls. The multi-event competition that is on right now to celebrate May the 4th is made up of a lot of quick hitting competitions, fun and easy ways to get some credits in the old account. Additionally, our cross-clan event with Clan Odan-Urr “Desperate Measures” starts on Monday and if you haven’t yet [sign up here]. Lastly, there are rumblings on the street that a Great Jedi War might be breaking out later this year and that is always a great chance to earn some shiny bits! If you missed it, there is an upcoming clan-wide ACC tournament to earn the right to represent Taldryan in the GJW ACC tourney, if you haven’t signed up yet you can let Rhylance know or just keep an eye out for the competition when it starts.

It is going to get nice and busy here these next few months. I look forward to getting to know and work with you all. Feel free to drop me an email or send me a Telegram message, I am pretty much an open book and love to chat.

Stay smart Ektrosis!
