About Me

Hello everyone. I am your newly-appointed Aedile. It is truly an honor to be among you awesome dudes and dudettes! Before we start on the heavy stuff, here's a bit about me. I joined the club 8 years ago. I've been in several Clans over the years including Clan Exar Kun and Clan Tarentum. I was recruited back into the club during the last Crusade byClan Taldryan...and what an awesome year that was! After a few months, once the Crusade was over, I went off to Arcona for a bit of a change. My stay there was great and I made some good pals, some of whom I still like to bother on Telegram just for the heck of it (Hi Wally!)

Recently, I saw an open position for Taldryan's Aedile. I sure wanted to apply but what stumped me was that I lacked in experience. I've not been a BTL before or anything. But Kaiju Rang motivated, helped and practically egged me on to apply for it. What I learned from that is truly your rank does not matter. If you want to make a difference, just holler! There is no dearth of opportunities. Today, I'm really thankful to the Clan leadership for having chosen me. It's its an honor to be serving you all.

In the DB, I love writing Fiction, the ACC, doing SA courses and the occasional quiz and puzzle comps. Unfortunately, I don’t have any games.

Aedile's Address to the House

I know Rian's going to post the Quastor's Address in a few days, but till then I'd like to share some thoughts with you all. Some of the issues/problems I was told about when I got the office of Aedile was that:

• House membership has fallen
• We are losing members to other units
• There are fewer submissions and participation
• That the House Wiki needs some serious revision to give our unit an identity
• We need to develop new leadership for our House and Sub-units

Perhaps, things may seem a bit dismal on the practical side. Or maybe, things seem even more dismal with the fact that we are now facing a change/lack of identity on top of the Fictional bonnet-whooping defeat by the Iron Legion. Perhaps it is both. But here I'd like to say something.

What makes one a Taldryanite?- Taldryanites never give up. We keep pushing against the proverbial wall until it crashes down. Or we drill through it. Whatever! If things look bleak, we lie low like the serpent only to rise like the phoenix! Right now, Taldryan, and therefore Ektrosis, is going through a lot of changes. But that's a good thing! It means that YOU can be part of the change. Down the line, you shall get loads of opportunities to develop as a leader and to have a say in the development of our units. This is one of the most exciting times to be in the Clan. One of the ideas I offered as part of my application was to implement a novel way of developing new leaders. Sure, it'll take time, and only the active ones can be chosen for the program, but it will happen!

What makes one a member of Ektrosis? - Our House has had a rich history of legendary participation and has given the club great leaders. It's time to resume that awesome tradition. Participation is important. I say do what you love, but feel free to try something new as well. Do you like Fiction only? By all means jump into every fiction comps you can, but you can also try some easy Flash and Quiz games too. Do you like gaming only? Try Fiction for once. You might turn out into a fantastic writer. Above all, have fun.

What makes a Unit strong? - A common identity shared by every member, be it unit lore or history. When we know what we stand for, we can face anything together. One of Rian's and my work shall be to overhaul the House Wiki, to bring you an identity. And best of all, all of you can participate it! You guys get to suggest what kind of back story you want for the House. Leadership does not make a unit, its members do. Leaders just implement that. In the DB, we’re pretty democratic. We are as strong as our members make us. And I know that together, we can be stronger.
