Exarch Report 19: Pong
Arx Minor
Envoy Corps Headquarters
44 ABY
“Kyo” sat quietly in the containment cell he’d been placed in, awkwardly fidgeting with his bone-white fingers. His face was hard to read, as it resembled a humanoid skeleton devoid of any skin. His eye sockets were hollow but filled with inky darkness, the same as his thin nostril holes and when he opened his mouth to speak.
Givins, Marick Tyris Arconae thought, filtering through what information he had gathered about the species since the expedition team had found the unique survivor of a derelict ship. Kyo had been awoken from stasis and, thanks to the help of the Envoys that made the discovery, agreed to come to Envoy Corps Headquarters to tell his story.
The Exarch stood in his formal attire and with his hands folded behind his back.
The Shroud was focused on Nancora, which Marick had, perhaps subconsciously, been ignoring for fear of falling back to a version of himself he had left behind. The Collective were up to something, and while he was no longer on the Council, his role as Exarch kept him tethered to its concerns, especially with Thane—er, Darth Renatus—ascension to the Throne.
This was exactly what they didn’t need right now, but both Deputy Grand Master Idris and Masahiro, the new Voice, had indicated that this new development was exactly what the Envoy Corps had been founded to handle.
Marick sighed internally, but his practiced demeanor revealed nothing but a calm visage.
“Thank you for agreeing to be held here. Our medical staff have advised this for your protection while they run some labs.”
“I understand,” Kyo responded with a high, nasally voice. “As your ‘Envoys’ have explained, you are not with the Imperial Empire, and therefore deserve a chance at trust. I will do whatever I must to receive your aid to our cause.”
Marick blinked once, but then nodded his head. “Right. That’s what I’m here to speak with you about. You have been made aware that the ‘Empire’ collapsed nearly 44 years ago, correct?”
Kyo nodded emphatically. His expression was hard to read otherwise, even for the Exarch’s discerning eyes, but he was listening as much as he was looking at the Givin’s reactions. “Joy to the galaxy if this is indeed true,” he said. “However, our situation has become more dire and I fear time is short if my calculations are correct.”
“Alright. But in order for us to help you, you need to help us. Start at the beginning and tell me what you can about this Khor-Val system,” Marick asked, his low voice steady as if talking to a wild creature.
Kyo bowed his head and then began to talk at an accelerated rate.

New Story Route Unlocked!
The excerpt above sets up the Exarch Staff driven storyline we’re going to use to connect the upcoming Envoy Corps-themed objective RPs and RP competition prompts.
Instead of trying to keep up with the macro plot of the Brotherhood, or to compete with the other societies and Clans for screen time, the Exarch Staff is launching a new storyline that is fully optional and will be accessible to all members that are interested. There is no “time table” on it, and the central story will be ongoing and based around the newly discovered system: the Khor-Vala system.

How the Envoy Corps interacts with this new system will be driven by member choices/decisions in RPs utilizing this storyline. We’ll also be building out and expanding the politics, quirks, and other worldbuilding elements with input from members that choose to engage with the content.
All members will be encouraged, as well, to use the sandbox to run their own RPs if they’d like, and as a reminder the Exarch Staff is always here to help tag in as a Co-DM if you need some help getting your idea off the ground.
Speaking of Exarch Staff...
Open Positions

I wanted to thank Bril for his work on staff. Due to real life preventing him from spending the time he would like supporting the RP community, Bril has stepped down from the position. We’d love to have him back in the future should his time better allow it and we’re grateful for the work he’s done for the community.
That said, we always need more advocates for RP activity.
We’re looking for additional staff to help with the Exarch’s mission. For anyone that misses hearing me talk in different chats on Discord, I’ll summarize it real quickly here: the purpose of the Exarch is to promote and support Role Playing activity in the Brotherhood. My primary goal is to make sure everyone is able to easily run and participate in RPs, and that everyone has a good time. Outside of that, however, there are some administrative challenges, housekeeping, documentation updating, and of course, managing my staff of awesome people. Now is your chance to join that team and lend a hand to our goals.
The most important thing I’m looking for in our next staff member is a desire to contribute to creating more RP opportunities for the club. I don’t care what rank or experience you have, just that you have a passion and desire to make the RP Society one of your primary focuses, beyond just joining RPs as a player.
- While I’d prefer to get a member not already on multiple staffs, or high-level Clan leadership, everyone should be encouraged to apply if only so I know you’re interested.
- You will be expected to help create RP activity by either: ** Co-DMing for members that are excited to run something but might need some extra support. ** Running your own RPs targeted towards the entire Brotherhood.
- You are expected to be a champion of RP activity, encouraging others to get involved, and answering questions about policy that people might have.
- Process and review RPs as they are finalized.
- Contribute to policy and project discussions.
- Bonus points if you’re not afraid of using the Wiki to help with the Envoy Corps and its associated pages.
If you are interested and think you can do the job, apply. Even if you’re not selected, it shows interest and lets me know that you want to possibly be involved in future things.
As an additional benefit, members of the Exarch Staff automatically accrue Golden Envoy Marks during their tenures on staff. This is done because you’re expected to be helping run and organize RP activity for others.

Exarch Report 18 was named "Ping", with my clever plan being that the follow up report would be called "Pong". I guess that ball was bouncing for a few months before landing here. Sorry about that.
As winter closes, and I get more balance and stability to my work/life ratio, I’m looking forward to leading more by example with running RPs. I can’t unlock the code to inspire everyone else to do the same, but I will continue to try and add resources, create guides, and share any knowledge/experience I have to continue to make the Brotherhood a fun place to roleplay your original characters.

Does the Exarch office still handle gathering anonymous feedback and helping to highlight membership issues? Or where does that live now?
