Gaming Battlepass System – Q1 2026 Launch

This report officially announces the launch of the Gaming Battlepass System, a quarterly recognition and award framework designed to recognize sustained participation, competitive performance, and community contribution across supported gaming activities.

The Battlepass replaces the existing GMRG Quarterly Leaderboard award structure. Opening the opportunity for members to earn awards based on their individual contribution and activity.

The Q1 2026 Battlepass will run concurrently with normal gaming operations and requires no additional actions beyond activities already supported by the Gaming office.

Design Intent and Ongoing Review

The Battlepass System is designed to:

  • Encourage consistent participation across every quarter
  • Reward both competitive success and organizational effort
  • Provide predictable progression without encouraging unhealthy play patterns
  • Scale appropriately for both casual and highly active members

The system will be reviewed at the conclusion of the quarter. Adjustments may be made based on participation data, administrative review, and community feedback.

For more information on the breakdown of earning points, the tiers and what rewards are available, please see the GMRG Battlepass Presentation

How Battlepass Progress Is Earned

Battlepass progress is earned through the following approved activities:

1. Clusters of Fire

  • All Clusters of Fire approved via gaming submissions will contribute to the Battlepass.
  • All existing Cluster of Fire rules and submission requirements remain in effect.

2. Competition Participation

  • Members earn Battlepass progress by participating in approved competitions.
  • Participation values scale based on competition tier, ensuring appropriate recognition for higher-tier events while maintaining accessibility for all members.

3. Competition Placement

  • Additional Battlepass progress is awarded for placing in competitions.
  • Higher placements provide greater rewards, with values scaled by competition tier.

4. Competition Organization

  • Members who organize competitions receive Battlepass progress in recognition of the effort required to support and maintain gaming activity.
  • Organization rewards are capped to preserve balance while still meaningfully rewarding contributions.

All Battlepass values are tracked automatically and reviewed by the Gaming staff to ensure consistency, accuracy, and fairness. Where applicable, caps are applied to prevent excessive weighting from any single activity category.

Battlepass Reward Tiers

At the conclusion of the Battlepass period, rewards will be issued based on the highest tier achieved during the quarter.

  • Tier 1: Initiate of the Guard – No Award
(Entry tier reflecting participation below reward thresholds.)

  • Tier 2: Centurion of the Guard – 2,500 Credit Bonus

  • Tier 3: Praetorian of the Guard – GMRG Battlepass Item Token

  • Tier 4: Crimson Sentinel – 2,500 Credit Bonus and a GMRG Councilor Item Token

This creates the opportunity to earn GMRG-specific items at Tier III, as well as the opportunity to earn Councilor items, encompassing not only current Councilors, but also items associated with past Councilors.

Recognition and Thanks

I wanted to make sure to take time to recognize the significant effort that went into making the Battlepass come to life.

  • Turel: The initial concept for the Battlepass took shape during the closing period of Turel’s term, where he laid the foundational groundwork that allowed the project to come to life. Throughout the process, he also served as a valuable sounding board for ideas and helped ensure we remained aligned with the original vision.
  • Arch: Arch stepped in on multiple occasions to review my work in detail, ensuring not only that the mathematical framework was sound, but also that the design stayed practical and effective. More than once, he was willing to say, “No, we’re not doing it that way,” and then immediately followed it with clear, constructive alternatives that helped overcome obstacles.
  • Vyr: Vyr and his staff did exceptional work providing new images for items, badges, and other assets. All of this was conceptualized by Vyr himself, as I had little to no meaningful input to offer on the artistic side. I cannot adequately express how much I appreciate the time, creativity, and effort invested here.
  • Thran: Thran and the Regent staff repeatedly came through for this project by providing rewards, assisting with tier setup, and offering valuable feedback. They also went above and beyond by creating new upgrades and crafting options specifically for GMRG awards.
  • Zuza: Acting as my Praetor, Zuza not only kept other projects moving while I focused on the Battlepass, but also contributed their own ideas for upgrades, items, and overall design, which significantly strengthened the final product.
  • James: None of this would have been possible without James. He provided consistent feedback on the overall design and created the framework for the quarterly badges that will be used going forward, forming a core structural component of the Battlepass system.

Admin and Policy Reminders

All current Gaming and Fist Policies can be found on the Gaming Information page. I encourage all members to read this page, as it contains valuable information. I will ensure this page remains updated to reflect all current office policies.

Other Items of Note

  • Submitting Screenshots for Others
If you are submitting screenshots, make sure they only include instances where you yourself are present. It is important that members know how to submit their own screenshots when needed, and this helps avoid confusion about why someone might be submitting on another member’s behalf. While this is not a common issue, it recently arose when a member submitted screenshots for their group. Going forward, this will result in remands.

  • Review Your Submissions Before Submitting
We have recently seen an increase in submission errors. Most of these are minor, such as the number of games not matching the number of screenshots, or a player's name not being listed on their dossier. While we do our best to catch these mistakes, we encourage the community to take a moment to review their submissions. Please ensure that:

    • The number of screenshots matches the reported games.
    • Competitions are properly selected.
    • All active members have their gamer tags listed on their dossier for approved gaming titles.
(Only rogues will not receive a remand for missing gamer tags.)
  • Submission Processing
The staff has 24 hours from the time you submit gaming activity to approve it. If your submission has been sitting longer than that, there is likely a problem. If it hasn’t, there’s no issue. The staff works hard to process gaming submissions as quickly as possible, but remember, they are real people with real lives. I do not expect them to sit behind a computer all day processing submissions, and neither should you.

  • Solo Submissions
Solo submissions are never acceptable for Clusters of Fire. My staff and I will reject any that come in. You must play with at least one other DB member—no exceptions.

  • Proposal Submissions
While I appreciate proposals and great ideas sent via Discord, please email the staff list (the email is provided at the bottom of this report). I also ask that your House and Clan leadership review your proposals before you send them up. This isn’t to add bureaucracy but to ensure your leaders are aware of your efforts to improve the Club. This also helps with award and promotion recommendations. Feel free to cc your leaders on your email to me and my staff.
