Gaming Update #30

In this report... Tier 2 Platforms, keep or kill? PVP Score Weighting now live! Thanks James! SWTOR and Destiny CF Tables updated. Star Conflict to recieve PoBs and in game DJB Corps. Competitions, awards, and the sweet games I got for Christmas.

The future (or not) of unpopular Tier 2 Gaming Platforms (Bumped)

I'm still looking for feedback from members on how you'd like us to deal with Tier 2 Gaming Platforms which see little participation. I'm defining "little participation" as no one submitting anything for them over a 12 month period. So, to gather feedback in one spot I've created a Forum Thread specifically for this. There's been some pretty good discussion and ideas put out there so far on this, check out the thread. Please use the Forum Thread rather than the comments section of this report to provide feedback on this particular topic. Thanks!

SWTOR, CF Tables updated

This week we finished up adding in CF support for the new SWTOR Flashpoints and Operations. You may have noticed that the Submit Gaming Activity for these items has been updated, the wiki has been updated as well. Here are some basic guidelines for Flashpoints:

  • All Normal and Tactical Flashpoints all award 4 CF. Check the wiki to ensure you are meeting level range requirements.
  • Level 50 Hard Mode Flashpoints award 2 CF. They are available up to Level 55.
  • Level 55 Hard Mode Flashpoints award 5 CF. They are available up to Level 59.
    • Note: Level 55 Hard Mode Flashpoints are no longer available in the Group Finder once you hit 60, which is why we capped them at 59.
  • Level 60 Hard Mode Flashpoints award 5 CF.

The new Operations were added as well. We chose not to reduce any previous Operations CF values at this time and to increase the new Operations values to slightly above Dread Palace and Dread Fortress.

  • Temple of Sacrifice and The Ravagers Operations will earn 24 CF for completion in an 8 person party, scale up based on difficulty, and have an increase for 16 person.

PVP Score - Now Weighted by Platform

A few months back we started talking about the effects of the faster pace of Pazaak matches on PVP Score and Weekly Pendants of Blood. After some conversation and lots of tweaking on James part the site now allows PVP Score to be weighted based on Platform. For now the only platform which will not have the default weight of "1" will be Pazaak, which will have a 0.5 weight to it to match the match / time comparison I included a few reports back. However, in case anyone missed it:

  • Average Time to complete 12 Matches of JA: 1 hour
  • Average Time to complete 12 matches of Pazaak: 25-35 minutes

The easy explanation of what this means is that 1 win in JA (or any other platform) will be equivalent to 2 wins in Pazaak when calculating PVP Score. To be more specific, James used this formula to make sure previous scores were not impacted. No, that's not a joke image. Also, don't ask me what the hell it means or says I have no idea.

The PVP Score Weight change for Pazaak went into effect this morning. Previous scores should remain unaffected.

Diablo 3 - Season 1 end date

Blizzard put out some information this week stating that Season 1 would end no earlier than February 3rd. They also said we should expect to see a short break between the end of Season 1 and when Season 2 begins.

As I mentioned last report... expect to see a Competition related to Seasonal characters shortly before Season 2 goes live.

Star Conflict

The Star Conflict Competition last month finished with 45 gaming activities submitted by 14 members within the Club. We're going to be adding PoBs for this platform, stay tuned as we work out the final details.

We will be setting up a Corps for the Dark Jedi Brotherhood in game as well. Again, stay tuned while I work out the steps involved with that.

Destiny CF Caps

As I mentioned when support for CFs while playing Destiny came online, we've been keeping tabs on the amount of CFs earned through it. There are going to be a few changes in how this all works. The biggest change is that Story Missions will no longer be eligible to earn CFs. These missions are generally very fast and are outgeared quickly.

Next in the Gaming Submission Table we'll be combining Strikes and Raids into one category. This is required in order to apply a Weekly Cap to CFs earned from these activities. They will be capped at 210 per Week, matching Diablo 3.

The new Raid, Crota's End, will have its CF value lowered to match Vault of Glass. This raid is relatively quick, and the current CF award isn't in alignment with other activities.

  • Weekly CF Cap for Strikes and Raids: 210 CFs
  • Crucible Matches made up the minority of the reported activities and will not have a Weekly Cap applied at this time.

FYI: The way the site calculates a Cap is as follows:

  • Each Activity you can submit for can have a Daily Cap applied to it. For this example Strike/Raids will be 30.
  • If the CFs in a person's que for Strike/Raids exceeds 30 at the end of a day, the excess CFs get carried over to the next days awards. (36 CFs earned on a Tuesday. 30 will be awarded on Tuesday, 6 will be awarded on Wednesday)
  • EXCEPT for midnight (GMT) between Thursday and Friday, at that time the que clears itself of all awards. Then the week begins again. Its not a perfect system for a Weekly Cap, but its the best we've been able to get automated and has worked well for Diablo 3 for over a year.

January Gaming Competitions

January Gorefest

Will be in February. I'm moving this due to the GJW taking up most of the month and to allow members to focus on that. There will still be 12 distinct Gorefest events this year, I promise.

The part where I talk about the games I got for Christmas

Apparently I was pretty good this year. On top of my early Christmas presents (SWTOR and Destiny expansions) I got Assassin's Creed Unity, The Last of Us, and Shadows of Mordor for my PS4. Out of the group AC Unity has become the front runner for my preferred game to play. I'm a completionist in games, so there's something very soothing about running around a single player world and unlocking every chest / item. So I'll be adding CF support for it in the next week... I joke, no plans for CFs or Competitions for it.

Although juggling 6 games (don't forget Diablo 3) I really want to play is challenging at times, its not an unwelcome challenge. Hope all of you found your holidays to be just as enjoyable!

That is a lot of work. Great job Val!

Very interesting and informative.

Thank you, Valhavoc.

Val for president of gaming.

Oh, wait.

Great report! Very informative!

YES! go star conflict! PoBs may be tricky to add though.

Pazaak weighting has been a long time coming and it's just in time for the GJW. Yay! JA and SC2 ftw!

Even as a Destiny player I can say the CF adjustments and weekly cap are also a welcome change.

Great work Fist staff!

Awesome work, Val.

And awesome work, James. I have no idea what that equation is or means.

Awesome stuff Val. And James. Who apparently does complicated maths for fun in a Star Wars club. :D

I almost jizzed a bit at Assassins Creed CFs. Damn you, Val.

Awesome report as usual, thanks for holding the Fist office down like a boss.
