Gaming Update #36

Standard monthly report. ROC Rule Clarification project with the Justicar has completed. Details on other ongoing Fist Staff projects included, metrics for gamers over the last month, May's Competition run-down, some PoBs, and my upcoming LOA dates while vacationing with my wife.

Projects Update

ROC Rule Clarification (aka Operation "Play JST 4 Fun")

This project is now complete.

With the help of the Justicar we have updated the ROC to provide a more thorough explanation of Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Primary changes are examples to provide insight into what is being viewed as Unsportsmanlike Conduct and a clarification that these actions are considered as a whole over time, not isolated to a specific event or vendetta.

Check out the specific section of the ROC for all the fine print.

JA Rites of Combat - Swaying

The Forum Thread remains open for this particular discussion. Something I think that everyone who comments on that thread should read, before writing their comment, is this link to JK Hub and Mouse Movement Techniques.

Please hop on over to the Forums and discuss your thoughts on this topic.

Based on a suggestion made by Frosty in that thread, at this time I am planning on running a Sway-Friendly Tournament sometime in June or July, to allow members to finish up any school related responsibilities. Following this Tournament and after gathering members opinions on the swaying topic, once they've seen it first hand, we'll be making the decision on the ROC modification.

DBGaming, Gaming Nights, and Dbb0t

Coding remains underway for improved Dbb0t. We were near completion and hoping for a trial run this past week, but a few more bugs snuck in. Estimated delivery is the end of the month. Gaming Night PoBs have been updated slightly until new Dbb0t is fully operational.

A PVE Based Gorefest?

Still looking into this. No news yet.

Non-GJW Games/Platforms during a GJW

Nothing new here. We will still be registering a specific channel for GJW / Vendetta Gaming and challenges. ROC updates will be made to reflect this once we have an established channel.

The Tier 2 Chopping Block Gaming Platforms

On 22Mar2015 I included in a report that Alien vs Predator and Path of Exile were on the Near Retirement chopping block. Its been over a month since that time and no matches have been played on them, so have been dropped off the Tier 2 Gaming Platforms list.

Next on the chopping block are Call of Duty and Team Fortress. If there are no matches played on either of them within the next month they will be retired.

May Gaming Competitions

Gorefest - Now back on schedule!

This month's Gorefests will be run on the following dates:

  • Friday 22May2015 - Sunday 24May2015

Pendants of Blood

Starting 22Mar2015 the Weekly PoB has been awarded for matches from Sunday to Friday. A second PoB will be awarded for Saturday matches, consider this a "Gaming Day". Time will be based on GMT just like competitions, so Friday at 7pm EST the "Gaming Day" will begin and conclude at 7pm EST Saturday. Following completion of the Gaming Nights project this may change back to a Sunday-Saturday one per week reward. The wiki has not been updated with this new schedule for that reason.

  • 04Apr2015: Only 2 members competed, need 5 for PoB. This days matches will be rolled into the following week.

Fist LOA - 16May through 23May

I'm going on a vacation with my wife and (unless I find my iPod Touch) will not have access to anything internet or club related. Please direct all questions during this time period to Ernordeth. I will repost this News later this week before hopping on an airplane, so its not buried in my report.

I like the changes, but:

"As a final note, while unsportsmanlike conduct is prohibited, this policy is not meant to encourage members to report minor infractions. In other words, someone being a sore loser (or winner) is not the same as being unsportsmanlike."

Sure, you obviously handle things on a case by case basis in the context of the statements, like all things, but if you're going to differentiate between unsportsmanlike conduct and sore winner/loser, an example scenario is needed.

Looking for DBers to play Destiny on the PS4 with. Im in the DB guild but don't have anyone to play with. PSN name is DarthFunk420. Shoot us a friend request if your looking for someone to play with. Apologies if i've posted this in an inapropriate spot but it's kind of gaming related.

Would like to see a ToR fashion competition with the new Outfit Designer. Just saying. :)

Howie - good point. We'll look into including an example for that.

Torin - my best suggestion for you is to go to the Rosters Tab, then select each Clan and choose PSN ID. Send friend requests to everyone you see. It takes a while, but it's worth the time once done as there's a lot of people around PS4 playing Destiny. Here's an easy one though, add me. Valhavoc_DJB

Frosty - I'll take a look at this and talk with the Herald. This seems like a joint competition the two of us could run.
