Intro

Go big or go home, right? As promised, no one was safe! No Hutts or Pandas were harmed in the making of this comic.

Stuff

December is wild with graphics competitions.

First up is Muz’s Sketchmas take on Darktober, with a new drawing prompt every two days. Blink and you’ll miss one!

My own set, Merry (gfx) Sithmas is very experimental. Each week there is both a Multimedia + 3D and an AI Event. You heard that right. Not only is full-AI allowed for this one set, but placement is entirely dependent on it. Go absolutely nuts. It’s Opposite Month!

First place in each category of the series will receive a chibi of their character [insert fine print]. Come give these experiments some love and feedback so I know the viability and interest in them for future events.

Keeping in tradition with Darktober, we are highly encouraging members to post up their artwork in the Discord #art-chat to cheer and inspire one another. The event saw some incredibly interesting and creative takes on the prompts so I can’t wait to see this one!

Alongside these are a mix of Gfx+ :

Regent’s Life Day multi set that ends on the 10th, with some awesome rewards.

The Hat’s multi-discipline set as well as Appi and Cass’.

And because we allll love puzzles (can’t deny those war numbers) a freighter-load of them has been released at 5 per week all December. Not exactly graphic comps but you’ll definitely wonder about those bizarro-cutesy puzzle images.

Discord Art Chat

Unlike all of our other societies, the results of members’ work can be seen instantaneously, which allows for instant feedback and critique, bonding, and even in a couple of cases, collaboration. They’re also useful outside of DB for all those things the new Emissary will likely enjoy having them for. Sharing even basic doodles and using artchat is only win-win for DB, so don’t delay, start today!

Darktober Goodies & Graphics

Darktober was the DB's own #Inktober series, done with drawing prompts every 2-3 days for the month of October, each having its own competition. It was a fantastic and successful experiment with over 100 entries by the end of it. I can't even begin to thank everyone that not only participated but also published their artwork in #artchat.

Despite the ridiculousness of the “spoopy” toe fungus prompt, it still garnered 17 entries. I suggest going to visit all those awesome and creative submissions that I wish I could spoiler tag in this news post, even the cutesy ones.

Below is just a handful of the drawings entered for the series. There are more in this Darktober Album and of course all can be found in the competitions themselves.

The overall winners and prompts of the series is below, with 1st and 2nd place just a single point from each other. Because participation also net points, the more of them members did the more chance they had of bumping ahead of those that placed once or twice. So remember that for current and future competitions!

Have a Holly Jolly Sithmas

Have a great holiday and remember to try to find some time to maybe sketch on a napkin while avoiding awkward dinner conversations. Those mini golf pencils fit in a pocket and are great for those occasions. There’s always free drawing apps for smartphones if in a pinch for these competitions–the results might not be something to write home about, but it’s an accomplishment and some sweet, sweet credits.
