I want to once again thank everyone for the kind words, well wishes, expectations, and confidence as I step into this critical role within our club. I won't bore everyone with talking points, as I made all of them in my Statement and subsequent Q&A. Know that I hope to do right by each and every one of you, to the best of my ability. That doesn't mean things will always go the way people want, but I trust we will find a middle ground that works. I'm excited for what's to come, and the team is already deep into discussion on some of the ideas we have for the road ahead.

That said, I have to appoint a Deputy Grand Master, and due to my pick, I have to hire for a role that hasn't been open for quite some time. I have been warned I'll be doing a lot of hiring, so might as well start on D-Day.

Appointed to Deputy Grand Master: Idris Adenn

This was a difficult decision. I had a very short list of people I considered for stepping into the role of Deputy Grand Master. It's a position that requires a small level of insanity desire to eventually become Grand Master, the ability to challenge the position of the Grand Master in discussions, and to provide assistance in the oh-so-critical oversight of our leaders. I asked each of them for their thoughts on what they would do as DGM and, eventually, as GM. To say the responses were well thought out and insightful would be an understatement for each of them. I learned a lot. Had a few surprises too.

In the end, I had to pick one and seeing the state of the club and most importantly what I needed most in a Deputy and potential future nominee, I have decided to put that responsibility on Idris Adenn.

I am confident that I don't need to do the lengthy rundown on who he is, as Iddy is extremely active as a member within the club and has been here for a very long time, though not so long as to be ancient. His passion for this community is powerful and his commitment to it even as his very own body rebelled against him is worthy of respect. I am excited for his perspective and ideas, and the opportunity to watch him grow alongside me.

I hope you all offer your condolences congratulations and for the love of all the powers above please come up with a better ship name for us. Bubtra is hard to beat.

Now Hiring: Voice of the Brotherhood

We are opening Voice applications as of today, with the application period remaining open until end of day 2026/01/25. Applications should be submitted to the Deputy Grand Master (Idris) and myself. We will make the decision relatively quickly after applications close.

The Voice of the Brotherhood oversees many of our fictional systems with a huge impact on the experience of all members who interact with them. We have detailed responsibilities available on the Wiki article for the position, but please find some additional guidance and suggestions to applicants below.

Requirements

• No minimum rank
• Significant leadership experience
• Ability to work effectively on a team
• Clear understanding of the Character Sheet System
• Familiarity with the club fictional direction the past two years

Application Suggestions

• Voice is part of the informal Story Group that develops the macro plot for the club. As such, applicants should provide ideas they have for the fictional growth of the club, knowing that we are putting more emphasis on reacting to Clans as opposed to separate Macro/Micro worlds.
• The Fiction Center and DB Fiction Chat play a large role in how members keep up with the story and interact with the community. Suggestions for how to continue to foster this community are welcomed but it’s expected that this level of communication and engagement continue.
• Any proposed changes to the Character Sheet System would focus on “large scale” changes; it is an expectation that the Voice will continue to work on minor updates and clarifications.
• We are open to new and big ideas for the position, but strongly discourage any significant changes to the site that require shifts in coding.
• Idris and myself are very active writers, so know that you will not be expected to carry the full load of fiction for the club.
