Zsoldos Orbit
Miniature sized, blue tinted versions of Declan on the Draylshy’a, Arcia on the Panoptes, and Malodin'Tater on the mercenary fleet’s yet to be named Sabaoth Destroyer hovered above the control console in front of Mako. The last two weeks had proved to be quite profitable in concerns of information gathering.
“After consolidating and analyzing the information provided by the Clan members, we can confirm that Fero is currently without a Spymaster. They do however have an internal intelligence and security specialist, Varo Rook.” The tiny Arcia reported, her typical dry and professional tone strangely brought both comfort and a sense of nostalgia to Mako.
“They stand without a key position filled then.” Tater interjected.
“What about their diplomatic head?” Declan probed.
“Alenna Vhett has been left with minimal security personnel at Jarris Starport. Multiple indications point to a large number of traders arriving there over the next few days.” Arcia replied.
“Alone, overworked, and with minimal personnel. This seems like our opportunity to deprive them of a second leader. Is the Clan proper still with the mercenary fleet?” Mako cut in.
“The vast majority of us are still here.” Tater answered
“Where are their military forces?” Declan’s voice cut through and grounded the growing optimism.
“They departed together from the Ferosar system a few hours ago.” Arcia reported. As if answering the unasked question, alarms rang out through the Cabur’s bridge.
“Proconsul Henymory, a fleet just dropped out of hyperspace above Korus!” the navigation officer yelled out. “Confirmed, It’s Clan Fero. They’ve begun bombarding the surface!”
“Cortel, Malodin take the mercenary fleet and the Clan. Capture Fero’s Aliit’ka Keeper, Alenna Vhett. Alive if possible, dead if not.” Declan’s tone left no room for argument, no need for further explanation.
“We’ll hold their attention here as long as we can.” Mako spoke just before the communication feed to Arcia and Tater terminated. The Warforged Flotilla had been on high alert since the initial reports of Fero mustering their forces. It was almost a relief that they had finally made their move. A ping echoed across the bridge indicating fleet wide coms was active.
“All hands to battle stations. All fleet vessels surrender hyperdrive control to the Cabur. Initiating fleet wide jump once coordinates are calculated.” Mako paused for a moment, the fleet was already moving into attack positions. They had trained for this, prepared for this, Vizsla’s military proper was ready. The Navigation officer gave the thumbs up signal.
“Brace for quick jump to and exit from Hyperspace. On my mark, initiate jump.” The Warforged Flotilla vanished from Zsoldos’s orbit in unison, moments later appearing just within effective range of the Fero fleet above Korus.
“Fire at will, fighters and corvettes defensive screen while we close the distance.” Mako ordered as the Cabur’s Ascendant Composite Beam shot forth, piercing through a capital ship’s shield, mass driver and turbo laser fire lighting up space behind it.
Phase 1 of Great Hunt IX has finished. Phase 2 will run from February 19th through March 6th.
For Phase 1 specific competitions we had 11 unique participants and 35 entries between the 5 Phase 1 competitions. That is 25% of Vizsla participating in Phase 1.
Two members Malodin’Tater and Azler Wilder participated in all 5 competitions.
As it stands none of the positions are secure and could easily be overtaken during Phase 2.
