Guardian Corps Report #8 - The One Before Christmas

Guardian Corps

Seasons greetings to you all, whatever event you might be celebrating about this time of year.

There’s little to really go through this time, for reasons you’ve likely seen. There’s an event between us and Arcona going on right now, and we’ll get into that right below.

Oh, and here are some Die Hard gifs. I did say last month that it was a December thing, after all.

COU-ARC Seasonal Event

Surprised Alan Rickman

Between Clan Odan-Urr as a whole and Clan Arcona, we have a Christmas event going on by the name of Twas the Night Maybe Around the Twelve Days Holiday Special Spectacular. As titles go, we have had shorter ones.

If you’ve been on Discord you’ll have seen a bit about this a few times already, particularly when it comes to certain activities over others. If you’re worried about the length, please keep in mind, a lot of this is built for competitions which will mostly just last five minutes or so. That’s a lot of flash games, puzzles, and fiction events that can be done either as individuals or with groups.

My advice? Take a quick run on the flash games when you have a few minutes in the evening. They’re mindless, entertaining, and even if you don’t win that’s a participation point with a few credits to your name. Because who doesn’t like fake space money.

Welcome to Our New Members!

Potentially rude hello

We’ve had an influx of new and returning people in the past month, and I wanted to take a moment to highlight and welcome each of them in our report.

Revs

Draxion Durk

Dinos Bazaar

So, welcome to the Guardian Corps. The fleet and our assets are at your disposal for stories, we run gaming on the weekends, and let us know when would be the best days for poker and golf.

No, that last one’s not a joke, we have poker and golf games now. We’re just trying to sort out a day everyone can agree on.

Questions & Answers

A brief conversation

This is a pretty short one as we only got a few questions this month - because most of us are rushing to sort out wrapping presents or last minute work - but there’s actually a rather good one that’s worth highlighting here.

Celevon - “How much of a presence would you say that the Guardian Corps are spread out throughout the Kiast System? From a strategic/tactical standpoint, it makes sense. It's why one of my suggestions for the Consular Conclave side (As an example) be that they be spread throughout Solyiat, in addition to the Combat-Ready vessel we have in orbit, so to say.”

Essik - “Oh very spread out. We're not some single military regiment or garrison stuck on one world. While Daleem's certainly important as our headquarters and coordination area, so far as I'm concerned the House is more a support network for its members to pursue their own stories. After all, every person here is trying to build up their characters through gaming, fiction, or art, and I'd rather it was an asset to them more than a millstone. In-setting, I'm trying to treat this as something that exists as a broad organisation of individuals until they get the "Avengers Assemble!" message or its like. It's something that came up briefly in the last fictions, where both Houses were responding to a very abrupt local threat by just whoever they had on hand or could answer quickly.``

Final Words of 2022

Closing Statement

Well, that’s it for another year. 2022 has been both extremely chaotic and eventful for the Guardian Corps, and I thank all of you for staying a part of the DJB during it. Real life tends to drag us away for many reasons, and a lot of us are juggling with a wide variety of situations that demands our immediate attention, be it family events or, to give a personal example, extreme heat followed by freak lightning storms. We don't say it nearly enough as we should, but thank you for staying with us or, in many cases when life does drag you away and you disappear into the rogues, for coming back.

For all those still reading, be good to yourselves. Enjoy whatever time off you can get and make merry with the celebrations, be that from any religion, tradition, or even just celebrating the coming new year. And if you need any help with competitions, be it from proofreading or help in organizing a group, always feel free to ask in the Enclave.

Great report. That was a good answer to the question

Glad I could be of service with a good question. In the pattern you've started, I'll sign off with a quote from that, my favorite holiday film... and your third from last gif.

"Now I know what an easy bake oven feels like."
