Herald Report #9: One More For The Road

Introduction

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. At times I have found it hard to believe that it has been damn near three years since I started my time as Herald. It feels like just yesterday that I took the job in a lot of ways, and that's not just the eternal now-ness talking. But, even at the last, there are tasks to take care of, recognition to deliver, and even pretty arts to showcase. So, without further ado, one more report for the road.

Recognition

The first thing I would like to do is recognize my current staff for the excellent work they have done across the last year. Aliasy and Rian have been absolutely fantastic with the work that they have done, both in terms of quality and quantity of what they have produced. Along with work they have done in their respective clans, I have awarded both of them for their efforts on my staff with an Amethyst Kukri each. They both represent two different "demographics" of the Brotherhood, a new member that just passed a two year anniversary and a veteran that's got over a decade under their belt, but both have demonstrated unceasing excellence. I know that leaders often encourage other members to review the recommendations of those they have awarded, but I think in this case it rings more true than most. Many of the current members have work that has been created by both of these two currently on their own dossiers. Take a few minutes to view what it is they've done, they've earned it.

In addition to the pink pig sticker above, I would also like to single out Alaisy for one last honor. Most of the other members of my staff over the years have themselves been Elders, able to adorn their dossiers with custom robes by nature of their rank. Alaisy is not, and yet she has produced robes as both selectors and custom robe requests for members across the Brotherhood without the ability to have a set of her own. That ends today. As such, I am awarding custom robes to Alaisy for her service to the Herald's Office. Wear them well (and, hopefully, have fun making them?)

And, alluding to former staffers above, I would be remiss if I did not thank them all for their service in this my last report. Zevon Morgai (Kris), Maximus Alvinius, A'lora Kituri (Moro), Idris Adenn (Xen), Kano Tor Tydex, and Kereban Zolar (Bale) in addition to Rian and Alaisy all made their own marks on the staff during my time here. Herald is very much a team driven enterprise that cannot function as a "one man band", with each individual piece of artwork created by a staff member working on their own without a safety net so to speak. Without the contributions of those members the office would have been unable to function at anywhere near the level it has.

Vendetta Items

As stated in my last report, the Herald's office was going to be focusing less on quarterly release content and more on member requests and other graphics updates while still providing limited releases of items when new Star Wars content arrived. And so Disney and Lucasfilm decided to drop three new pieces of Star Wars content on our heads in quick succession in the form of The Rise of Skywalker, Jedi: Fallen Order, and The Mandalorian. As a result the staff has put together a limited number of items from each property in the form of one regular sized release. These items are all live right now!

Policy Updates

One last bit of bookkeeping is to codify something that's been implied or expected in the past: vendetta award skins for dossier items. The new Vendetta Dossier Skin Guidelines will help set the expectations for units as to exactly what is on the table come vendetta time, instead of just figuring that what's happened before will happen again. Additionally, from our end as a Herald staff, it will help us to offer guidelines to work within to prevent miscommunications as well as to ensure that units have a good idea of what the parameters and limits are of the process so nothing sneaks up on them, or looks like the Herald staff is pulling policy decisions from the ether. Now, these are of course guidelines and some exceptions can be made (such as additional revisions, etc), but this serves as the basis for what the expectation is of the staff when creating these works.

So, this is essentially it. I'll still be keeping the lights on around the office until the shiny new Herald is installed, processing member requests, avatars, competitions, and the like. And don't forget, all, applications for that next Herald are still ongoing as outlined here. But, there is one last thank you that I'd like to offer on the way out:

Mav, thanks for taking a chance on me three years ago. I was a bit rough around the edges, with a checkered past, but you still gave me this shot. So, simply, thank you. I hope I lived up to the job.

Wow, thank you! Awesome report. Thank you and all of the staff (past & present) for all your work without ever having any conflicts within the office itself. Its been pretty smooth.

Congrats Alaisy and Rian, and thank you Slags!

Congratulations to Alaisy and Rian. Thanks Slagar for your time helping to ensure we had new content and dossier skins, and hope you enjoy the post-DC life again. :D

Thank you for your contributions. You and your staff have made the fun of this organization visual. For many of us, less graphically inclined, this is the only way to represent who our characters are online and we have numerous options thanks to you all.

Thank you for your service, Slagar.

Congratulations, Rian and Alaisy.

Godspeed.

And now, you rest. Thanks for all your hard work!

Congrats to Alaisy Tir’eivra and Rian Taldrya both on their shinies!! Whoooo awesome work guys!
And a Thank you to you, Selika, for your work! Now you can rest a bit. Maybe come back to Plagueis and wreck some lighties with us. ;) :P
