So yeah, retirement went well.
There’s been a pretty significant staff turnover since the last full HM report, so let’s do some thank yous and introductions.
Rhylance has moved on after some RL stress and tribulations and I am HM once again. I think everybody got that part. As is tradition, Rhy (or just Ben now) has been awarded the Master of Lore degree. If you haven’t already, please thank him for stepping into the surprisingly challenging role of chief nerd.
Alaris has also moved on from P:HM and, in consultation with Bubtra, Korvyn has moved over from P:RGT. This, of course, means that P:RGT is up for grabs. Korvy will be the first to tell you that RGT work is a good gig, so I’ll settle for being the second to tell you. It’s pleasant work and Thran, like Noobi before him, cares deeply about making sure his staff are taken care of. Anyway, back to Alaris: I’ve awarded them the Service Sage in gratitude for their assistance in grading and helping to get some of the most recent courses out the door—and all other contributions to the SA since they were awarded the Savant back in 2010.
You may remember that Ben opened staff applications a little while ago. That marked the end of the M:HM terms for Atty, Titius, and Raiheaux. In recognition of her long service as a grader, ACS cheerleader, and general brain trust member, I’m granting Atty the Service Savant. Titius handled almost all of the non-Writing, non-Leadership grading during his last term, on top of his work as one of the most prolific graders on staff before that. In recognition, I’m awarding him the Service Sage. So thanks to them, and welcome to our current crop of Magistrates: DarkHawk, Quentinshadows, and Remalia.
The Wiki presents a bit of a challenge. On the one hand, the actual level of day-to-day maintenance is pretty low and easily managed. But on the other, knowing all the templates and categories and policies and being willing to look at them is a pretty rare thing. If we want to keep the Wiki in good shape, much less do cleanup and reorganization of the years’ and years’ worth of existing content, we really need to expand the clubhouse.
Over the last few years, we’ve seen several newer members get more involved in actively adding content to the wiki. We’ve seen novel uses of it to document RP sessions, member-made locations like the Shame Corner or Hod Haran’s Folly, and Wally’s monthly leaderboard for RP activity. The visual editor in this version of MediaWiki has made maintaining your character pages easier than ever, and more people have been taking advantage of that. So I’m hopeful that some of you will be interested in this opportunity.
The Wiki Tribune will report directly to me and be the point person for overall DJBWiki management. Our current Tribune, Bentre, will be staying on as a staff member and we will be active in getting our new hire up to speed. The rest of the HM staff will also be pitching in on the daily workload, and Korvis and DarkHawk have already rolled up their sleeves to pitch in with edit patrols.
Basic tasks include:
Patrolling new edits to watch for vandalism or inappropriate content, and editing legitimate articles for things like template uses, image licenses/sourcing, and categories.
Nominate high quality articles for Featured Article and take point on the monthly Featured Article and Wikipedian of the Month awards.
Service as a public point-of-contact for members with questions or suggestions regarding the Wiki.
More advanced tasks once you get into the swing of things:
Creating a new process for Featured Article and WotM nomination, as the current one is ancient and we don’t follow it.
Assisting with permissions management, mass edits through AutoWikiBrowser, and other technical functions.
Adjusting and writing new templates for specialized use.
Assist in revising the Shadow Academy courses and in-Wiki guides for Wiki editing.
Learn the dark magic that controls the Wiki backend,
Modernize existing content to make important information easy to find, and ensure it’s actually accurate when members do find it.
If you’re interested, email me ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Korvyn ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) no later than June 28th.
Note that you are not required to have advanced skills with templates or PHP config files or AutoWikiBrowser or anything of that sort to apply. What you need are basic familiarity with our wiki, a willingness to learn more about it, and the willingness to show up every day to make small improvements for other members’ experiences with the club.
It’s been a hot minute since we had a comprehensive HM report, but that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been anything happening. See the changelog for a variety of tweaks and fixes dating back to the beginning of the year.
Again, as always, if anyone sees any errors in the course notes or exam questions, please submit them through the form. Scrolls of Foundation are a nutritious part of a healthy XP diet.
I am always available at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] or archenksov on Discord.

Second verse, same as the first! Congratulations to all the hard work of the departing staffers and best of luck to the new faces.
Yoooo! Meet the new boss, same as the old boss! Welcome back, Arch, and much <3 for the shout-out to the Folly. I promise some day I'll actually get around to finishing it. :P
Short vacay, now back in business
There have been some changes since your last term. Due to "budget cuts" to reign in our "crippling debt" you will be paid in shiny ribbons and bits of tin. Welcome back!
Good, more SA.
