One year ago today I said goodbye to HM. So let’s try this again and see if it sticks: “As most of you should know, this report is not only my final one as Headmistress, but my final act in the position.”
I’m fortunate that I went into both terms knowing when they were going to end. As I’ve said in the past, I wanted to limit myself to roughly two years in the position before moving on and letting somebody else come in to expand on what I did well and change what I didn’t. This time around, I had a much more limited scope. Ben was, unfortunately, not going to be around for much of a handoff due to RL circumstances that had also left him with a backlog of tasks and new staff in need of training. I did not leave him or his staff with the full resources they needed or deserved.
I was given the very rare opportunity to look at where I failed to set future HMs up for success and redo it. Five months was enough time to attack those pain points a bit. But I have not made much progress on updating and modernizing the SA and the Wiki, and the club should not be stuck waiting on me to get my act together there. Not when there are people waiting in the wings who can handle the job faster and better.
I have known Turel for a decade, though some serious personal and DB highs and lows. When he is as passionate about something as he is about his ideas for how HM can further benefit the club, he does phenomenal things. And he has some fantastic ideas.
I haven’t known Korvis for anywhere near that long, but I’ve enjoyed getting to know him better these last few months. His ability, work ethic, and consistency make me almost feel bad about poaching him from Thran. Regardless, I think he and Turel will make an excellent team.
We also benefit from a new Wiki Tribune and a reconstituted Wiki Staff, who bring a wide range of expertise. We’ve been looking into content and technical improvements great and small alike and those ideas are being fleshed out. You haven’t seen much that’s big or flashy from them yet, but let them cook.
And, of course, I’d like to thank our professors, Zen and Bentre, and our three M:HMs for keeping the SA functional from day to day. That’s the kind of unglamorous but important work that makes having a club like this possible.
As for me, I’ll be lurking, hopefully still contributing but less in the way. Now that I’m not tending to a newborn I can hopefully do more of this “member stuff” I hear about.

One last parting gift for you: the Societies: Inquisitorius course has been completely overhauled, with Korvis picking up where Zuza left off. Because it does still cover the same general content, members who’ve already completed it will not need to retake the exam.
As always, if anyone sees any errors in the course notes or exam questions, please submit them through the form. Scrolls of Foundation are a nutritious part of a healthy XP diet.
I am always available at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] or archenksov on Discord.

To paraphrase: "Just when you thought you were out, they pull you back in!" Already looking forward to your next resignation message!
In all honesty, as someone who dedicated many years to the Academy himself: Thanks for everything you've done for the place!
Caw caw!
Out of the fire back into the frying pan!
While you left some big (bird) shoes to fill, you also are doing everything you can to help smooth the transition. Thanks for everything you've done as HM and for agreeing to stick around in the office for a while.
Thank you for all your work! I look forward to seeing more awesome stuff with the new crew. Get some much needed rest Alethia. <3
That'll do bird, That'll do.
It has been a blast working for you for the last 4 months, Arch. Looking forward to working with you again in the future.
