Like a McDLT

I know some of you are wondering what a McDLT is. Well it was a McDonalds product from the 80’s that failed miserably (here’s the advert it’s rather hilarious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTSdUOC8Kac) The gist was to keep the Hot side Hot and the Cool side Cool. ‘What does that have to do with us’ I know you’re asking. When I look over the roster of our house and our clan as a whole it is really easy for me to see the difference in our Hot side, the members that are active and getting promotions, medals; these members seem to stay that way. Then we have the Cool side those of us who aren’t active and we tend to stay that way and not because we are in a non-recyclable foam container either. What I am trying to say is that I want all of us to be on the hot side, because let’s be honest I’m likely to just toss out the lettuce and tomato.

I also want to talk about the recent shuffle we’ve had among the houses. We’ve brought some new faces into the house and they have already started to make themselves right at home now that they have finally seen the light that we are much better than those other people in Ajunta Pall. Indoor plumbing is also a plus. We hate to lose those that did leave us but turnabout is fair play. I have no doubt that they will elevate Ajunta Pall to new heights.

I’d like to take a minute to talk about e-mail signatures. I’m sure we have all seen the e-mail signatures that look like this:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and we know beyond a shadow of a doubt who sent that e-mail. We also have all seen the emails that just say “OK” or “LOL” or any other short message without any sort of identifier and the e-mail address isn’t one that we know. There needs to be something at the end of your emails so we know who sent it. I’m not singling anyone out but it is best practice to have some sort of identification at the end of your e-mails so we know who sent them even if it is something simple like this:

Even something like that lets us know who sent the email. Just a reminder so that we can keep our e-mail chains clean and organized especially when one thread has upwards of 40 replies it is good to know who sent what.

Finally there is some really cool stuff on the horizon. A really exciting clan event to establish the future of our clan fictionally that will consist of a varied series of competitions over a number of weeks. Viv, Teylas, Dralin, Selika, and I have put together what will hopefully be a fun event. Considering this is the first time in a long while that I’ve been on the organizing side of something large like this I’m also very excited to see if you guys like it or not.

Alright a lot of awesome this month thanks to you awesome folks though a few of you clearly stood out above the rest. First off is Svere. He’s done some really great work and is one of those who came over from Ajunta Pall to us, and all that hard work has paid off with a promotion to Guardian! Next I’d like to welcome two new members to us in Xannillious, who secured a quick promotion to Novice and is working hard on the requirements for Acolyte. Our other new member is Lourana who has been burning through the Shadow Academy like wildfire, completing an amazing number of exams in a short period of time and earning a promotion to Protector in what seemed like overnight, as well as earning a Dark Maven in writing!

Last and certainly not least is our Battle Team leader Dracaryis. Drac is another one of those Ajunta Pall folks who came to us in the shuffle and who has just been a spark plug for all of us here. Not only has he secured a promotion to Dark Jedi Knight but he recently was awarded one of the most coveted medals in the entire brotherhood, the Seal of Loyalty. For those of you that don’t know the Seal of Loyalty is only awarded two times a year. Once on the anniversary of Brotherhood Independence or Exodus Day on April 13th and on the Day of the Fox on November the 9th. Each clan is only permitted to submit two names on each of these occasions so the odds of being awarded one from your clan is small. To earn one of these is to demonstrate exceptional loyalty and dedication not only to your clan but to the brotherhood as a whole.

Aedile’s Corner -

An interesting month for all of us here in Karness Muur. Callus was right in giving a shout out to the members he mentioned above; Svere, Xanillious, Dracaryis and last but not least, Lourana Seaborn. Both Jai’de and Lourana have torn up the SA, taking numerous exams and probably giving the professors there a meltdown! Lourana has soared through the courses, setting her sights on a Dark Maven, which she claimed today - A Dark Maven in writing. I must admit to being a little jealous in this case. Jai’ de has done her fair share of courses too, racking up almost as impressive a count as Lourana, whilst Dracaryis gained a Seal of Loyalty for all his hard work. I am humbled and proud to have all the members we have in Karness Muur. I am grateful for the chance to serve as your Aedile, and you continue to impress me. It goes to show what we can accomplish as individuals, and as a team I am sure we can be unstoppable.

Activity is what this club thrives on and if our members enjoy themselves here, they remain active. If you hear of someone in difficulty or having trouble with exams, wondering which way to turn next in the club, don’t just sit there. Reach out to them; show them what to do, where to go. Befriend them. The more we interact with each other in this wonderful club, the more we will enjoy ourselves. Communicate. A key point once more.

Go out there and be awesome. Do what you continue to do every day - impress me. You are all fantastic members that I and Callus strive to do our best for, and for this, we thank you all for being awesome!
