Mortis Aedile Report 1

House Mortis, Aedile Report.

Introduction

Welcome to my first Aedile Report for the House Mortis. This is a weird and special time to be in Tarentum. Tar has been a part of the Dark Brotherhood every since before the split, when it served as the House of the Tau Squadron. But what we are doing right now, is honoring our clans august history while fundamentally changing how Tarentum operates and in some ways, what it means to be a Tarenti.

My report will focus on the specific nuts and bolts of how we operate as a House, while the Quaestor Reports that Meleu will produce will focus more on big picture subjects.

Competition

Consul Farrin has just informed us all that a competition with Clan Plagueis looms nigh. This will be an important moment for the Clan Tarentum, who so recently was under the threat of shut down. This will be a defining moment for the newly formed House Mortis. We are the backbone of the Clan and if we fail, we let down all of Clan Tarentum. This is out test; in this competition we either prove ourselves to be the dark heart of Tarentum, or we prove our own mediocrity.

There is a lot of talent and a lot of enthusiasm in Mortis. This is the time to harness all of that, to channel it into something productive.

Theme

Clan Tarentum has long been the Clan of Death, but lately we’ve been grasping at what that means. Simply speaking to spirits doesn’t seem robust enough of a theme to base our house on, raising the dead seems cheesy and zombies are the definition of trite. So let’s work together on figuring out what death means to us, the House of Death. Let’s find a theme that we can really sink our teeth into.

To that end I am looking to raise a new faction (battle team) with the patronage of Master Sith Bloodfyre. Since we haven’t quite figured out how to concretely work death into our theme, I am looking at focusing on Knighthood instead. The themes will be lightsabers and armor, loyalties and a code. I want to call it Dark Valor, but ultimately it will be for the first members to decide.

In a way that I haven’t seen in the DB before, I want this faction to be Star Wars themed Medieval styled Knights with lightsabers. Basically lawful evil, anti-paladins if you want to put it into D&D terms. If this theme appeals to you, please message me on Telegram or Google plus or email me. I would like to gather 5 to 7 people to be the founders of Dark Valor and I am hoping that one of them includes a potential leader. This faction will be key to the future of House Mortis and Clan Tarentum itself.

On a totally random note; the first three people to message me the words: Dark Valor, will receive crescents (if the MAA retroactively approves this competition).

Metrics of House Activity

The following sections are something that I will always cover as Aedile: the hard metrics of the house: namely promotions, awards (with clusters as a separate section) and Shadow Academy activity. This is important to be able to look at because this is in the rawest terms how effective we are being as a House. Me putting these metrics out allows our Quaestor to focus on the more abstract parts of leadership. I’m writing this paragraph as a big hint to future Aediles.

This list is based on me going through my inbox so I easily could have missed something. If anyone thinks I have, feel free to contact me privately and I will find the oversight and update this report.

Promotions

Solas Night Thorn:
- Proselyte to Neophyte
- Neophyte to Acolyte

There was only one person that was promoted that I could find but it was pretty epic and very well deserved. Congrats Solas!

Crecents! and other medals.

A lot of crescents and other metals were given out to a large cross section of the House. Pel was obviously the super star here with the honorable mention of Dox and Ranarr’s Steel Crosses. Good job everybody and way to prove that an old dog can learn new tricks Pel!

Neophyte Vordhall:

Hunter Zill:

Clusters!

Dox is the clear outlier here with more Clusters of Earth than most people gained clusters at all. I think Beefs 9 clusters of ice should get an honorable mention because Clusters of Ice take quite a bit more effort to gain than any other kind of cluster.

Battlemaster Frosty Romanae Tarentae:
- Total: 5 Clusters of Fire, 8 Clusters of Earth, 1 Clusters of Ice

Obelisk Prelate Dox Romanae Tarentae:
- Total: 9 Clusters of Fire, 177 Clusters of Earth, and 1 Pendant of Blood.

Battlemaster Hades:
- Total: 2 Clusters of Ice.

Knight Licah Fox:
- Total: 35 Clusters of Fire

Battlelord Pel:
- Total: 5 Clusters of Ice and 1 Pendant of Blood.

Knight Ranarr Kul:
- Total: 62 Clusters of Fire, 14 Clusters of Earth, 2 Clusters of Ice and 2 Pendants of Blood.

Master Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae:
- 9 Clusters of Ice

Battlelord Zekk:
- 25 Clusters of Earth

Shadow Academy!

Solas blew the competition away by number of courses, but Ranarr Kul clearly won by degrees awarded. Congrats everybody on this list, but especially Solas. You rocked man, you took advantage of the Shadow Academy in a way that will allow you to better understand how the Dark Brotherhood is run and how you can be successful in it. Masters, this is what your apprentices should be doing in the Shadow Academy.

Gains
- EVERYBODY!

Gains and losses are where I will track the people who have come or gone from House Mortis. But since this is my first report, this report period covers the creation of the House. So congrats, we have gained you all and we have all gained each other!

In the future Aedile report periods will be closer to a month and we will mention new transfers individually.

Losses
- Knight Kaiburr
- Acolyte Xenna Azara

Kaiburr and his apprentice, Xenna chose to return to Clan Arcona. They were important to Tarentum when they were here and I wish them the best in their new/old home of Arcona. I’m sorry you couldn’t find what you were looking for in Tarentum but I’m glad you came here long enough for me to meet you. Don’t be a stranger!

In closing

If you made it reading down here this far I am impressed. I am also impressed with the level of interest and activity that we have seen in House Mortis even with a House Summit that could and should be more active. I will be more visible and available and working on more projects from here on out than I have been in the last month. I hope we all increase our levels of activity as we move into the House Competition. That’s all for now!
