Now Hiring - Praetor to the HM and Wiki Tribune

Turel Wants You

Now Hiring P:HM

In case you missed it, Wolfe moved up to Voice. I'm excited to work with him on the council but that leaves me in need of a Praetor (he needs a praetor as well if you're interested in Voice work). No forms this time, just email me ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) with:

1. Any experience in the Brotherhood or real life you feel is relevant

and

2. Any ideas you have for improving the Shadow Academy and accessibility of information in the Brotherhood generally. This can include any ideas you have for new courses, degrees, or reorganizing our existing catalog.

Applicants should review my introduction report for my general philosophy and project goals. However, this go round I'm leaning more toward someone who can help with the day to day of the Shadow Academy and is willing to learn the wiki side of things. To paraphrase Hamilton, "I'm gonna need a right hand man (or woman)."

Still Hiring Wiki Tribune

Reposting from last time:

Accessibility of information, aka making things easier to find and use for all of our members, is my top priority, and the wiki tribune will play a huge (and much appreciated) part of that in addition to helping members and summits record and catalogue their lore.

The job description for Wiki Tribune can be found here or in this summary I lovingly lifted from Arch.

Basic tasks include:

  • Patrolling new edits to watch for vandalism or inappropriate content, and editing legitimate articles for things like template uses, image licenses/sourcing, and categories.

  • Nominate high quality articles for Featured Article and take point on the monthly Featured Article and Wikipedian of the Month awards.

  • Service as a public point-of-contact for members with questions or suggestions regarding the Wiki.

More advanced tasks once you get into the swing of things:

  • Creating a new process for Featured Article and WotM nomination, as the current one is ancient and we don’t follow it.

  • Assisting with permissions management, mass edits through AutoWikiBrowser, and other technical functions.

  • Adjusting and writing new templates for specialized use.

  • Assist in revising the Shadow Academy courses and in-Wiki guides for Wiki editing.

  • Learn the dark magic that controls the Wiki backend,

  • Modernize existing content to make important information easy to find, and ensure it’s actually accurate when members do find it.

Application Instructions

Applications for P:HM and Wiki Tribune will be open until Feburary 13th and will be submitted via email to Turel ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]).

Headmaster of the Brotherhood

I'll just add that these positions are very flexible in terms of scheduling and workload, and that a lot of the scary-sounding stuff for T:Wiki is actually well documented and pretty straightforward.

Can confirm, neither job is half as scary as it sounds, and the boss is easy to work with (and be prepared for lots of memes). Just keep some catnip and treats on hand!

P:HM is a fantastic job. It was my first DC staff job like 20 years ago and I loved it.
