Odan-Urr Consul Report - Visions of the Future

Introduction
Greetings Odanites and onlookers from the rest of the club! I must apologize for this report being super late. A combination of real life things and a little of the ACC tournament were sapping my mental energy.
I’m going to recap some recent news you might have missed and give some visions of the future the summit has been working on. Without further ado,

Recent News
There has been a lot going on this month in and around COU

First, I want to give a shameless plug and shout-out to Seals and Kav for running The Herald Halloween event, which has a variety of spooky competitions with double clusters of graphite if you’re like me and need a few ranks in the Shroud Society. There’s still time to get entries in!
Second, I want to shout out everyone who participated in the ACC Championship: Revival. Windos (yes we still claim him) and I represented Odan-Urr in the Masters bracket, fought hard but got eliminated. I am beyond proud of both the level of participation and quality of the matches of Odanites in the Beginners/Intermediate bracket. Remalia and Kadrol put up some outstanding matches before getting eliminated. 3 out of the final 4 participants in the Intermediate bracket are Odanites! Currently, the championship for that bracket is between Seals and Tarvitz with Corinna fighting for third against our Arconan friend Bril. So cheer on your fellow Odanites and be sure to check out some of the matches to see some top-notch writing.

Last but not least, shout-out to Tisto for helping run the Pro Bowl, and to everyone who participated.

Scimitar Standings
The Scimitar of Lord Hoth is a yearly competition that awards the title Scimitar of Lord Hoth for the year and temporary stewardship of the actual Scimitar of Lord Hoth possession. The scores are based on individual activity, details can be found here
Congrats to our September winners for the Scimitar of Lord Hoth!

Here are your year-to-date (Jan 1st to Oct 26th) Scimitar standings for the year:

Ed looks strong to retain possession of the coveted scimitar, but we still have roughly two months left.

The Story Continues….

Once upon a time, in the Outer Rim territories… The end of an era approaches. House Sunrider's fleet has broken through the Vatali Empire's blockade of Solyiat. Planetside, House Hoth has aided protestors in repelling imperial security forces and begun refugee protection efforts. Now, under the command of Prince Vosen Anasaye, the Vatali take their last stand. The fate of an empire, Clan Odan-Urr, and the Kiast System hangs in the balance…
The system-shaking events started in Part 1: Flashpoint will reach their epic conclusion in Part 2. This series has been a labor of love of the house summits (now the whole clan summit) that is intended to bring a lot of the narrative threads that have been hanging for years in our clan lore to a satisfying conclusion. This phase is appropriately titled “End of an Era” because it is going to set us up for a new beginning lore-wise in 2027 that will be far easier for new and returning members to onboard to. And no, we’re not blowing up or leaving Kiast. But needless to say, Kiast will never be the same and you have an opportunity to be a major part of that through your entries in Phase 2.
Shout out to Corinna, Jon, Kadrol, Aurelius and behind the scenes work from Edgar in making phase 1 happen.
Be sure to check out Part 2: End of an Era when it launches on November 1st!

The Future of Clan Possessions (Update)
Some of you may have been around long enough to remember the pre-possessions COU military on New Tython, when many individual members not on the summit “adopted” units, for lack of a better term, and brought them to life with wiki pages and NPCs. A major goal of mine for this Consul term is to try to leverage our clan possessions in a way that fosters that level of engagement and world-building from the memberbase as a whole. What Eeno is doing with Bolt Squadron is an example of the kind of engagement we want to encourage.
In case you missed it, we had a discussion thread and a very early proposal for a policy to allow members to request or adopt clan military units of a certain size. This is something we will continue to hold discussions on and refine in the coming weeks as it’s not quite ready for live implementation just yet.

The Future of Battleteams
In the coming weeks Tisto and I will be launching pilot programs for what I believe will be the future of battleteams. Rather than a traditional unit on the site the new battleteams will be an RP-focused team or small group with a “dungeon master” to facilitate continuous RP content for the group. These will be independent of where you sit on the roster so anyone in any house can affiliate a character with these teams.
The goal is to provide the lore and content of a traditional battleteam with a more flexible structure that isn’t tied to formal summit positions or the site roster. We will be launching pilot programs soon for two historical battleteams so stay tuned. I’ll let Tisto describe his team but I will looking to resurrect our very own band of mercenary misfits with the Wildcards

Closing
I’m excited for all the things going on and what’s in store in the coming year. I’d like to part with a word to take care of yourselves this season. Seasonal depression is a real thing and can be very isolating. We’re not professionals but we’re friends and family and can be that friendly ear you need. Take care of yourselves and look out for one another. Don’t be afraid to reach out and check in on your clanmates this season. You never know what someone is carrying around.
Until next time,
Turel Sorenn
High Councillor of Odan-Urr

Less than 600 points, not much of a lead, but we shall see how the yearly Scimitar pans out.
Looking forward to the conclusion of the Clan Event as well!
Great work to all the ACC Championship finalists. Glad to see that the idea I threw out at Tisto a few months ago is starting to take shape, and one of my favorite BTs is the first up! Looking forward to how it turns out.
The mental health part is dead accurate. If you need to step away, do so and focus on yourself. No one will think less of you for stepping back and taking care of your real life, and they shouldn't care if you can only do what you can in the club. If you're overwhelmed, reach out to someone either on here, in RL, or professionally.
