Greetings Mortis!

It has been about a month since my last report and I know I've been a little more quiet than normal for the past couple of weeks, so it's time once again to let you guys know what's going on around our House and Clan!

CNS Event

There have been a lot of rumors going on about an event with Clan Naga Sadow. It was on, then off again, but I've heard that Frosty talked to Naga Sadow's new Consul and the event is officially back on. It's starting up on March 20th so get yourselves ready to fight hard and win! The events will run for three weeks.

House Run On

I am working on planning a Run On for our House. Many of you have heard by now that House Mortis may be moving from our home at Castle Tarentum to the Corsair Facility on Koros. What came out in our discussions was that the secretive nature of both Battle Teams in Mortis made the Castle an awkward place for our members to spend most of their time. A secluded, heavily fortified base that has been abandoned for several years makes a much more appropriate hideout for our peculiar brand of evil.

Specifically, the Run On will be about our move to the new base and the challenges we face as we clear the crashed Star Destroyer and make it fit for habitation again. It will be a great opportunity for every member of the House to have their characters featured and to carve out a space for themselves within the House. I am planning to have the RO ready to go soon after the event with CNS concludes, and before the next Great Jedi War begins in June or July.

Give It All You've Got

As you have read so far we have a ton of large events coming up between now and summer. It's easy for members to become fatigued when big events all come at once. It's common for members to go all out for the first couple of weeks while they're super excited, then just disappear for the rest of it as RL demands pile up. We need to approach the next few months carefully, and fight smart. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't use up all your energy in the first week.

Plan Wisely

Once every week or two, take a look at the calendar. Plan your time and figure out the best way to balance your RL obligations against what you want to do in the DB. Take a look at the upcoming competitions and check the latest reports to see what you want to plan to participate in. Make a note of the due dates so you don't end up cramming at the last second for the events you really want to take part in.

Choose Carefully

If you don't have the time, don't try to participate in everything. Make a list of all the competitions you might want to take part in. Sort that list with the ones you want to do the most at the top. Write down the start and end dates too. Do the ones toward the top of the list first and work your way down. It's ok if you don't do them all, because at least you got to the ones you wanted the most!

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

Not the greatest writer? Not a particularly good gamer? Don't worry about it. Nobody will think any less of you if you enter a competition and don't win. It has happened to everyone who participates regularly. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, and that's totally fine. I promise. I can guarantee two things: you can't win if you don't play, and practice makes perfect. Get out there, read the directions and do the best you can. You can always ask the competition organizers for feedback, and every competition you do makes the next one easier. You just need to take the time to do the work.

It's OK to Work Together

This ties into the previous one. Everybody can use feedback and practice. If you're a gamer, hit up Frosty or Geosh and see if you can set up a practice session. They'll be glad to teach you a few tricks in your favorite game and you'll come to the competition better prepared. If you're a writer feel free to ping me, Sith or Oberst on Telgram or over email and we can talk about ways to improve your writing. While it's NOT OK to have someone write for you, it is perfectly fine and in fact highly recommended to have someone read your entry before you submit it to help you improve it.
