Regent Report 21

Noobis Regent

Hello Friends!

In this report, we'll be discussing a new release of items, staffers, and providing project updates.

Regent Seperator

Uprising Booster Pack

The Regent Staff has implemented a new item booster pack, which we've dubbed Uprising. This booster saw 15 new member items and 3 clan items added, with several of those being CIS droids that were missing from the system. We've added a new B2 Battle Droid Company (that is akin to the Special Missions Company) to complement the B1 Battle Droid Company we released a while ago.

You can view the whole release here, and below includes what we've added.

Starships:

  • Terrapin-class Bulk Tanker
  • Nssis-class Clawcraft

Attire:

  • Imperial Scientist Uniform
  • Sith Loyalist Robes

Droids:

  • B3 Ultra Battle Droid
  • C-8 Saboteur Droid
  • Cortosis B2 Super Battle Droid
  • First Order Spider Probe Droid
  • T-series Military Tactical Droid
  • ST-series Military Super Tactical Droid

Weapons:

  • Kal Dagger
  • Beskad
  • Explosive Knife
  • Charric Blaster Rifle

Land Vehicles:

  • All Terrain-Personal Transport (AT-PT)

Clan Ground Forces:

  • B2 Battle Droid Company
  • AT-PT Platoon

Regent Staff

The Regent Staff has been updated to reflect my selections for the new Magistrates. As Korvis' term was coming to an end (12 months already!) his spot was up for grabs too. This round of applicants were tough to pick from; I fielded applications from several members uninitiated, and several that had previous staff experience. I really enjoyed the way this process played over Discord, and will be using this method in the future.

Without further ado, here's the current roster of the Regent Staff

Thran Palpatine - Praetor

Thran continues to serve as my trusty and reliable Praetor. He is the machine.

Korvis Manda'Vod - Magistrate

Korvis has been doing great work over the last year as one of my staffers, so it was pretty much a no-brainer to keep him on. He's reliable, consistent, and works hard. He singlehandedly deployed the most recent Uprising booster pack.

Koda Kendis - Magistrate

Koda is a newcomer to the staff (and the club as a whole, having been here just a year), but has been very engaging with the possessions system in that time - he's one of only two members to utilize the Item Prototype Approval Policy to get a custom member-created item prior added to possessions, and is engaging with the staff on a consistent basis. He's proven he's a deeply involved and active member in the club with a strong interest in possessions, so I think he'll be a good fit.

Halcyon Taldrya - Special Magistrate

Halc is no stranger to the Regent Staff (or pretty much any position in the club), having served as the first Praetor to the Regent under Darth Nehalem Evant. He has an intimate knowledge of possessions and inner workings of the system, having created several of the processes we still use today. He's got a few interesting ideas on ways we can improve the system and member experience, so I'm excited to see what we can do. Given his extensive experience, innate knowledge, and known reliability as a staffer that could prove useful for a long time, it didn't feel right to lock him into a term and instead he'll be serving as Special Magistrate.

Socorra Arconae - NotARGTBear/Helping Hand

As Praetor to the Grand Master, Socorra has been involved with several major projects recently, including XP, the email redesign, and the ACC revamp/RP society launch. She was the first one I discussed a loadout revamp with, and given her involvement in other major projects with other offices I've elected to bring her in on the new loadout project.

Project Updates

Crafting System

This project is still our main focus for now due to its massive undertaking. Regent Staff is making some great tangible progress on the item prototypes you'll be able to craft using the new crafting system, with over 300 item prototypes chosen for implementation so far - and the list keeps growing. Once these are done, we can move onto purchasable materials and after that, the crafting blueprints you're all going to use to craft these item prototypes. We're also mulling whether to include member submitted items with the Item Prototype Approval Policy into this (like the VibroMaul we approved not long ago).

We're still looking at the best way to implement this system that is intuitive and easy for members (while still offering that "RPG" feel and sense of accomplishment for having crafted something), but we've got a couple solid ideas to work off of before we reach implementation.

Project Objectives:

  • Implementation of a crafting system that allows members to "craft" a Masterwork-rarity (same as Legendary-rarity) version of an item
  • Give members more control over their possessions
  • Provide a secondary avenue to invest credits alongside regular possessions
  • Provide special "end-game" items for members to craft

Loadout 2.0

You read that right… the loadout is getting a facelift! Since they were first introduced alongside possessions, loadouts have been a staple of the Brotherhood. While there have been some changes (the addition of the Backpack slots and implementing those/the vehicle slots as non-ACC items), the loadout has mostly remained the same since it was first introduced. As you can see below (or in your own loadout), the current loadout screen is fairly bloated and condensed. There isn't room to add anything else as is, which hamstrings us in the future from adding stuff that might be cool or interesting, with the current code being a pain to change anything. The doll images you can select are mostly obscured, with some of them being almost entirely covered.

Current UI

We've got several changes in mind for the UI and functionality, including some slotting changes. Our plan is to implement a UI that is intuitive, easy to use and look at, but offers room for changes/additional slots down the road and future-proofing for the future by making it easier for the Regent and Seneschal to modify/update. The dolls you can select will be more visible, with additional options in the pipeline - possibly the ability for you to submit a suitable image for your own. PraiseBeJames, the entire loadout code is being re-written instead of an incremental update, so now is the time for us to make the changes we want to make and make it easier on everyone involved to make future changes. I've appropriated Mr. Dark Lord's Praetor, Socorra, to assist on this

In light of this, I have decided to open up a suggestion form for ideas members might want to see/have. I offer zero guarantee that these ideas will be implemented, but it will give you guys an opportunity to have your voices heard and help shape the new loadout.

You can find the Loadout 2.0 suggestion submission form here. It's pretty straightforward, just a couple questions. We will collect suggestions for the next week, but after that need to hammer out details and put together a solidified feature request for James to work off of and see what's viable.

Project Objectives:

  • Clean-up and declutter UI and slots
  • Make functional changes that make the loadout easier to use and manage for the membership
  • Make loadouts easier to manage for the GM/DGM/RGT/SCL

Upgrades v2

This is one that has been on my radar for a while now. Since we first implemented upgrades, only space vehicles have received an expansion (and that was after squadrons launched). We're going to be going through all the upgrade types starting with weapons to get the biggest section done first, and then continue onto other item ugrade types. This project pairs well with crafting, because it's an opportunity to add more higher tier upgrades for higher rarity items (which have been in the "lacking" section).

Booster Releases

We're still actively working on these, with the main goal providing little drops of content throughout the year instead of leveling the process by dropping 30-50 at a time. We've been having a lot of success with this model since we started, and are already working on the seventh booster release.

If you have any suggestions for canon or legends items not found in possessions, you can make those suggestions using the Regent Suggestion Box linked at the end of this report.

Quality of Life

This is an ongoing project, where we hunt down inconsistencies, errors, and other things to purge or fix to provide that preemo experience for members. Over the last couple weeks we've deployed over two dozen fixes, which you can find in previous reports.
