HOLONET

“Your inability to secure this trade route has cost the Empire greatly, Captain. Preliminary reports indicate loss of product exceeding fifty million credits from MagTek alone. Unacceptable. The Empire expects more from her officers.” the Proconsul said, blankly staring out into the infinite field of twinkling stars.

“Mi’lord, it is not my fault. These pirates are cl-” the grey-haired officer’s voice was cut mid word.

The Sith’s fingers contorted into a claw, gripping the air firmly, as he turned away from the viewport. The Officer’s hands clutched his throat. The portly officer hunched over and in a moment, he lay dead on the cold floor of the bridge of the Warspite. As the last gasp of life left the human man, the handful of junior officers that stood at his side looked away in discomfort, save one; Lieutenant Commander Fitzroyel Tosten, CO of the Geist. Tosten had watched as the glimmer of life left his superior’s eyes. The man was cold, methodical, and ambitious.

“Your incompetence is forgiven, Captain. Your lack of accountability is not.” the Proconsul said, turning back to the Officers. “I want these pirates dead, Ladies and Gentlemen.”

Tosten coughed.

“Sire, The Geist is capable of finding these brigands and bringing them to justice. I shall see to it personally.” he said, standing up straight.

“Tosten. Again, your ambition places you in my path. I appreciate your fervor. Very well, Commander. You have one week to bring me their leader’s head.” Thran said, turning back to the viewport.

“What do you mean?” Kamjin said.

“He killed her.” the Intelligence officer said.

“You are certain it was him?” The Emperor said, leaning forward in his chair.

“Yes, no doubt. The wounds were consistent with a lightsaber. He did well to cover it as an accident. The news outlets have already reported Emily Coral’s death as a tragic accident. Mourners have taken to the streets in Tokare.” the officer replied.

“Why did he do it?” Kamjin asked.

“He discovered that she authorized the continued shipments to the Aliso System. He was not pleased with that. It may play a part. However on the night of the altercation, we tracked a ship entering the system from Bakura. We suspect this had something to do with it, but we don’t have more information.” the officer said.

“Very interesting. Find out everything you can about that ship, it could prove useful. Continue to monitor him as he expands the Empire’s production chains. Any ammunition we can maintain in reserve will prove useful when The Usurper makes his big move. And find another transportation company that can discreetly manage our shipments to Aliso. We have a contract to uphold, afterall.” Kamjin lifted a small cup of caf to his lips, sipping it gingerly.

Introduction

Hello all! This is my inaugural Proconsul report. It has been a rather eventful two months since I took over. It has been a very long time since I have written a report. So bear with me if there are some rough patches.

Kamjin and I have been getting along swimmingly, despite his constant claims that I am trying to murder him. Together we have started to lay out the framework of where the clan is headed. We are working our way through a rather large list of housekeeping items and hope to bring some new and exciting stuff to you all soon!

Going forward, my reports will be predominantly focused on the goings on within the Clan. Kam will be focusing his reports on more Brotherhood wide news, participation and individual metrics and highlighting out individual members for their hard work. I am going to try to keep this short and just fill you all in on the stuff I have been working on!

Calendar

Probowl

October

We have an established calendar of events leading us through the end of the year. First and foremost, Probowl begins next week!

For those of you who are unfamiliar, Probowl is an invitational event sponsored by Clan Plagueis. The events are less plot driven than an event like a Vendetta, but are designed to encourage having some low stress fun. Members from participating Clans are “drafted” into one of two teams, the Rotworms or the Frogdogs. Those two teams will then compete against each other to bring home the title.

CSP participated last year and we had a great time. The last Probowl was the birthplace of #beatkam. Kam was our clan’s representative for the Frogdogs, and yours truly represented the Rotworms. This year Talon Jade will be representing the Frogdogs and I will again be representing the Rotworms. The first week is a single competition, which all members may participate in, but Team captains will use this event to determine the draft order.

Shout out to Talon for stepping up for the Frogdogs

This year's event even includes members of the DC! So this is a great chance to interact with some of the Brotherhood’s big players.

There will be a diverse set of competitions to participate in and I’m sure we’ll have a great time again! Get more information here: Probowl

The Next RP

November

Earlier this month, the Exarch’s staff reached out to us about expanding CSP’s use of the Roleplaying (RP) system. Wally led a casual RP session, which resulted in a very drunk and on fire Kamjin. Some fun was had!

Kam and I have discussed our take aways from this trial session and discussed using this as a new avenue of activity for our membership. The primary take away that Kam and I had from this session was that members of Scholae Palatinae are people of action, casual and civil conversation doesn’t really hold our attention. We need explosions, blaster shootouts, and lightsabers!

As a result of that conversation, I have been tasked with creating an RP for our members. This next RP will be more action driven and rely less on casual conversation and be full of 100% more explosions. This event will begin in November, after the completion of Probowl and will run for several weeks. As this gets closer, we will provide more details.

Sithmas

December

As we move into the holiday season, Sithmas will make another appearance on our calendar. This holiday themed event has become a bit of a tradition for the Clan. We thought it appropriate to carry on the tradition. However, We are going to be putting a unique little twist on this year’s Sithmas. Stay tuned for more details!

Wikiwork and Fictional Development

Wikiwork

One of the great pleasures of being on a Clan summit is the ability to contribute to the fictional development of the clan. The downside to that is that it requires a lot of staring at wiki pages, bringing them up to date, writing new ones, a not 0 number of tears, and some bargaining with any supernatural beings that may be listening to help expedite the process.

I have been silently trudging along in updating the wiki and building out some new locations, characters, and other fictional elements. I would highly encourage everyone to check out the updated CSP Main wiki Article. Some substantial changes have been made there. Stay tuned for more updates as they trickle down between my crying episodes.

Special shout out to Rayne! Who has assisted me greatly with this project!

Fictional Development

Another of my duties as Proconsul is to help Kam guide our fictional development. The edits to the wiki pages are part of this, but the other part is the management and addition of possessions to CSP’s roster.

After much discussion, the completion of last month’s house competitions, and some old-fashioned brainstorming, I have finally filled out some of our bases on the planets! We have added these items to assist in creating a living and breathing fictional space for our members. We have added spaceports to every major city in the Caperion System, we’ve added bases and mines, farms and factories. Kamjin also demanded a jungle Resort and spa where he can have eels eat the dead skin off his feet. I know, gross, but nevertheless this provides our clan with a plethora of new settings to include in our fictions. I still need to go through and write the custom aspects for these places, describing them in detail, but I am excited to have brought some of these things to life.

I am always looking for new suggestions, so if there is something you’d like to see added, holla at chaboi.

Check out Seraph and the rest of the Caperion System.

Likewise, after some discussion, Kam and I felt that some of the Clan’s funds would be best put to use by creating a localized defense force for the Caperion System. We are proud to announce the creation of the Imperial Defense Legion.

Specializing in defending our homeworld from threats domestic and foreign, the IDL has begun rigorous training. While not presently earmarked in the Empire’s Budget, plans to expand this force have been introduced. This addition of a separate defense force will allow for greater mobility of the Imperial Legion, which in turn allows the Empire to project power beyond our borders.

Two Paths

Another item that we have been working on is creating a system that will best provide our members with opportunities to participate in regular events. I have been pleased with the amount of participation I have seen in our recent puzzle events. These casual, non time intensive competitions are a great way to get rewards and also keep our clan’s credit income going.

The summit has decided that we will continue these types of competitions as they seem to be a good return on investment. Going forward, after the Probowl, these events will be run by our QUAs. This will leave the more impactful competitions in the hands of the CON and PCON.

Effectively, we will have two “paths” of competitions. One path will consist of all casual competitions, which are run by the QUAs that have no impact on the greater clan fiction. For example, puzzles. Cheap, easy, fun. The other path, which is run by the PCON and CON and will have a lasting effect on the greater clan fiction. For example, fictions submitted to these events may make use of NPCs as enemies for the clan, the outcome of the fiction may impact our clan’s possessions (Building new bases or destroying old ones). Alternatively, Graphics may be used to create new locations, NPCs, or impact future events in the Clan’s fictional meta.

Kam and I are both set on having our membership feel like what they do has an impact in the Clan. This is just one way we hope to provide that experience.

Participation=Promotion

The last section is a great segue into my final point.

Participation matters. Participation is the path to promotion, medals, and success.

I want to start by dispelling a myth that I have heard. First, High Level Equite promotions require leadership positions. To put it plainly, this isn’t true. It hasn’t been for some time. Equite IV is achievable by consistently participating in gaming, fiction, graphics and simple competitions. Leadership expedites your timeline on promotion. Likewise, staff positions will help shorten the time between promotions or medals.

Furthermore, participating in events helps the Clan. Every competition you participate in gives the Clan credits that we can use for continual fictional development. This impact is even greater in Vendettas. The difference between 3rd place and 6th place in the GJW is a whole Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser. We weren’t that far off 3rd place. Additional participation would have closed that gap considerably.

But at the end of the day, this is really about you, the member. We’re here to help you reach your goals within our club.

When we look at it, the only real metric we have to gauge rewards/medals in the Brotherhood is participation in competitions, Clan events, and vendettas. As a summit member, this is the first item we look at when going to recommend a medal or a promotion.

Kam and I have adopted a policy which has us regularly reviewing members' activity to ensure that rewards are passed out when they are due. For transparency's sake, our process is to review all members' activity at a quarterly interval. In other words, once every 3 months the Summit collectively goes through all members' activities and awards medals or promotions based on that comprehensive review.

Basically, if promotion is something that you are looking for, the way to get there is by participating in as many competitions as you can.

Personally, One of the best things I did for myself was adjusting my attitude from “When am I going to get promoted?” to “What can I do today to help me get promoted?”. I found that the short answer was “just participate”.

In short, there is no gray area on this one. Participation directly translates to promotion.

If there are any competitions you would like to see Clan leadership run, please feel free to reach out to me. We will be glad to provide any opportunities we can. If you have any other questions or just want to chat, you can also feel free to reach out to me.

Have fun in the Probowl and Set yourself on the path to that next promotion!

Nice report.

Very good report

Way to go Thran!! I maintain that if they were gonna leave a jungle of Seraph eventually we had to pillage it and a jungle resort would be awesome!

I appreciate your transparency.
