Quaestor Report

Hello Scholae Palatinae! The month of March is quickly coming to a close so that means it is time for a new Quaestor Report.

Intel: Brotherhood Wide - Position Changes and Site Features

There has been some big news on the Club front. The First of which is that Baxir (a.k.a. Orv) has had to resign from his position as Herald. He is responsible for some truly awesome work. In his place Socorra has stepped up to be the new Herald. Socks has also opened up applications for P:HRLD which will be open until April 1st.

The Tribune:Recruitment position has also been opened up, with applications for that closing tonight. I want to thanks Xantros for his work as T:R since the position opened. Don’t worry though, just because he resigned from T:R doesn’t mean he isn’t still going to be kicking ass as our Aedile.

Also a fairly new feature has been added to the website. The Event Calendar. While logged in you may notice information showing up on the sidebar of the main page. Information includes currently running Competitions you are subscribed to, Gaming Events, and other bits of information. There is also a Scholae Palatinae Calendar (although currently blank as we figure out dates for things. You can see the full calendar system here and toggle what information you want displayed there. I think this a fantastic and useful feature, so I hope you all use it to its full potential.

Intel: Brotherhood Wide - Bosthirda Run-on

As you all should be aware, we had the first of the Crusade Epilogue events that are going to lead the way to the next Great Jedi War. This first event was a team based Run-on, that involved teams from all units going after the lost sword of Ferran. For those of you unfamiliar with the larger DB lore, Ferran is the founder of our Obelisk order, so hunting down this Sword was a big deal. Over 24 teams from across the club signed up to participate. Out of those teams 13 managed to finish their run-ons and have all members complete the required 3 posts needed. As a House we had enough people sign up to field two teams for the run-on. Both teams did a fantastic job and were among the 13 that qualified for placing. This is a huge deal and I want to congratulate everyone who participated in this. Run-ons, especially run-ons with short time limits such as this one, are very difficult to pull off.

There were a lot of incredible run-ons finished for this event. Taldryan Team 2 took home first. Plagueis Team 1 took second and Arcona Team 2 took third. I hope you all take a chance to read these and the other fantastic run-ons that were finished. I know personally, this was one of the most fun times I’ve ever had working on a run-on.

We will be giving more practice for run-ons when the next round of the Looking Home Campaign runs. Reading some of these other run-ons can help you get a better idea of how run-ons work. But at the end of the day, practice and experience with working with others in the club is what makes them very successful. I will give out a few basic tips. First, I find using a GoogleDoc helps tremendously in writing one of these. It allows everyone to proof read posts, provide comments, and help get a general feel for each of the posts. I also find it very helpful to make sure there is some information up at the top of the document about each of the characters involved in the run-on. Because run-ons are team based, you need to know how other peoples’ characters work to write a cohesive story. Wikipedia pages and Character Sheets are two of the biggest assets to have in this regard. I cannot recommend having a CS and Wikipedia page highly enough. They are useful not only for other people have to write your characters but also incredibly helpful in giving a grounded way for you to write your own character.

Intel: Brotherhood Wide - ACC Event

It has been a pretty well known secret that the next round of these Epilogue events is going to be an ACC Tournament. Sarin made this point official in his latest VOICE report. This means something very simple. If you want to get credit for participating in the next round of this, you have to be qualified for the ACC. At the moment the ACC is still in Beta but very Soon(TM) it will be moved to the official live site. Also the count as of Mav’s update is a total of 70 people DB wide have qualified.

”But Xen how do I qualify?”: Simple. First make sure you have an approved Character Sheet. As I mentioned above these are super important for all DJB fictional stuff so you should have one of these anyway. Basic questions and information about the Character Sheet system can be found here. If you have any questions what so ever about this process, do not let that hinder you from completing one. I am more than willing to help you with it, and I know everyone on the ACC Staff is also very good at providing further feedback and information on this.

Then you take two SA Exams: ACC Fundamentals and ACC Qualification. Do not feel daunted by these exams. ACC is a different format from normal story writing and has its own quirks and rules to follow. Again if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. I find the ACC to be incredibly fun and rewarding, plus the battles award Clusters of Ice, something that will play a part in the frequently teased Fiction Society! So get qualified and get battling!

Intel: The Imperial News Net - Imperial Senate Debate and other Competitions

Early today Xantros sent out an email to the House about the newly opened Imperial Senate. It is something he has been working on for quite a while and I am very excited to see it live. We will have our first set of “Senate Debates” in the month of April so please make sure to subscribe to the competition here by the end of the month so Xantros can set up groups. The debates will take place on the forums.

Brandon is running a fiction called You Smuggler which is about getting smuggled goods into the system.

There are also some DJB wide events running by members in other units. First is A Night at the DJB Casino which involves playing Pazaak with other people (which is also a good way to earn some CFs!). The second one I want to highlight is a fiction event, Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? which involves your character waking up at some point in in the past. Preferably at a point of importance in your character’s history. This event is being Co-Sponsered by the VOICE and is awarding Clusters of Ice as well!

Also I want to remind you all that Shadow’s two Assassination competitions end tomorrow so don’t forget to get your submission in!

Always remember you can look up competitions at any time on the competition page on the DJB site.

Intel: The Imperial News Net - Return of the Dark Paladin

Some of you older members here might remember the old Dark Paladin system we had for a while when we were a Clan. For you newer members, it was a rarely given “unofficial” title here in Scholae Palatinae to highlight super awesome members. There was a bunch of fictional aspects they could add when writing fiction and the like. It has been something I always thought was cool (especially since I did the original artwork for it) and has been on my list to bring back for a while.

The Dark Paladins now have added ranks known as “circles” for members who excel and continue to be awesome after their first recognition. There are now nine levels. I originally was thinking about have seven. However, as some of you might be aware, the Cocytus System largely pulls its name and influences from the famous 9th Circle of Hell. I hope this adds a fun and exciting new aspect to the House, and that it becomes something I can highlight members for as we continue on.

As it is returning, I want to take this time to appoint a new Paladin. Evant Taelyan has been an outstanding member and active force here in HSP. He was the one who first organized the Looking Home Campaign. He was taken an active role in making sure the Fleet and Military of the House are properly organized, and was an incredibly helpful force on his team for the Bosthirda Run-on. He is an excellent example of just what a DJB member can do and achieve.

Intel: The Imperial News Net - Closing Remarks

I had originally been hoping to have the Antenora Phase of the Looking Home Campaign pick up this weekend. Focus on finishing the Run-on pushed it back on the priority list a bit. As I will be gone for a brief LoA this weekend (family stuff), it is still going to have to wait just a little longer. I will give the slight spoiler of us planning another run-on, so I hope you all are ready to get in on that. Until next time.

For the Empire!

Xen'Mordin Vismorsus
Quaestor of Scholae Palatinae

More awesome than an awesome possum, Xen!
