Social Media Tribune Report #1: Into The Fold

header

Good evening fellow members of the Dark Jedi Brotherhood and welcome to my first report as your Social Media Tribune. This report will go on to highlight some of the recent beginnings to expanding our name to people around the world as well as mentioning new competitions for Instagram and Twitter, and the way forward to get the DJB name out to people in Social Media Land.

Updating And Transforming Our Platforms

The first few weeks I spent gathering further research on targeting trends for people who may have interests in what our club offers. The first step before unleashing the DJB onto the people around the world was to transform our templates for our social media platforms. As with many major brands I wanted to keep the emblems, colors, and theme the same across the board in order to allow people to easily recognize us regardless of which platform they decided to us on. So far the emblem I have used was donated by none other than our own DGM aka Vyr. I also utilized some great images submitted from some of our own members from the DJB Deviantart page found HERE.

Keep a close look out for all platforms we are currently utilizing as we move forward with our outreach campaign across social media and please like, comment, subscribe, and follow if you can. Every member that does will only help us further improve our footprint.

Platforms Being Used And Pending Platform(s) To Come

  1. Facebook is a platform the DJB has long used and already had a nice foundation prior to myself taking over as Social Media Tribune. This is a platform that has recently enjoyed major success with some of my targeting campaigns and has also helped boost our Instagram page since Facebook bought out Instagram a little bit ago. If able I would love any member that hasn’t already to check out our page and please “like, and follow” it. Lastly if you have time I am seeking members to rate/write on the “review tab” on reasons they enjoy the DJB for potential onlooker who may be on the fence on learning more about us. The DJB Facebook page can be found HERE. The goal of this page will be to focus on a combination of Star Wars, DJB news, and also feature some member art mixed with relevant informative posts.

  2. Instagram is a platform that focuses on images. So far I have utilized the page to highlight member featured art. There is a competition that starts today (April 30th) and will run weekly through the end of the year to help highlight our DJB artists both veterans and new artist. My hope is it will inspire new artist into the DJB art community, while continuing to boost people looking/following our page. Check the competitions section of this report for more information. The DJB Instagram page can be found HERE.

  3. Twitter is a platform that engages people by utilizing short/medium length “Tweets” *** (i.e. Sentence to paragraph long texts, images, etc.)*** that range from all types of information. This platform was previously established prior to me taking over and has been the more challenging of the three platforms to boost our following. While it has been up and down with our followers each day, overall it has increased from it’s average followers from around the world since taking over. There is also a competition that starts today (April 30th) and will run weekly through the end of the year based on Star Wars Trivia. Check the competitions section of this report for more information. The DJB Twitter page can be found HERE.

  4. YouTube(Pending) is a platform that utilizes videos submitted by users around the world. This is a platform I have plans to utilize member streams, media from competitions, and other future projects to help create user friendly videos that help inform our people on our club. As many of you know our club has a lot of amazing stuff to offer, but can be overwhelming for the average person who may view our page. The goal is to streamline it with short, simple, user friendly videos in time.

Statistics By The Numbers

Everybody loves numbers and below I have posted a few images highlighting some of the exciting activity from our Facebook page. I finally started implementing some of the new targeting strategies and public outreach on April 20th. Everything after that date shows the growth increase and the other images show the average trends from one year prior to April 19th, 2017. Some exciting stuff and I will continue to tweak our outreach and targeting strategies over the coming months.

As you can see some great data here. I was most surprised with our reach in many different countries. Some of these countries surpassed many others that I thought would be our top locations for interest. I will continue to evolve the targeting strategies as the trends change to see what works best with our outreach.

Competitions

  • Featured Artist Of The Week (Instagram) - Every week we have many members in our club's Art Community that submit amazing images they have created for fun. My goal is to highlight these amazing works of art on our Instagram page to help create a greater exposure to the different aspects of our club, but at the same time respecting any wishes from our members that do not want their artwork featured and still affording the same opportunity for participation for their efforts. Check out the competition details HERE. Starts April 30th and runs weekly

  • Star Wars and Related DJB Trivia "Twitter"** - This competition will be ran weekly on the Official DJB Twitter account @SWDJB. People all over the world utilize Twitter and many times search for things that interests them. Trivia is not only a huge favorite in the DJB, but also on Social Media. This is a great way for our members to have fun while also opening on some of the fun we have here as a community of like minded Star Wars fans. Check out the competition details HERE. Starts April 30th and runs weekly

Getting Involved

I have spoke with a few members about new ideas and ways to continue to grow our presence in social media. There have been a few great ideas to include past ones that have already been in place prior to this positions creation. Plagueis for example already has the PlagCast which is a pretty cool feature that is unique on relevant information for our membership. I have been dabbling with the idea of a VideoCast monthly that highlights different information that is relevant to DJB members and potential onlookers from social media. My desire is to at least feature one co-host for each cast and would love to feature members towards the end of the cast to speak on why they joined the DJB, what kept them interested, and then any small talk that encompasses current events. This will range from long time veterans to the newest members that way we can expand on all aspects that highlight a our club. If your interested in this I would love for you to send me an email letting me know. Depending on interests there may be some time till we get to you, but do not feel discouraged as I will include as many as possible over the course of the hosting the VideoCast.

I have also been asked by some members about opening Clan and House social media pages. At this time i do not have the capability due to time to run these and continue to get these off the ground while continuing to build the main DJB accounts. However Clan and House leadership can create their own pages. I will guide, and mentor as time allows with whomever you put in charge of the pages. Obviously accounts would need to be monitored by leadership in your respective units to ensure nothing that would violate the CoJ would be posted.

In Closing

That's all for the first report from the inner workings of the Social Media Tribune and the way forward to continue our outreach to the world. Feel free if you have any questions, thoughts, or ideas for potential projects to help our club’s social media presence. There is a ton I want to help bring to the awareness to the world on who we are. in time it may be possible to help expand to a team depending on how much our presence continues to grow our followers in the social media atmosphere.

Lastly if your a member who wants to get involved with the platforms, but doesn’t want to use their real life account. I have seen some pretty neat IC (In Character) only accounts that members have used. This is perfectly acceptable and a pretty cool way to stay involved in character. Check out Wally’s IC account HERE for Twitter. Pretty awesome.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next report and enjoy the competitions folks!

Until next time folks,

Oi. Very cool stuff. I have already seen an influx in CNS. Glad to see that things are already starting off on a good foot. Cheers, and a good report.

Doing a great job so far Maximus!

Good stuff, Maximus! Really love how you're dealing with our social media and communication and outreach. It's great to see.

Doing clan and house social media pages almost seems...excessive? It'd involve some tremendous upkeep. I guess it really depends on the enthusiasm of the leadership.

Good report. And good breakdowns of the different platforms. I use FB for my entertainers page. Sadly they have really clamped down on getting info out from it to my 1000+ fans. If people aren't rabid followers and likers of posts they lose the feed and never receive any information from the page. At some point (I believe) Facebook then auto unlikes.

I wish you the best of luck dealing with it.
