Battleteam Fiction

The Inquisitor came up to the body and knelt next to it, his gloved hand reaching down to grab the Noghri corpse’s head and shift it toward him. After a moment, he nodded and rose to his feet, retrieving a holo-communicator from his belt, activating it. A few seconds later, and the hologram of a cloaked Iridonian appeared.

"Chief Inquisitor." The Human said, bowing his head in deference.

The hologram's cold yellow eyes stared up at the Inquisitor before finally speaking, his voice soft but ice cold. "Report."

"The information supplied by your informant was correct. We located and eliminated a safehouse containing the Undesirables that matches the roster supplied to us," the Inquisitor said before hesitating a second. "Unfortunately we were unable to obtain evidence that implicates Clan Arcona."

"Not unexpected," the Chief Inquisitor scowled slightly. "The Clan of Shadows hide themselves well. Proceed with the plan. Information will be relayed as we obtain it. But obtain evidence at any cost, Inquisitor. The Iron Throne is determined to finally bring Arcona to heel."

The Inquisitor bowed his head again.

"As you command."

Holocron: General News

My dear friends, we come to the third report for the Tal’mahe’Ra! Things has been relatively quiet on the public front, but I assure you, work is proceeding on the storyline and competition fronts behind the scenes! We are simply in the middle of a bit of awkward timing due to major competitions that are coming up, of which Sins of the Past, Episode Two, will be taking center stage very quickly! In the meantime, we will continue to release fiction excerpts with each report so that our storyline will continue to develop as we move toward our first major competition on the Battleteam scale!

With that said, my friends, I would humbly ask something of you. As we continue to write out the next stage of the fiction, I would love to be able to use your characters in greater roles than simply cameos. To that end, I will be hitting up each and every one of you with questions over the month so that I can give you more significant roles in our story- because ultimately the Tal’mahe’Ra’s story is about you, the members! So I ask for your patience and your guidance as I begin to sketch out your roles in our fiction. Hopefully you’ll all love the results and feel invested in our adventures as we continue on our journey!

Mord asks: #askZakath How does Zakath feel about edging back into the Dark, and away from what Atyiru has been trying to teach him?

• How I feel about edging back into the Dark… Hm. Zakath is set on his course, because he believes it is necessary. That Arcona is better served with him pursuing the Dark Side’s power. That being said, Atyiru has never tried to get him away from the Dark Side, only to temper him against its potential excesses. It’s an important difference that I feel is often overlooked in Atyiru- she respects both the Light and Dark Sides of the Force, and is darker than her outside demeanor would suggest. I feel that she would respect Zakath’s choice, and in return, Zakath will do his best to temper his choices when drawing on the Dark Side.

Mord asks: #askZakath in light of the many Battleteams that Arcona has had over the years, and indeed has right now - what do you think sets the Tal'mahe'Ra apart? what makes them unique?

• I would say as it stands right now- the Tal’mahe’Ra is not as unique as it will become, simply because our storyline is only now being set into motion. What will make us unique is our focus on the more mystical side of the Force- I find that most Battleteams, both within and without Arcona is focused on the necessary but Mundane needs of our Clans. Intelligence gathering, Assassination, Special Forces, etc. None are focused on exploring the Force directly.

As the TMR storyline develops, I will be striving to take us into directions that would expand on our knowledge of the Force and how we wield it in service to the Clan- and how the Force can be wielded against us. It will hopefully develop into storylines that the members would find exciting and different from what most Battleteam adventures would experience.

• Because your nose is wired wrong. I smell delightful as far as my species is concerned. Not my problem if you think I stink.

• Well my species hatch from eggs. Apparently yours is ripped from your mothers after nine months of carrying them. Sounds kinda gruesome, if you ask me.

• I vaguely recall the name in general, but not in connection to my TC days. Sorry! :(

• Let’s split from the EH? I dunno.

• I prefer the darker men, they taste better with some gacho sauce. That being said, I’m not picky when it comes to eating men, just that they be cooked rare, if at all. The Rawer, the better.

• To my apparent everlasting shame… I have no idea who that is. :P

• She can stay for now. Steal something, and she might end up in my stomachs. Otherwise we’re cool.

• Of course I do. What kind of a question is that?

Uji asks: #askZakath how does Zakath feel about the current goals of TMR and what they are doing (fictionally)

• Zakath feels that the TMR’s goals are both necessary and right. The Inquisitorius has made clear its intent to execute the Grand Master’s will to purge the Undesirables, and are even now secreting hunting them through Arconan space. This cannot be allowed. As far as Zakath is concerned, we are the masters in the Dajorra system, and the Inquisitorius death squads must be rooted out and destroyed, to send a clear message that one does not mess with Arcona in its own home.
  

Braecen asks: #askZakath when you get murdered, can we use your scales/hide to make Atty a handbag and/or luggage?

• No. My corpse goes to Nath. She can do with it as she wills.

Nath asks: #askZakath do you have any character development plans for the team?

• I do, and as noted earlier in the report, I will be talking with all of the TMR members over the next few months to flesh out each member’s role in the team and to give them starring roles in the next few fiction entries. Right now the attention is focused mainly on Zakath as he is the pivot on which the TMR was formed and is setting events in motion. But as our storyline begins to take shape, I will be aiming to give each member prominent roles in the events to come - the extent of which will be determined by each member. Some prefer to work behind the scenes, others would love the limelight, so to speak. I will try to provide as much as I’m able to satisfy our members and the needs of the story. But rest assured, each member of the TMR will have a part to play in the events to come.

Wally asks: #asktheZakath How many toothbrushes does Zakath go through a week (day?)

• I go through 1 toothbrush every couple months. Toothbrushes are surprisingly durable if they’re made for the right species, so no, lose the silly notion that I go through a toothbrush a day.

Uji asks: #AskZakath - Would it be considered inappropriate if Uji purchased an aquarium and hot-rock for Z for a holiday?

• It depends on how it’s presented to Zakath. If the intent behind it is friendly and genuine, Zakath will accept it as such. Atty once gave a jeweled industrial-grade nail file to Zakath for his birthday, and she got a hug in return.

Atty asks: #askZakath how many flowers crowns does Zakky now own?

• Just the one. Zakath is not a flowers person. But he treasures the one Atty made and it is kept in a private and secure place.

• Already posted it, you jackass.

BTL’s Thoughts

Greetings all!

First and foremost, I want to express my appreciation for your patience as our story begins in earnest. I know interest can wane as time goes by without anything to latch onto in terms of fictional direction, and your focus shifts to other things. I do have a question for you, my friends. With two fictional excerpts that we’ve released thus far, we’ve posted about roughly 5 to 9 pages at the beginning of each month. Would you prefer two shorter but more frequent fiction entries twice a month, on the 1st and 15th, or one long but detailed entry on the 1st of each month?

And as noted earlier in the report, I will be engaging each of you directly in the next few fiction entries as the members of the Tal’mahe’Ra begins taking center stage- as I want to get your characters right. So I would ask that you begin taking the time to consider what your role within our team would be, aside from combat roles. Would you like to be a researcher, delving into ancient tomes? A private investigator type role, ferreting out clues on the scenes we visit as we begin hunting the Inquisitorius? Or perhaps a burly bodyguard role, protecting others as we undertake our work? Let me know what you feel would be the best role for your character in our team!
