The Tale of the Foggy Butcher

Foggy Butcher <--

The impenetrable fog had engulfed Port Kasiya, obscuring the usually vibrant city lights into a mere faint haze. It was for this fog that the Foggy Butcher was so called. Bodies began appearing in the mist, with a mysterious burn mark across the chest. The only security footage captured a mysterious silhouette in the fog, a robed figure holding a short weapon.

PKPF thought they had found their man, or, rather, woman, when Officer Marris Deyn from PKPF homicide proudly announced the arrest of Zuza Lottson. The timing matched up. Lottson had recently arrived in the Caelus system under mysterious circumstances, with rumours listing her as not only a former leader of hostile faction ‘Arcona’, but also an assassin. Kasiya media were all too quick to summarise the case as a hostile attack from Arcona, delivered by Lottson, and it was a narrative that convinced the public.

The OSI, however, weren’t so convinced. New director Cole Farrow, via the Vornskr Battalion, enlisted Orson Trent, a Port Kasiya man born and bred, to take a second look. Working closely with PKPF forensic scientist Selene Veyra, Orson dug deep into evidence from the crime scenes, despite PKPF officially closing the case.

Then, with Lottson still in custody, another murder occured. Same signature, same deadly weapon. Public faith in her guilt began to fray, and Orson Trent and Selene Veyra continued their investigation. Orson uncovered a trail of corruption leading straight to Officer Deyn, and as it turned out, to every single victim of the Foggy Butcher. As the pair dug deeper, they uncovered a story of Deyn masterminding a campaign of terror, using the murders to silence potential whistleblowers and deliberately shift suspicion onto Lottson.

Armed with the evidence uncovered by Trent and Veyra, a jury took under an hour to judge Deyn as guilty on multiple charges, including smuggling, corruption, and multiple homicides. Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Deyn had the audacity to insist he was the one framed as he was cuffed and taken to the Port Kasiya Prison. But the jury, and the public, had their minds made up.

Zuza Lottson was officially cleared of all charges, and the news that a PKPF officer caused a mixture of outrage that one of their protectors could turn to such a heinous crime, and celebration that he would face justice for them thanks to the efforts of the OSI. Orson Trent and Selene Veyra were celebrated as the ones responsible for catching the Foggy Butcher, Marris Deyn.

Want the full story? Did Deyn act alone? Is Orson the hero he appears to be?

Staffing Changes

Raiheaux has stepped away from PCON and I have hired Nobilus to fill the position.

I’ve hired Wade as M:CON

Darkblade is still doing great work as M:CON

New PCON Nobilus wrote an introduction:

Citzens of the Taldryan Republic, allies, and Sons & Daughters of Taldryan,

It is with great pride and a deep sense of purpose that I step into the role of Vice-Chancellor (Proconsul) of the Taldryan Republic.

For those of you who know me, you’ve seen my path wind through shadow and fire. Taldryan has always been more than a Clan to me; it is a cause worth fighting for, a legacy we shape with every word, blade, and decision. In this new position, I intend to serve not from above, but alongside every one of you—soldier, scholar, Sith, or even Jedi (yuck).

We stand at the crossroads of war and rebirth. The Republic is evolving. Enemies hide behind diplomacy, and allies can be found in the most unlikely corners of the galaxy. As Vice-Chancellor, my mission is to help sharpen our focus and secure our future—by supporting our Chancellor, uplifting our leadership, and ensuring that every member of Taldryan finds purpose and power in what comes next.

To those who have walked before me, I offer respect. To those who stand with me, I offer resolve.

The work begins now.

— Vice-Chancellor Nobilus
Proconsul of the Taldryan Republic
Governor of Elysia

New M:CON Wade wrote an introduction:

Hello everyone! My name is Wade and my character’s name is Narman Losa. I first joined the Brotherhood in 2006 under the name Draven Keshilla and was a member of Clan Tarentum. I returned to the Brotherhood after many years in 2016 with Clan Odan-Urr as Droveth. Real-life issues got in the way and I unfortunately had to step away again for an extended time, but like many members can attest, no one is ever truly gone. A little less than a year ago I returned once again and, seeking a fresh start, I joined Clan Taldryan and retired my old character for a new one. Other than a relatively brief stint as a writer for the Dark Voice newsletter, the role of Magistrate to the Consul will be my first position of responsibility in the Brotherhood. I look forward to learning a lot and contributing to the future success of Taldryan.

As you know, seasons is currently ongoing (⅓ done on this chapter), and we finished the Foggy Butcher event earlier this month. We celebrated the anniversary of the club as well. We’ve got another event upcoming (in two weeks).

Expect another report fairly shortly dedicated specifically to these things. I’d like to limit this one to the Foggy Butcher results and the new staff introductions.
