Great Mock War I Overview

Good day everyone!

As promised, here is the full breakdown of the primary details for the Great Mock War I which will be taking place from June 3rd until June 24th. The Republic has been divided into two teams, the Blue Wampas, and the Red Charhounds, as mentioned in Koda's first report as Vice-Chancellor.

This was done through a round-robin selection by the team captains, with a /roll determining who would go first. Groups have already been delegated into respective team channels on Discord, and if you cannot see your respective channel for some reason or think you were overlooked, please inform me immediately. Those channels are: #red-charhounds and #blue-wampas.

Right out of the gate, I do want to say that this mock war is fairly competition heavy. The GJW will not be forgiving, and to best prepare for it, the decision was made that this should not be either. I feel this specific quote from Vodo a while back best sums it up: "I know you're all busy, I know real life is in the way, but just like in a real GJW the timing is never going to be right and your time/energy/attention is always going to be divided."

Little did he know just how right he was until this very moment...

Also, to answer a specific question, because of the extensive fictional requirement usage of stun weaponry and training blade lightsabers with some modifications, this event is going to be considered Canon overall, similar to how a GJW will be. So feel free to work on developing your character, interacting with others, and using this as an opportunity to further them.

However, if specific things occur with your character during this that you do not want to be reflected as canon, we will honor all requests and either an NPC will be put in your place in situations, or specific references of character names in those situations omitted. Nothing involving your characters will be canon if you do not want it to be, end of line.

Great Mock War Point System

Similarly to an actual GJW, participation point values will be assigned to each bin. Event-Long Bins are worth 5 points, and Weekly Bins are worth 3. Taldryanites who participate in just one competition in all 7 bins will have 27 points already before any placements.

However, unlike a Rite of Supremacy or some feud-style events, the GJW is focused on placements. In keeping with that given our size and the relative scope of this mock war, placement points will be awarded to the top 6 of each competition instead of the traditional 10. We will not be using weights on specific competitions also due to our size and the war's scope (since it's just us, and not all clans), as the focus for us is to help you prepare yourselves for these kinds of competitions as they will most likely (not guaranteed) appear in the GJW.

Competition Breakdown

Within the mock war, there will be 20 different competitions of varying types which will potentially be present within the GJW. Here is the following listing in terms of competition archetypes.

Event Long Multimedia Bin
* Battleplan I (Offensive Type)
* Battleplan II (Defensive Type)
* Graphics (Drawing/Painting/Doodling)

Event Long Fiction Bin
* Fiction
* Co-Op Fiction
* Run-On
* ACC

Event Long Gaming Bin
* Supported Game Cluster Race
* Casual Game Cluster Race
* Bracket Challenge: Checkers (This will be open for registration beginning at midnight the start of June 3rd, until end of day site time, on June 4th; providing a 48-hour registration window.)

Week 1 Bin Core
* Fiction/Co-Op Fiction
* Gaming (Browser)

Week 1 Bin Miscellaneous
* Graphics (Drawing/Painting/Doodling)
* Multimedia (Design)
* Puzzle

Week 2 Bin Core
* Fiction
* Gaming (Browser)

Week 2 Bin Miscellaneous
* Graphics (Drawing/Painting/Doodling)
* Wiki Search
* Puzzle

Given the heavy weight placed upon the Event Long bins, as those generally are worth the most points and are the most time-intensive of the wars, the thought was that there should be a bit less emphasis on the weekly bins to provide ample time to focus on the event-long.

However, that does not mean you should ignore the weekly bins, as they will still add a significant portion to the final points and could easily sway the final total. GJW clan placements are known to be very close at times, even being decided by just one placement in the smallest of events.

Mock War Reward

While the original intention was to just have something fun to get the rust off and just have a friendly brother vs. brother event ahead of the war later this summer, many of you want something on the line; something up for stakes to up the ante much like a real war.

Well, we've heard you. Currently, at this time, we can not reveal any details at this time due to the hoops we are starting to jump through at the moment to get a specific reward potentially approved. Hopefully in the next few days, we will be able to disclose what it is. Let's just say, if approved, this is something your team will want to be a part of. If our proposal is not approved, we are actively discussing other rewards as well. So stay tuned, and we will keep you up to date.

That said, we are also accepting suggestions or ideas as well if there is something significant that anyone can think of. Just let us know!

Conclusion

That is all that I have for now, if anyone has any questions, feel free to let me or the summit know, and we hope you enjoy the coming events. A lot of hard work has gone into this, and we are very excited about it. Thank you everyone, and see you on June 3rd with the opening fiction and event launch!
