Hello everyone!
We’ve got an exciting list of major improvements to our character sheet systems! Thanks to James’s incredible work, you can now enjoy better sheet management, an additional character slot, and plenty of other enhancements.
One of the most significant changes we've introduced is the separation of characters from your dossier. You now have the flexibility to set an independent display name, honorifics, and avatar specifically for your dossier page. This feature is entirely optional, and you’re welcome to keep your dossier aligned with your primary character if that’s your preference. However, it opens up new possibilities, especially for new members or those who’ve traditionally used an OOC nickname within the club rather than their main character identity. Even if you stick with your primary name for consistency, this update still gives you the freedom to customize your dossier with distinct honorifics or an alternate avatar. Dossier updates are done through the “Account and Profile” section of your admin menu, while character specifics have all been moved and merged into one section.
Your primary character (PC) and any alternate characters (ALTs) are now all managed through the “Character Slots and NPCs” section in the admin menu.
This update centralizes character management into one convenient location. No more navigating to a separate page just to access or update your ALTs. Everything character-specific is now accessible from a single location.
This change not only simplifies how you manage your roster of characters, but also makes it easier to switch between them, update details, or review their information without extra steps. This means no going to a special location to manage your ALT characters.
From this page, you have a variety of powerful tools at your fingertips to manage your characters more efficiently. You can:
One of the standout features of this section is the ability to swap characters between slots. Want to promote an ALT to your primary character, or simply reorganize the order of your ALTs? Now you can do so easily, without needing to manually re-enter all the character information or create an entirely new sheet. The system takes care of the heavy lifting for you.
Do note, however, that available slots for swapping are rank-dependent. This means that if you want to move a character to another slot, that destination slot must be eligible to hold a character of that rank or higher.
On the topic of rank caps for character slots, we’ve made two major updates you’ll want to know about:
Previously, the free character slot you earned was hard-capped at JM4. That’s no longer the case. It now scales alongside your dossier rank, just like your other character slots. Each slot still has a maximum rank it can reach without earning additional ALT rank-ups.
Up until now, only the RP and ACC societies allowed you to level up your ALT slots beyond their default limits, with the potential to reach up to your current dossier rank. That functionality has now been extended to all societies, starting at Rank 7. So, if you’ve been hesitant to engage with RP or ACC due to social anxiety (which I super relate to), you’ll now have additional ways to boost your ALT slots without relying solely on those two paths.
Of course, RP and ACC are still highly encouraged, not only for progression, but also because they’re genuinely a lot of fun and a great way to connect with others in the community.
Note: The Character Admin page displays the maximum rank allowed for each slot. To adjust the rank of a specific slot, head to that slot’s Character Details section. Character ranks **do not auto-update* when you receive a dossier promotion or unlock higher caps. To take full advantage of your characters’ potential (and unlock associated sheet perks), make sure to manually update their rank in this section.*
We’ve heard your requests, and we’re excited to announce the addition of a sixth character slot to the site!
Quick Reminder: Not every character you create needs to occupy a full character slot. If you’re developing supporting or background characters, the Wikipedia feature is a great place to store and share that information without taking up one of your limited slots.
Free Slot: Automatically unlocked at JM4.
Purchasable Slots:
Sixth Slot Unlock:
Earned by reaching Rank XII in two pillar societies (GMRG, INQ, SA, or SYN)
Each character slot has a soft level cap. These range from one automatically being capped at your dossier rank all the way to a soft cap of four ranks below your dossier rank. These caps can be raised by hitting rank seven in any of the societies we have. It is possible to earn enough ALT rank ups for all ALT slots to be at your dossier rank.
None of this would have been possible without James working some magic on the code base. He has a few more goodies up his sleeve for us all as well. Make sure to thank him for these awesome upgrades!
