Hi everyone. Time for another Voice report, focused on changes regarding Transformation. This update involved a lot of aid from the Regent staff in helping update creatures with a new Challenge Rating system via tags.
Additionally, in this report, I am opening applications for two open M:Voice positions, so check out that section below if you are interested in joining the team.

First off, yes, we stole this directly from Dungeons and Dragons.
With the addition of the Transformation power, there have been requests for further specifics on what each level can turn into. Thanks to the recent addition of the possessions’ tag system, Thran suggested utilizing that to more easily assign values to each of the creatures currently in the system.
We both reviewed the current creatures, assigned a Challenge Rating value to each, compared notes, and then had Bubtra sign off on the final numbers.
The CR system is scaled in a 1-6 format. The basics are that the max CR rank you can use matches the same level of the Transformation power. Rank 6 creatures are considered too far for usage with the Transformation Force power.
Creatures are classified based on a Challenge Rating of how hard they are to turn into, ranging from CR 1 to CR 6. This Challenge Rating is based on size, rarity, tamability, and traits of the creature.
For example, Fireflies are untamable due to being small, simple insects, but have a CR of 1, as they are something you easily should be able to transform into (them or yourself). Rancors are tameable but also are big nightmare things, so they have a CR of 6.
These tags are most easily seen on a creature's prototype page or using the tags search in the item research section of the possessions system.

The full text change can be seen below for the Transformation power.

Why no changes to Creature Handling and Control?
This was explored in depth as part of this change. Both Handling and Control use the tameability component of creatures to indicate usage. While I did do a full write up of both using the CR format, it moved a lot of major creatures around beyond what people who use them have set for the skill level. It would also have locked out some creatures that are tameable but are not allowed to be transformed into.
To keep it simple, both Handling and Control will continue to use the creature's tameable item aspect to dictate what creature you can use. Transformation you use the CR system as the guide.

We have two currently unused Magistrate positions on the Voice Staff. While there are some general staff overlap between all members of #TeamVoice, these two positions will have different priorities.
In general, expect to be part of the discussion on new sheets, CS changes, and general Voice projects, that doesn’t mean both are going to be responsible for the same areas.
One of the Magistrates will be character sheet-focused. This means reviewing sheets as they come in, approving good ones, writing detailed remands on ones that need to be fixed, and being available as a good contact point for questions people might have regarding the CS system.
The other position is community-focused. This means maintaining regular Voice-sponsored competitions (double those CIs!), promoting member-run competitions, and generally trying to be an outgoing member of the community specifically in the #fiction-chat channel on Discord.
If interested, please fill out this form by September 13th.

Thank you for reading. As always, if you have any fiction-related questions, concerns, comments, or snide remarks, feel free to message me on Discord or send me an email [Log in to view e-mail addresses].
