Voice Report #6: Shake, Rattle, and Roll

Patient Praetors, Busy Voices:

Things are busy behind the scenes in the Office of the Voice of the Brotherhood. Project work, updates, approvals, competition planning, storylines, fielding questions, etc. Our hands are always on something these days, and you'll notice my staff is extremely sociable and on top of it with community interaction, enough so that by the time I get to answering one of your questions, two or three of my staffers have already weighed in on it. This is good, and by design. It has, however, raised a concern within my office, and a departure. Kinda.

Come the end of the month, Jenni will be taking her leave as my Praetor after expressing her own concerns. In normal conditions, I would open applications for a new Praetor and let the best of you duke it out for this role, however; I've already chosen a successor for her role based on the applications I had received for my previous application periods and my current staff.

Taking her place as my new Praetor? Teebu. As Teebu ascends to this post, Jenni will serve out the remainder of Teebu's Magistrate Term (Ending 31MAR2027).

Of Magistrates and Men:

Speaking of Magistrate terms within the Voices Office. One term is coming to an end at the end of this month, another draws to a close in September.

For years, one of the most patient and dedicated members of The Brotherhood has handled thousands of character sheets, managed aspect and feat adjustments, and been a solid voice of the community, answering questions time and again as people have reached out, with his time-tested knowledge. I want to thank Reiden for his service over the last several months as I return him back in to the wilderness as a much-loved and respected staffer, to relax and enjoy the DB as a regular member for a while.

Applications for M:Voice will be open through 31JULY2026

I don't have any major prerequisites for working in my office. Rank, position, experience, all of these things can be earned over time. The expectations I have of anyone seeking to work in our office, however, are an open mind, patience, and an interest in helping others. You'll find yourself putting each one of those traits to the test every day in the Voice's team.

The Duties of M:Voice vary based on project load, but at a baseline consist of:

• Processing Character Sheets for Approval/Remand
• Processing Competitions for Approval/Remand
• Reviewing Proposals (Feats, Species, etc.) delivered through the Voice Mailer for integration
• Reviewing and Integrating Custom Discipline Requests
• Workshopping various projects, updates, and adjustments to the Character Sheet Related Systems
• Working on loan with our Combat Master during keynote events/updates
• Community Relations/Outreach: People ask a lot of questions in Fiction Chat; our job is to answer them and be chatty
• Assisting with Community Events: Running or assisting others in running fiction-centered competitions, including [Lorefest]

Even with War and recent changes behind the scenes, it doesn't mean we've stopped putting out new patches!

Here's an overlook of the latest updates we've pushed out for your enjoyment:

Reverse Engineering

• Another winner requested by Bril Teg Erinos to address our lack of love for the Investigation skill, Reverse Engineering is a wonderful addition that pairs well with a few other Feats on the roster.
  

Force Dyad

• An update to an Elder 4-ranked power. This is simply aligning a top-tier power with the definitive rules/abilities added throughout the Sequel Trilogy, modified for system balance.

Whiphid

• Every now and then Magda Venn a.k.a. Ji hits me with something that just makes sense. This proposal was one of those moments. Initially delayed so we didn't add something new during War, we are glad to announce the arrival of Whiphids.
  

Theelin

• Othertimes you get someone who brings up a species that we know should be nailed down already, but hasn't been. That's the case with this submission from Wuntila Arconae who brought us a species with some interesting Canonical notes, new and old.
