New Star Wars Books Available for Pre-Order on Amazon!

Some news popping up concerning the previously mentioned new books in the SW Universe… including a release date, and pre-orders coming available.

In what looks like a planned bimonthly release schedule, the four new books that hallmark the start of the new Lucasfilm Story Group approved canon have recieved their initial release dates, along with three of them being made available for pre-order on Amazon.

A New Dawn Tarkin Heir to the Jedi Lords Of the Sith

As of yet, the release date for Lords of the Sith isn’t fully locked down, but the release cycle appears to be:

  • A New Dawn - September 2nd, 2014
  • Tarkin - November 4, 2014
  • Heir to the Jedi - January 13, 2015
  • Lords of the Sith - March, 2015

You can hit up the links on the first three images above to go to the Amazon Preorder Pages.

Am I the only one that isn't a James Luceno fan? His is the only name on that list I recognized.

Gimme some Stackpole or Zahn :P

I'm a massive fan of Kevin Hearne for another series he wrote (The Iron Druid Chronicles), so I'm looking forward to that one... but really, none of the 3 "established" Star Wars authors on that list really fill me with early confidence. This is the future though, so I'm gunna have to get on board :P

The only name I didn't know there was Hearne, actually. Miller did the Knight Errant series of comics as well as a novel along with the Knights of the Old Republic series of comics and Lost Tribe of the Sith tie-in short stories. I liked Kemp's two novels that focused on Jaden Korr (the guy from the Jedi Academy game).

I'm only interested in the last three. The first one looks like it'll just be fluff for Rebels anyway :P

John Jackson Miller is a solid comics writer with recent forays into SW novels, I'm a fan. Paul S Kemp less so - he did Riptide and Crosscurrent? Eh. But since it's about Sidious and Vader it's basically already awesome.

I'm going to try giving them all a go... I want to take the opportunity to stay on top of the "new" EU.

Bah, Riptide and Crosscurrent were fine books, especially for SW :P

only two I'd read are tarkin and sith. the others I am not interested in. heck, I have still never read a single x-wing series

Loved Riptide and Crosscurrent, Deceived less so, but Malgus was a dull character so not much Kemp could do there. Miller did the KOTOR comics (best Star Wars works outside Legacy), last years Kenobi novel, and the free Lost Tribe e-books, which were all cool, so... hopefully he can pull off a decent tie-in novel, as I admit some of the Clone Wars tie-ins weren't bad (I found Traviss's No Prisoners better than most of the first season's actual episodes).

Don't know much about Hearne, and Luceno is the guy with the magic continuity wand that can turn a pile of dung into a work of art, so... will be interesting to see how much they can manage to prevent him referencing as much as he possibly can from his earlier books like Plagueis or Dark Lord :P
