Star Wars: Dark Disciple

Dark Disciple

The newest Star Wars novel has just been released! The novel, Dark Disciple focuses on the characters of Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos as they team-up on a mission against Count Dooku.

As you can tell from the brief description, this novel takes place during the time of the Clone Wars. The plot itself was originally intended to be a part of the Clone Wars series itself, but as the show ended it was instead made into a novel. As such, this novel is very much in-continuity.

The novel is written by Christine Golden, who was one of the main writers on the Fate of the Jedi series, and has also written a fair number of other sci-fi and fantasy properties such as Star Trek, Warcraft and Starcraft. I have generally found her novels to be a fairly solid read. Nothing spectacular, but has a clear voice that keeps you invested in the plot. You can also check-out the excerpt of the novel if you are on the fence about it.

Colour me intrigued.

Saw this at Chapters today, but went with Tarkin in softcover instead. The Clone War stuff just doesn't interest me enough to get me to buy this. Maybe when it's out in softcover I'll take a crack at it, but after the Skywalker novel, I'm hesitant to drop $40 on the new stuff without a lot more reviews of it.

i managed to read the first chapter in the back of Lords of the Sith, i think this is gonna be entertaining. Ventress' character development was one of the most intriguing parts of TC for me.

I hadn't been looking forward to this after Golden's FOTJ books, and the Vostress shipping just gave me bad flashbacks to Ben and Vestara, but bizarrely nearly all the people whose reviews I trust are saying good things about the story... so I might give this a read.
