Arcona: Dwindling Smoke

beep

The horizon bore the first breaths of a new day, the inky blackness of night broken with shimmering rays of yellow and red. Red. Red.

As if highlighted, there was crimson strewn over the ground, the foliage of the Selenian jungle and the warring masses seeped deeper in the dawn rays. There was no question of if it was mud, smoke or blood; the only question was who the blood once belonged to as it dripped from blades slung through the air and stained their clothes and skin.

The puppets walked forward, lulled by her command, her promise of service and purpose, the licks of her insanity tethering them. Those who were friends and those who were foes combined into one lumbering army that moved with little organisation — yet attrition was a power unto itself. Blades and batons, blasters and explosives, whatever weapons they had were still grasped in hand, their eyes blurred onto the target in the distance. Cast in the sun’s growing light, Estle City upon its mountain home was finally in view.

Tiexsema’s gaze bore across the landscape towards it. So close, yet…

She wasn’t alone.

The united front of the four Clans held the line, despite being forced back several times leagues from their initial stand, the dwindling numbers and quaking, smoke-filled landscapes and the fires birthed to life where lava met forest. Despite all of that, still parcels of their forces stood, merging together on each new front and finding new unity as their people gradually became lost to her beckoning. Frustratingly so, given the effort of their Force users, of all alignment, to resist Tiexsema’s influence on themselves and their fellows. There were fabricated bubbles of safety from her call and demands. Linked minds bolstered in resolve.

Purple-ringed, red-veined eyes were a common feature between all. There had been successes: a village was evacuated thanks to the actions of a rogue pilot; explosive lines had managed to delay her puppeted army, killing swathes of those who couldn’t be saved; and with powerful members of the Clans coalescing within the chaos, strongholds had been held longer than they should have been.

Yet, as exhaustion, injuries or the noxious air broke them down another foothold was lost.

They were north of Pomonga County now, lining the edge of a township — the last one before the suburbs of Estle City sprawled. Strask Rurra’bek peered over the incoming forces. The glimpse of a small figure among the masses confirmed the inevitable. She’d been speaking to them for hours. Whispers. That they should bow down before their goddess. To allow her to free them from their pain, their worries, and simply be hers.

Shaking his head, the Bothan exhaled harshly before pressing the activator on his Royal Guard Commlink. The soldier wasn’t new to this kark, and the barked words came easily.

“Primary target on site, hold the line...”

Smoke has dwindled…

A huge thank you to Zuji and Atty for writing this fiction with me! For those who want the shorthand:

  • Zuza arrives at the Citadel and learns Maus had fell the entire city into dreams. She convinces him to wake them all up and instead aid her in her plan to stop Tiexsema.
  • Over at Giletta Spaceport Alla'su secured a transporter off planet with her caxqettes. Captain Jace Irunel and Lieutenant Ahken stop their escape and end up killing Alla'su and the caxxies in a grueling fight with losses.
  • After being driven back to nearly Estle City and dawn arriving, the allied forces encounter Tiexsema in a final stand. Strask, Aiden, Alaisy, and Tisto all fight the False goddess after she appears to have a disruption in her mass mind control. With a mix of battle meditation, melee prowless, and intense fear from Alaisy that utterly broke the Anzat, she is killed and the battle is finally won.
  • Zuza wakes up and learns that she and Maus was successful in their attempt to disrupt Tiexsema via transmitting the thoughts of every Ussun denizen and soldier into her psyche. Emergency and medical response are already being deployed.
  • Three days later, Zuza watches the remaining forces of the clans leave, promising to reconvene talks with CNS and reflecting on conversations with the others. Grateful of their help and in hopes of a break for her clan.

Safe to say my “total victory” requirement of 35 unique was smashed out of the waters. With a total number of 56 unique valid participants, y’all did amazingly. Like, hot DAMN.

In Part One: Rage Against the Schemes we had 50 participants, and only seemed to have a minimal drop off as Part Two: Of Fire and Brimstone had 47! That’s damn impressive!

All four clans came out en masse, Arcona seeing 40% of members taking part, Naga Sadow seeing 20%, Odan-Urr seeing 19% and Taldryan turning out just short of 20%.

If I was less lazy, I’d make that into a lovely pie chart for you all. Alas… (I got you wink ~Diy(the % under the clan names is participation % in the event as a whole))

But in all seriousness, for a multi-clan event without warning and not a feud or vendetta? That's insane. I know I said this already but sincerely thank you, both to Arcona as a ohana and our three allied partners in this mess. It was awesome reading and receiving all of the entries. Congratulations to every single member that participated!

Now, onto the juicy part, the results!

Our Top Ten!

Congratulations to all ten of you!

Our Leading Members of Each Clans

Clantops

The points were close on so many of these! You all really made it difficult. As promised with the event start, these top four earned an appearance in the fictional conclusion of the event.

Before we can wrap up Gods, We Dine In Brimstone fully, we must give a nod to the Diner that hosted us all, Brimstone Diner. Thank you for all the humorous memes and humor throughout the event, Brimstone and friends!
