Kashyyyk Rainforest Canopies

The wild planet of Kashyyyk is known to be home to the gentle, but short-tempered race of Wookiees. Wild and untamed, the lush, wroshyr tree-filled forests form a multi-layered deathtrap. The local wildlife present a threat as one descends towards the forest floor, though the battle-scarred beaches and the remnants of the Clone Wars provide refuge. However, as one ascends the danger of falling becomes the largest threat until coming in contact with the Wookiee settlements. Fauna and flora flourish in delight, growing within dirt pockets in the crevices of the trees. Some of these plants are carnivorous, becoming larger and deadlier closer to the forest floor. Others have some form of consciousness, able to communicate with the Wookiees to give some understanding of their use.

Above the Wookie settlements rests the wild rain forest canopies. Within the crevices of the trees, empty fruit and rotting shells from seeds show the spring season has ended. A soft wind whistles between the thick vines and shrubs that stick to the trunks of the ancient and sleeping giants. Despite the never-ending lack of footholds aside from the branches of wroshyr trees, a series of abandoned and rotting platforms are suspended a hundred meters above the surface, once home to its own Wookiee settlement. Overgrown and decayed, it has since nourished countless plants and trees with their outstretched branches sheltering the dense and soft floor from the extreme sun rays and torrential rain. Upon closer inspection unusual signs become notable. Moss carpets particular areas on the platforms and nowhere else, and tree-dwelling animals and birds never seem to land on the surface.

Tread carefully, or fall whim to the creatures that inhabit this terrain.

The leaves waved gently as Titius stalked along the bridge. Light was slowly penetrating the slips of sky visible through the foliage, mere minutes to dawn. The specialist was running out of time. Soon the forest would be awakening and the carnage he had laid in the darkness would appear. Quickening his pace, Titius made for a connecting bridge. As his foot met the first boards a sharp chirp of blasterfire echoed out. The woven handrail frayed and snapped as the bolt sheared through. Titius threw himself prone, dropping his profile to nearly nothing.

“Stitches, go find whatever sandfly is after us.” In response, a black disk shot out from beside Titius. The jet black probot paused to unfurl its limbs before losing itself in the canopy. Rolling over, the mercenary armed himself. Backtracking the shot, he leveled his scope on likely areas ahead. As the scope swung around, a dull red silhouette came to life. The bright orange point at its center belay the recently fired weapon in its hands. “Never mind, Stitches. I found them. “

Sitting in their hide, Cole had to admit his butt was becoming increasingly sore. His only movement from the past three hours had been to sight in his scope on the bridge. While painful, it had been a necessary stillness. He had seen what this killer could do and was resolved to bring their reign to a screeching halt. But the first shot missed.

Cole was slightly impressed by the reaction from Titius. The recovery from being shot at was practiced and precise. “A shame it won't matter.” Cole drilled another shot through the dawn. The way the target jerked, he knew it had been a good shot. There were many who could take a lot of hurt without flinching but a blaster shot into flesh still shocked.

Gritting his teeth, Titius rolled himself over. His bio-implant immediately began silencing the pain as he loosed a volley of micro-grenades into the area. The green bloom immediately went to work thinning the plant matter around the aggressor. Titius began to move to better cover, satisfied his opponent was flushed from their perch.
