Matron_TheGauntlet

The Godless Matron was once a Trade Federation battleship, crewed by countless droid workers. Since then, many sections of the ship have fallen into disrepair due to the sheer amount of manpower involved in its maintenance. As a result, parts of the central sphere of the Lucrehulk-class battleship has been left to the ravages of time and the scars of the Clone War itself.

The crew has come to refer to this section of the Matron as The Gauntlet, largely due to the danger it represents. Located in the lower regions of the command sphere, it is a crosshatched network of ruined and damaged hallways, repair bays, and even crew quarters. While most power has been shut off to this section — save for critical systems such as life support — the systems and circuitry still require occasional maintenance in order to keep the entire framework operational. Such tech runs have become a matter of betting amongst the crew, earning it the nickname: running the gauntlet.

A heavy layer of dust sits mostly undisturbed along the debris of the halls, save for the footprints of the few crew that have tread the path before. These previously walked paths are a safety net for those who venture into The Gauntlet unknowingly. It is also thought that the remaining Separatist forces staged a last ditch defense within this area of the ship, and did so by any means necessary. Many traps, ranging from explosives to spring-loaded mechanisms, are littered throughout the untraveled pathways — or even still undisturbed within the known sections. Further still, malfunctioning B1 droids and even semi-active Spy Drones remain, ready to ambush the unsuspecting observer and adding to the dangers of the dark, debris filled tomb The Gauntlet has become.

The mission was simple, or so Brujah would have thought. There had been waves of intelligence coming in reporting suspected Jedi activity in the area of Godless Matron. The job was to set a trap and bring back the remains of any Jedi encountered. A message that would ring clear to any further intruders.

Brujah had sent out a falsified distress signal, calling for the immediate help of any Jedi under the ruse that one of their spies had been outed. He paced the derelict hallways, reaching out for any signs of a Force user, but felt nothing. Were his senses tricking him? Moments ago he felt a presence, a strong presence, but it was like it had dropped off the map completely.

"INTRUDER!" screamed a B1 droid as it fired a blaster shot at the Sith from behind.

The darkened hallway sprang to crimson brightness with a loud crack and hiss as the Battlemaster's lightsaber jumped to life. Almost effortlessly, the Sith batted the shot away as he spun to face the droid. The bolt crashed off the wall and ricocheted back towards the droid, making the B1 panic in its deranged condition. Before the bolt could even reach the droid, the Sith leapt at it, taking off its head with one clean slice. The droid let out a small scream as its head and body fell to the floor in opposite directions, kicking up a small cloud of dust. Brujah laughed a little under his breath.

"Maybe one of you guys took out the Jedi before I could get my hands on him, huh?" the Battlemaster laughed.

"Not today." rang out a voice from no where.

Brujah spun around to face his adversary but no one was there.

"Hiding? Aren't tricks beneath your kind? Show yourself and face your demise like a warrior." Brujah spat.

Just then Brujah felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned, slicing from head level downward, this time taking the entire upper torso off of the droid he had killed moments ago; his still unknown opponent controlled the body with the Force. Warning sirens rang out in Brujah's mind as he heard two lightsaber scream to life behind him. He committed his spin from attacking the droid and completed the 360 degree spin batting away two orange blades.

The presence of the enemy finally hit the Sith. This was no mere Jedi Knight. This had to be a Sentinel, and a particularly powerful one at that. Before he could assess anything further about the cloaked Jedi, he was forced to jump on the defensive. Batting away aggressive strikes from the Jedi, Brujah backed up slightly trying to gain his footing and form. Sparks shot out of loose hanging wires as the three lightsaber clashed together in a dance of death down the hallway.

"Enough!" Brujah screamed as he fired his Lanvarok at the Jedi with his left hand. A quick "POP!" rang out as a net came flying at the Jedi.
