Dathomir Desolate Swamp

Once, it was the home to the witches of Dathomir, otherwise known as the Nightsisters. Tucked away in from the rest of the galaxy in an isolated cluster, the Nightsisters were able to draw energy from the planet itself, and pursued a type of ritualistic magic. They ruled over the population of Zabrak—Nightbrothers—and used them as a warrior caste to serve their purposes.

Then, the Clone Wars. The Nightsisters were pulled into the conflict due to the machinations of Mother Talzin and her rival Darth Sidious. This ultimately led to the eradication of the Dathomirians and their settlements. The desolation was claimed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems after the last Nightsister fell.

Now, the planet known as Dathomir is a haunted skeleton of its former greatness. A perpetual crimson glow coats the planet. The bleak world has become an amalgamation of ruined forest, decrepit swamp lands, and withered mountains worn to the sands of time.

In the desolate swamps, faint echoes haunt the graves of the long-dead witches, infusing the green fog that spreads above the damp ground. Dreadful whispers rumoured to be lingering incantations defend the world from intruders. Tall tales and rumors of zombies and ritual sacrifice alluding to grisly flashes of imagery.

The trees, large and misshapen, promise misery to those who touch their tortured bark and open themselves to the memories of the place. Eerie as the voices over the wind, the water beneath the fog appears red and bubbling, as if the land itself were pockmarked in cauldrons of blood to keep the incantations alive.

Creatures unaffected by the purge of the Nightsisters still remain. Snakes, reptiles and insects of varying lethality wander the wasteland. Reports have even said that rancor still roam freely.

This is Dathomir.

Rajhin dropped to the prone behind a log as a blaster round had almost nicked his ear. He had been eluding rounds from nowhere deadly since coming to Dathomir in light of what could've been an artifact that gathered and compressed dense energy from the Dark Side. The readings were of interest to investigate himself, along with an escort of his royal guard and a sect of krath arcanists and alchemists of whom were now all dead. His capital vessel was still in orbit and the Fist could call for a wave of reinforcements, but the blaster rounds gave indication that this wasn't an army he faced, but perhaps an individual. It was of his own pride he decided to face this foe himself. Rajhin tried to pinpoint a location from where the most recent blast trajectory had originated but could hardly make out anything amongst the dense nightfall mist of Dathomir's bog. He sent out his drone, J'zargo, for an overhead view and to scan the sector and relay the recording to his datapad but soon after the connection was cut between them.

"J'zargo, come in! Do you read?!" Rajhin said with stress through the comlink. There was still only silence and static in response. The Togorian made a low growl and leaped from his cover at a seemingly superhuman speed and extent. A flurry of rounds flew from the mist but in a spinning motion and wave of his spear those that would have reached him were deflected. He landed with a roll into a pose from a Tera Kasi kata by instinct and found a tree for cover just as more rounds came through the fog. Rajhin thought he found where his attacker fired from after that stunt, but blaster fire came from a different direction and at an angle the tree didn't protect. He deflected them and felt they had been less impactful by comparison to the one's during his jump. He lept towards it but found nothing, yet his ears caught the hum of a familiar repulsor lift above him. What seemed to be his drone flew deeper into a gnarled forested.

"J'zargo? Wait!" Rahjin said into the comlink. He cursed at being ignored. What he saw looked like his droid, but J'zargo fires beam lasers from ascendant crystals, not the yellow rounds he had been deflecting. Following the droid into the brush was likely an ambush, but his pride would not let him run like prey. He was the Fist of the Brotherhood, the Apex Predator of the galaxy. This was but just another tactic to overcome, though it angered him in having to fight some shadow. As he crept through the forest for a time a strange noise came through his comlink, and then a series of static before eventually a voice was heard, "Now that I've gotten a better look at you, I'm curious as to why you aren't armed with a blaster. Do you always go into the field dressed for ceremony?"

"Where is my droid! Show yourself! Fight me with honor," Rajhin replied in growing anger.

"Honor," the voice replied in a lower tone, "an ideal subjective to different cultures. Why do I care for the respect of my pelt? You've already disrespected me by bringing primitive tools. You are aware that in war how much further you can reach your foe than they you, the better your advantage, right? Ranged weapons will always be superior to melee, yet you walk with a stick and knife."

"Do not lecture me on tactics, coward! I know all the ways of war and command the greatest force in the Outer Rim. You would be wise to flee before me before the last of my mercy is spent."

"I know who you are. You are no Dracaryis, which is whom I had hoped to hunt. Instead, they've put some animal as a placeholder. Your death will send a message to the Council on how foolish they've become."

Rajhin turned to find his drone approaching him from the east. It had almost calmed him to see the droid, but his senses kept him on guard in feeling a strange presence in the Force. J'zargo fired a laser beam at its master, with whom darted deeper into the forest in avoidance. He leapt from tree to tree as the beam tried to follow but was caught off guard from what looked to be J'zargo at another angle firing a second beam from the south. After finding a landing point in a clearing, he stretched out both arms to call upon the Force and telekinetically took hold of the droids. A sudden blaster bolt ricochet off a tree and grazed against his cloak. He completed the motion that slightly smashed the two droids together and spun his spear in a fanning motion to deflect another which bounced off a different tree from another direction. The bolts continued to grow and come from a multitude of different directions that forced Rajhin to produce a barrier in response. Through the shield he was able to get a good on how these bolts traveled and spotted disks placed around the clearing. The realization in being lured into a killzone had been expected, but still made his blood boil in walking into it. He planted his fist into the ground and a shockwave of energy blasted in every direction from him. The surrounded trees broke at the trunk and all manner of minor brush uprooted. A quick scan of the area revealed a slightly opaque humanoid in black Mandalorian armor. The camouflage system slightly malfunctioned under the duress of the telekinetic wave, but the Mandalorian still stood firm from the strike's area of effect. Rajhin charged with an enhanced speed and jumped high into the air once his foe took flight from a jetpack. The Lion's Claw almost had it's grasp before a punching motion by the Mandalorian sent a telekinetic strike that knocked Rajhin back to the clearing. The feline landed on its feet and grinned in delight in confirming the presence in the Force he felt before. The screech of whistling birds rained down and followed in a trail along the path Rajhin took into parts of the forest where the trees could conceal him from overview.

"You can't hide. The transporter you and your crew came here on is destroyed, and I've cut the connections to your capital ship in orbit. Your weapons are inferior, the droid is hacked, and you face a foe that knows how to fight Force Users. Seriously, why don't you have a modern weapon? Does this not confirm that you're just a puppet figurehead of the council? What quality does a beast bring for the Iron Forces? Help me make sense of this before I present them with your corpse."
