You step out onto the training field and squint momentarily as the sunlight hits your face. When your eyes adjust, you look around you and see the trappings common to military campuses - stout buildings with fluttering flags, a paved parade square, and heavily armed battlements. The training field itself is meticulously maintained grass that could easily act as a landing field for dozens of fighters and transports. The horizon is clear of all but trees and the ominous weapons turrets that ring the walls.

The cadets of the Taldryan Military Institute see you, tensing to attention as they notice your battle armour. They are hurriedly ordered off the field by their officers and rush into the safety of the closest buildings. You see the guards in the battlements re-direct their attention from the exterior of the campus to you, but they know not to interfere in the affairs of Jedi.

Without the bustle of the cadets and the barked orders of their officers, the air grows still and even the sounds of animals quiets. You walk to the center of the training field and wait for your opponent

Kenath Zoron rolled out his shoulders as he watched his old friend, Aiden Dru, walk out from another building on the other end of the training field. Dru was twirling his stun batons casually and the swagger in his step was obvious to anyone in the vicinity.

“Z!” Dru’s face split into a wide smile and he turned to face Zoron directly. In the quiet of the field, there was no issue hearing each other.

Zoron nodded to the smaller man, a small smirk twitching its way onto his lips. “Dru. You’re the opponent today? I though the schedule had me beating up on some new guy.” At one point, Dru had been his supervisor, though in recent months Zoron had bypassed Dru, taking over the roles left vacant by Dru’s unexplained disappearance.

“I asked the Combat Master to adjust the schedule a little bit. I figured you could use a beating yourself just to keep you honest.”

If there was one thing that Dru wasn’t lacking, it was confidence. From their many battles together, Zoron knew that the other man was a talented brawler and duelist. The problem was that he was still 50 yards away, so Zoron took advantage of that. He unslung his rifle and sighted down the barrel. He squeezed the trigger once, twice, three times and watched the trio of bolts scream toward Dru. The other man got lucky though, and took a step back in surprise, tripping over a curb. Dru tumbled to the ground as the shots cut through the air where he had just been. Zoron cursed under his breath and re-sighted on his fallen opponent.
