In the distant past, the Catacombs of Cadera were a series of ancient structures located beneath the surface of the sacred moon of Jedha. Hidden within was a monastery, serving as a burial ground for an Order of NiJedha Monks. In the wake of tbe Death Star's attack, however, the moon's surface was sundered, all but annihilating the Catacombs and the monastery hidden within.

You have fallen into darkness. Deep below Jedha's devastated surface, you find yourself lost within the remnants of the Catacombs—only ruins now remain. As your eyes adjust, you realize only a few shafts of hazy, pale green light are all you have to see by. Every step, every breath you take echoes off of the cavern-like walls. You run a hand over a hand over one of the pillars adorning the ruins and feel the carved stone flake at your touch. That they still hold the ceiling in place above your head is a miracle.

You must tread cautiously. Taking careful steps forward, you feel the sickening crunch of skeletal remains beneath your feet. The hollow sound of shattering bones rings throughout the catacombs. Announcing your presence to whoever or whatever may reside here. The air is fetid and clouded with dust you stir up with every movement.

As you wander you realize these ruins are labyrinthine—a tangled maze of broken and collapsed tunnels crisscrossing haphazardly leading to who knows where. Each path you take is fraught with hazards or dead ends. From deep within the darkness, you begin to hear whispers—a constant buzzing in the back of your mind that quickly puts you on edge. The spirits of the dead slumber restlessly here. You must escape this place, but, before you can begin to search for an exit, you hear footsteps methodically moving toward you.

Tread lightly in the Ruins of Cadera... for you are not alone.

The quiet of the Cadera Ruins felt wrong. Wind moved through broken stone and half-buried arches, stirring dust from carvings worn smoothly by age and neglect. Morvyn emerged from the rubble with deliberate steps and stopped at the edge of a sunken courtyard. Kah’ri Marru sat at its center.

He sat among the fallen pillars without moving. His posture was steady, but it felt strained. The Force surrounding Kah’ri stirred with unease. The currents crossed and obscured one another like they held together through focus rather than balance. Morvyn pushed against it instinctively and found no discernible presence to grasp. Beneath that resistance ran a faint presence of the Light Side. The presence was not strong, but it was enough to be felt. To Morvyn, it felt wrong.

“So, this is where you’re hiding,” Morvyn said, his voice echoing through the empty chamber.

Kah’ri did not open his eyes. His brow tightened as his concentration slipped. He did not rise. Morvyn’s presence pressed into the courtyard like a weight, and the stillness fractured under it.

Morvyn descended into the broken stone room. “You failed your mission,” he continued. “You went silent, and the target lives.”

Kah’ri exhaled slowly and rose. He moved in a controlled manner, but the movement was tense. His eyes opened then, unfocused for a fraction of a second before settling. He had not resolved the uncertainty within himself.

Morvyn ignited his lightsaber in response. Crimson-orange light of his saber cut across the courtyard.

“You will come back with me, or I will end it here.” Morvyn demanded.

Kah’ri did not say a word. Instead, golden light flared to life in his right hand as his lightsaber ignited. A second blade followed, green, its presence disruptive in the Force. Morvyn felt the absence immediately, the hollow where corruption should have lingered. He didn’t need certainty to know that the crystal had once been Kah’ri’s previous red one. The realization hardened into resolve.

Morvyn moved first.

He closed the distance in a quick burst, choosing a single decisive strike. Kah’ri reacted on instinct. His gold blade catching the blow and turning it aside, the green saber followed up late but firm to brace the redirection. The impact sent a jolt through both men. Their boots grinding against fractured stone.

Morvyn pressed forward again, driving into Kah'ri's space and forcing him to set his footing. Kah’ri answered, blades crossing inward as he absorbed the pressure rather than yielding to it. Their lightsabers locked, power grinding against power as the Force strained around the contact. They held there together, and time seemed to halt around them. Neither was giving ground.

The ruins seemed to lean inward as the moment stretched, violence suspended only by the effort it took to hold it back.

Gold, green, and red lights danced in Kah’ri’s eyes, the three blades hissing at each other as their wielders held pressure. This was not a desirable position for either of them, but Kah’ri was far less receptive to the deadlock shifting in his opponent’s favor. His eyes closed, he called on the Force and half-opened his off-hand. Morvyn slid backward several meters as if yanked by a speeder, but never lost his footing.

Kah’ri stood upright and set a determined gaze on his Togruta assailant. His blades crossed in front of that gaze then slowly settled down by his sides in a wide open stance. Morvyn saw the gesture as an invitation, but more than that - it was a challenge; a dare. His eyes widened and sheer bloodlust set ablaze inside the sith. How. DARE! This WEAK man insult me like this?! he thought loudly.

“You are DEAD!” Morvyn tried to say, but all that came out was a gutteral roar as his body filled with power and he leapt across the distance.

Kah’ri stepped to the side in a fast and smooth motion, barely missing Morvyn’s lightsaber. The togruta landed and the ground around him bent under the weight of the strike. The shock reverberated throughout the room and pieces of the ceiling cracked, falling to the floor somewhere behind Kah’ri.

Before Kah’ri could counter, Morvyn came up with a diagonal swing, just as strong as the last. Kah’ri folded backward, avoiding the crimson blade even more narrowly than before. Morvyn’s strike hit a support column, which crumbled halfway to its center from the impact.

Kah’ri moved quickly, leaping over his opponent for a two-hit attack. Morvyn caught the first blade with his own, leaving his back exposed. As the second blade sought its mark, Morvyn twisted and ducked before deactivating his lightsaber. Kah’ri’s blades scissored at the air beneath him. Keeping momentum, Kah’ri landed and pivoted to face the sith, who was now WAY too close for Kah’ri’s liking.

Morvyn was already swinging a reignited lightsaber when Kah’ri spun around, the power in his arms unchanged. Kah’ri’s stance shifted to absorb attacks rather than deflect them. Kah’ri parried. Parry again. And again. Each hit felt harder than the last. Each taking more ground from him.

The room around them was not meant for this and it showed. With each clash, the ground shook, dust fell from the ceiling, and parts of the walls crumbled to the ground.

Morvyn noted the damage, but didn’t care. Kah’ri’s form was falling apart just like the room. He no longer looked like an opponent. Now, he was prey.

Morvyn continued to press into Kah’ri space with each clash. His strikes shortened as the room and pillars continued to groan around them. Kah’ri searched for an opening as his opponent continued the relentless pursuit. He found none, as another one of Morvyn’s strikes slammed into the pillar beside him. The chamber groaned as a deep crack shot up the pillar and sprawled across the ceiling.

The stone structure above them failed as dust poured from the crack. Chunks of rock broke and slammed into the space between them.

Kah’ri narrowly dodged the falling stone above him with a back step, leaving his back almost pressed against a wall. Morvyn reached into the Force and tore a massive slab free from the crumbling ceiling, hurling it down the corridor. Kah’ri dove out of the way as the hurled stone crashed into the wall. Dust and debris had clouded the air as the shock triggered another collapse. This time the collapse buried the only exit. As the ruins continued to fail, Kah’ri felt a sudden breeze. A jagged passage had opened in the wall where he had stood moments before. The dust gave him just enough cover to make a break for the alternative exit before the rest of the room came down around them.

The collapse sealed the exit and knocked Morvyn off his feet. He scrambled to his feet just fast enough to see Kah’ri make a beeline for the new opening in the wall. He did not hesitate and began his pursuit again. Another rock fell from the ceiling and was about to obstruct his path. Morvyn brought his lightsaber up in a swift slash, splitting the rock before him in two.

“GET BACK HERE, YOU WOMP RAT!” The yell from Morvyn reverberated on the stone walls. As Morvyn made it through the passage in the wall, the room behind began its final collapse.

The passage in the wall led into a two-person wide hall after the length of a man. The stone around Kah’ri shook as the room he had just been in folded in on itself. He did not wait to see if something had crushed the togruta. Kah’ri could barely make out the light of a torch-lit room ahead. He planned to reach the room and reposition to catch Morvyn in a bottleneck.

Morvyn’s anger surged within him as he emerged from the dust behind him to see Kah’ri’s silhouette framed by the glow of his gold and emerald lightsabers. Arcs of electricity formed between the fingers on Morvyn’s left hand as he raised it to face his opponents’ direction. Lightning tore from his fingers in a jagged arc, casting white-blue light down the ancient hallway. It was a single, brutal release meant to punish and stun Kah’ri. The confined space amplified the effect, energy crawling along the walls and ceiling as it lashed forward.

Kah’ri sensed it at the last moment, but not fast enough to do anything about it. Lightning tore through his clothing and crawled across his back in branching paths, burning cloth to ash and searing skin beneath it. The smell of scorched fabric and flesh followed as the energy dissipated. Only smoking and blackened streaks in its wake. A menacing grin came across Morvyn’s face as his attack met its mark. He continued his pursuit down the hall as Kah’ri stumbled forward onto one knee.

As Morvyn reached the stunned Kah’ri, he raised his lightsaber, planning to bring an end to this fight and this traitor. Kah’ri regained his composure and turned just fast enough to catch Morvyn’s crimson blade with his own gold one. Kah’ri’s lightsaber remained locked, protecting him as his half-twisted kneeling position failed, causing him to land on his back. He winced at the pain coming from his freshly seared back. Morvyn towered over him and leaned in.

“You have lost,” he growled. “I would prefer if you didn’t surrender, so I can bring you back in pieces.” Morvyn had leaned in close enough that Kah’ri could clearly see the togruta’s scarred face in the glow of the lightsabers.

Kah’ri knew he had to do something, or this was it. As he strained under the weight of Morvyn’s lightsaber, he took a deep, measured breath to center himself. He dropped the hilt of his green lightsaber and placed his free hand against Morvyn’s chest. It took an instant too long for Morvyn to realize what was happening. Kah’ri sent him flying back with a release of Force energy. Morvyn slammed against a wall behind him and then fell to his knees, lightsaber still active. Kah’ri rose to his feet and backed up from where Morvyn landed. He raised his free hand and summoned his green lightsaber back to his grip, activating the blade. Morvyn stood and paused as the two squared off with each other ten feet away from Kah’ri.
