Kashyyyk Rainforest Canopies

The wild planet of Kashyyyk is known to be home to the gentle, but short-tempered race of Wookiees. Wild and untamed, the lush, wroshyr tree-filled forests form a multi-layered deathtrap. The local wildlife present a threat as one descends towards the forest floor, though the battle-scarred beaches and the remnants of the Clone Wars provide refuge. However, as one ascends the danger of falling becomes the largest threat until coming in contact with the Wookiee settlements. Fauna and flora flourish in delight, growing within dirt pockets in the crevices of the trees. Some of these plants are carnivorous, becoming larger and deadlier closer to the forest floor. Others have some form of consciousness, able to communicate with the Wookiees to give some understanding of their use.

Kashyyyk Rainforest Canopies

Above the Wookie settlements rests the wild rain forest canopies. Within the crevices of the trees, empty fruit and rotting shells from seeds show the spring season has ended. A soft wind whistles between the thick vines and shrubs that stick to the trunks of the ancient and sleeping giants. Despite the never-ending lack of footholds aside from the branches of wroshyr trees, a series of abandoned and rotting platforms are suspended a hundred meters above the surface, once home to its own Wookiee settlement. Overgrown and decayed, it has since nourished countless plants and trees with their outstretched branches sheltering the dense and soft floor from the extreme sun rays and torrential rain. Upon closer inspection unusual signs become notable. Moss carpets particular areas on the platforms and nowhere else, and tree-dwelling animals and birds never seem to land on the surface.

Tread carefully, or fall whim to the creatures that inhabit this terrain.

The platform gave a sighing creak as the Devaronian stepped onto it. Skillfully, he moved himself through the vines and branches of the heart of Kashyyyk, the abandoned Wookiee settlement below him. Three days had passed since he arrived on the planet, three days full of green lifelessness and the slow melting of spring into the tropical summer. Somewhere in the middle of all those brown and green shades was supposed to be his target. His contacts had told him it was just a simple middleman, someone using the abandoned but dangerous wilderness of Kashyyyk to get his hands on an encrypted data cassette. This cassette would be much better in Taurus’ hands than in the deep pockets of the Syndicate. Taurus was sure this had to be the point. It felt right. He carefully leaned himself over the rotten railing of vines that was already falling apart and looked down to the green moss floor of the jungle, hundreds of meters below him. Nothing. Except moss green, leaf green, dark green, and greenish branches and leaves, there was nothing there. He took a few steps over the squeaking planks and pulled himself over to the next platform. “Maybe closer to the ground?” Taurus thought out loud into the humming silence. “Maybe it is someone with at least a bit of experience, maybe...” he kept thinking while climbing down the rotten ladders. When he arrived on the lower platform, he absentmindedly checked his equipment, his hands already ready near his Enforcer pistols. Through his HUD, he watched the possible paths his target could have used to climb up, but the more he thought, the more he had the feeling that he was thinking too much. The middleman would either move over the platforms or sneak in from the ground, even if the second option was already very daring. Taurus was not even sure what might still be hiding down there, and right now he definitely did not want to find out. “Moss green, leaf green, branch brown, dead wood grey, mottled green...” Taurus let his eyes wander once more. “Wait, mottled green?” Irritated, he stared at the platform opposite him, where only seconds before he had caught that new shade of green. He could have sworn he knew that green, from stories. “Please let it not be what I think.” Carefully, he drew both of his pistols, his eyes focused on the platform across from him. Out of the shadow of the trunk, the familiar figure of the Nautolan stepped free, with the mottled green skin. Raiju Kang was the middleman.
