Moraband, known in antiquity as Korriban, is a harsh, desolate planet that is indelibly linked to its history as the ancient homeworld of the Sith. Its barren landscape, which is covered by red sands and a crimson sky, sporting towering rock formations born from the remnants of temples and tombs. The planet itself is saturated with the Dark Side of the Force, the result of nefarious rituals once performed by Sith forefathers.

One area of particular interest on the planet is the Valley of the Dark Lords, a narrow area between two cliff walls into which ancient tombs have been carved for fallen Sith Lords. The sealed tombs once concealed mysteries and dark powers connected to legends like Exar Kun and Naga Sadow, though decades of scavenging from looters and wannabe acolytes alike have left varying amounts of debris across the sand, leaving it questionable as to what remains.

What is certain is the presence of a dark energy that seeps from these tombs that renders the air around their rocky surroundings still, suffocating, maddening – as if too much humidity somehow exists in the desert environs. The tales of Sith Spirits returning from the dead to prey on the meek and feeble don't seem like an exaggeration in this ancient landscape. One can only hope and pray that these stories aren't based on reality.

Valin peered through his scope, looking for his quarry. He had been tracking a woman, Mihoshi Keibatsu, for just over a week now. This murderess had killed a few thousand people on his home planet of Me’suumb’Mando’ad. Where there once was a thriving small trade city between the capitals of Clan Valin’s and House Ardes’ territories, there was now a ghost town. How she had killed them he was not told, nor why; just that she had some years ago.

He spotted her down his scope. She was far out of range, or he would have fired now, but was walking towards an area rich with cliffs and rock pillars. ’Finally’, Valin thought then moved his scope over towards the pillars.

Having decided on his course of action, he moved back from his perch. He was up on a cliff across the rocky plain from where his quarry was headed. Reaching a distance from where he was sure he could circle around without being noticed, he fired up his jetpack and flew towards the rocky pillars.

Valin landed on a particularly large pillar. Its top had some loose gravel, but nothing that would be a danger to him, so he laid prone. He again found the murderess in his scope and waited for her to walk into range. Once she entered his maximum range she stopped and looked straight at his position. ’There’s no way she can see me from this far out.’ Ignoring the apparent fact that his quarry had noticed him, he fired. He watched as the slug traveled in a blur towards the woman. It looked like a clean headshot.

It only looked that way though.

Instead of the woman falling down dead from a slug between the eyes, the bullet was floating midair a few feet in front of her. Valin watched as the slug fell to the ground. ’The Force,’ Valin thought, wishing his contact had told him this Keibatsu woman was a practitioner of the mystical energy.

Knowing a ranged fight would only lead to a stalemate, Valin set down his rifle. He then dropped off the pillar, letting his jetpack catch him half way down and flew straight towards his enemy, firing a volley of blaster bolts from his vambraces.
