endor

Located within the Moddell Sector of the Outer Rim territories, the Endor system is a well known location of much importance to the Galactic Civil War. This was the location of the destruction of the second Death Star, and the deaths of both Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. It was this victory and this location that allowed the Rebel Alliance to become the New Republic.

The Forest Moon of Endor, designated IX3244-A, is the ninth moon of the planet Endor. Its surface is covered in dense forests of redwood trees. Several of these trees were connected via wood plank bridges and walkways by the local Ewok population, who made their homes within the trees, high above the forest floor.

You have arrived at night. The thick foliage of the trees blocks out almost all external light sources, making it very difficult to see without naturally or artificially enhanced vision, or at least some kind of light. The sounds of nearby streams can be heard, as well as the chirps of thousands of nearby insects and birds. As you begin to settle into the business that brought you here, the loud, startling “TOOO-ROOOO!” of some kind of horn rang out nearby... then another in the distance, and another.

Maeva crouched in the foliage of the forest moon of Endor. She was searching for a rare plant that was said to only blossom at night. Her amethyst eyes scanned the foliage as she gently brushed back the various leaves. She sighed as she let herself fall back on her haunches. "Nothing." She wiped the sweat from her brow. Despite the lateness of the night, her clothes still clung to her form. It's got to be around here, she mused as she took a moment to take in her surroundings. Something animalistic within her felt alive. Truly this was a wonderland for a predator.

As Maeva shook her head, something caught her eye. Off in the distance, something glowed in the infrared spectrum. Anyone else would have smiled at their good fortune. Maeva merely dusted herself off as she stood. That was it! Before she had taken a step, she heard the boom of a starship braking. She turned her head as spotlights painted the forest floor over her quarry. The dirt thrown up from the repulsorlifts assaulted her face as she turned away. Despite the whine of the starship, she heard a howl and then a thump.

Maeva blinked the dirt from her eyes as the spotlights disappeared and the transport flew off. Through her watery eyes she saw a massive form writhing on the ground, crushing the plant she needed. Kamjin the Hutt rolled over with a groan. As he spotted Maeva, he hoisted his frame off the ground. Maeva scowled as the Hutt carelessly brushed the crushed petals of the infrared plant from his body.

"Ah...yes, yes!" The Hutt's voice boomed in the night. "I am the great and powerful Justicar! With the power of the Chamber, I will punish you!" The Hutt pointed at Maeva with one of his pudgy fingers.

"You have ruined my night."

Kamjin the Hutt's eyes darted around. "I see you're in awe of my presence. You will come with me now!" Kamjin ignited his lightsaber. The bluish light shone harshly in the darkness. Maeva was seething. Years of rigid professionalism kept her face blank as she approached. "Yes. Very good." Kamjin the Hutt smirked. This was going better than he thought. Maybe he'd get away without having to fight after all.

"You have made the right decision. I'm confident this'll work out for the..." Before Kamjin could finish, Maeva had leapt the remaining distance. Her claw-like nails raked across the Hutt's face. Kamjin's lightsaber dropped onto the forest floor. Darkness retook the forest as his bulging arms tried to grasp Maeva's slender frame. In Maeva's mind, she howled with rage. All the lives that could have been saved with that plant were now lost, and this fool thought he was going to arrest her. Arrest her for what?

"Ge’ off me!" Kamjin's arms struggled to find their quarry. Blood began to run down his face as Maeva's nails dug into his flesh. He bellowed into the night, thrashing his body to and fro. Finally, he freed himself from Maeva.

TOOO-ROOOO!

Maeva looked around at the sound. Kamjin groaned as he wiped the blood from his face. The hair on Maeva's neck stood on end.

TOOO-ROOO!

That one was more distant.

TOOO-Rooo

Another...more distant still. What had their fight awakened?
