Matron_ChuteTown

The Godless Matron is home to many, resembling a micro-society for those who wish to live outside the typical 'rule' of the galaxy. The Lucrehulk-class battleship's massive hangars have been converted into dwellings as a result. Chute Town is the most notable of these makeshift towns. Many shops and storefronts have been constructed to take advantage of the higher volume of foot traffic. In addition, many ships and crews arrive into Chute Town to sell their "well-earned" commodities, weapons, or artifacts. It is commonplace to find the best and the worst gear the galaxy has to offer, it is only a matter of how big your pocket book is. The 'streets' are patrolled regularly by the crew of the Matron itself, leaving would-be miscreants to be more wary, lest they find themselves on the receiving end of a pirate's sense of justice.

It is built mostly out of spare durasteel panels from derelict ships, dismantled machinery, or any other source or material the pirates could scavenge. It spans the length of the massive portside hangar of the Matron, reaching from it's heavily protected reactor — hidden behind triple-reinforced blast doors and a guard retinue — all the way to the hangar entrance where the many incoming ships unload their cargo. It is more than a mile long, over five hundred feet wide and up to three stories tall, covering most of the floor. Chute Town's streets are a miniature maze, weaving in between buildings on several levels. Verticality is key for the masses of shops and bars to operate without interfering with one another. The main street is nicknamed Murder alley, mostly because all the weapon shops are prominently opened there.

Illumination banks are staggered along the walkways and buildings to provide enough light for the society to function. Still, the 'streets' are left dim with a low hanging fog built up from the collective humidity of so many people in one space. For those calling it their home, there is no such thing as 'off hours'. A large crowd bustles along at all hours, an exotic assortment of individuals from countless planets and the warring gangs that divvy up the territory within. It's the perfect place for those looking to disappear in the crowd.

"There is not much of an elevation in this blasted ship," sneered the Zabrak "but it will do fine!" He was perched on top of a gangway almost three stories high. Not only was this place elevated perfectly, but it also enabled him to see almost miles away either way. This service gangway stood handing over the perpetually busy streets of the Chute Town or the Vertical city, as it is known alternately. Fortunately for the Zabrak, he was veiled either way by some worn out clothes left to dry.

Busy it was, with numerous shops on both sides of the streets selling a myriad of goods. Many were seemingly offering services as well, both legal and illegal. These shops were being run by those of many races, although Humans outnumbered the rest. Higher up, on the second and third floors of the streets, which is as high as anyone can go due to the hull of the ship itself, there were several shops as well. Crimson, cerulean, azure and emerald light came from these places, no doubt throwing reflection on some shady dealings going around there.

He was on the lookout for a certain Force User named Kylex. Reports said that he was last seen at the Chute Town, although the report was a week old. However, it did say that this Kylex was from Scholae Palatinae, that he was eccentric to the point of being deadly. With the Iron Navy and Legion hitting one clan after another, many chose to go underground for the time being. Others chose to stay back and help out their clans. Chute Town is the perfect place for both. However, it still needs to be seen if this Force user was operating covertly against Taldryan or not. Thus, Thorn's orders were only to keep an eye on him, and not to engage the target unless he deals against he is acting against Taldryan.

Thorn had come to the ship at least 2 days ago, but found no sign of his target. As today was the third day, he kept his fingers crossed. Using his macrobinoculars, he made his 10th attempt to find the guy in this irritating crowd of criminals. No result. Slightly disappointed, he started to call on the Force to sense out the target. If he was nearby, he would search him out! Inexplicably, he sensed something. It was faint, but the presence was growing stronger. Perhaps Kylex was coming in his direction after all.

“This would be a good opportunity to see what he’s up to.”
