Ilum Crystal Cave

On the planet of dangerous myths, shocking fables and unspoken legends, there is also beauty. Dispersed around the untamed world are flaws; cracks formed through thousands of years. Glacial rivers rushing and destroying cliffs, racing and scooping away the soil and digging crevices untouched by all but a handful of explorers from ages long past. Isolated at the southern tip of Ilum, this particular ravine is close to the planet’s core. No-one ever dared to dive directly down into the darkness of the ravine, instead opting for laser drills that bore a tunnel into the nearby glacier. Uncharted and unexplored, this passageway is a place of nightmares for those who venture to its depths. The half-eaten carcasses of explorers who have met an untimely end litter the ravine’s descent—a warning to those who might choose to venture too far. Whether these men and women fell to their deaths, or had been murdered remains lost to the long-forgotten histories of the ravine.

The antechamber of the Crystal Cave is wide and cavernous with a winding walkway carved out of the stone itself and smoothed over with glacial elegance. The pathway ascending upwards to the top of the cave where a resilient sheet of ancient stone weathers against the raging winds from Ilum’s winter skies. At the base of the walkway is a platform of old stone used for meditation in times past.

Leaving the main antechamber leads to other tunnels carved and abandoned by miners and treasure hunters. Glinting like candlelight against the unforgiving darkness of the deep and untrodden cave, translucent clusters of kyber crystals crystals reflect the light. Untouched for a millennia, the value in this chamber once sparked an entire battle between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. The sides of the cavern stretch vertically, terminating in a vaulted arch that was carved with embellishments some time ago. On each side of the walls, various ports and alcoves distinguish in the light. Some are known to be rivers of purified water, as displayed by the translucent sheets of ice glistening along the alcove walls.

Revs stared at the many crystals that would pulse with light and then fade. Although he couldn’t truly see them, the auras they produced were something akin to a glorious light show. He smiled briefly as he watched. These crystals were the reason the device on his hip worked. Suddenly though another presence entered the area. Revs quickly unclipped his lightsaber and waited. A series of thumps landed on the wall furthest away from him.

Keiji repelled down the cliff face side till he reached the stone platform. Although he couldn’t use any of these crystals, the clan could. The path here was dangerous and it would be easier to bring the crystals out rather than bring people here. As Keiji released the rope from his hands, he noticed the figure on the other side of the room. The Togruta rolled his eyes. Best ignore him unless he acts. I’ve had enough with jumping to conclusions and suffering for it, Keiji thought as he started to break off crystals.

The sounds of stone shattering rang in Revs’s ears as the aura around the new figure came to him. Unsure of what to do, the Miraluka slowly approached him. Might as well try some of the things my master taught me, Revs thought as he was now within a few meters of the hulking figure.

“You will leave this place,” The Miraluka suggested calling upon the force. He waved his hand and strained to place the thought in the Togruta’s head.

Keiji simply turned and looked at the other person here. He smiled beneath his helmet’s faceplate and started to laugh. “Look, that thing doesn’t work on me, alright?” Keiji said assertively having his attention focus back on the crystals.

“You...will-” was how Revs got before the Togruta drew out a slug thrower and pointed it in the general direction of the Miraluka. Both figures paused there like that for a moment. The lightsaber in Revs ignited to life, the emerald blade shining much like cavern.

“Know I do believe I told you that doesn’t work on me. Perhaps you need to listen more,” Keiji growled, now halting his collecting. He waited for the other to act. He didn’t want to escalate this more than he needed to.

Revs dashed forth at the towering figure, hoping to surprise him. Keiji almost didn’t notice. Only his peripheral gaze was on the other male. Had he not suddenly entered Keiji’s sphere of echolocation, he probably would have died. Shots rang out as the Togruta turned and fired near the feet of the assailant. Three bullets bounced off the ground near the Miraluka’s feet.

“Are you certain you want to do this? You still have time to back off” Keiji offered as he kept his gaze on the now still Knight.
