Competition: [Arcona] Selen Development Phase 3: Locale

Finished
[Arcona] Selen Development Phase 3: Locale

For this month's locale creation challenge, we're going planetwide! After the recent War and the fun we all had messing with the Clan's possessions, in this case, the ground forces, a certain issue came to light.

Where are all these people stationed when not out kicking tail?

This month's locale creation competition is centered on military installations. Forts. Bases. Secret bunkers. Garrisons and outposts!

What we're looking for this go around: A name for the installation. An idea of where on Selen it might be located. Base layouts.

Bonus fluff stuff you can put in: Area of operations, is it a garrison that protects a city, does it patrol, is it a secret base for the Consul and Proconsul to fall back to as the surface is razed by the Iron Throne's fleet?

What we don't want or need: NPCs attached to it, no base commander, no plucky recruits, no personnel, please. We have a metric butt-ton of military NPCs that are currently homeless. Think of the poor, cold troopers and officers. They need a home.

You are allowed to submit more than one venue (and we encourage it!) for consideration, though you’ll only be able to place once, of course.

Grading will be determined by the most interesting, well thought out, and descriptive writing.

Note, this is not a fiction, this isn’t about telling a story, it's about what you see walking up to, and inside, of the locale.

Submissions may be in pdf or .doc form, or textbox submission. Wiki coding is not required, nor will it influence the scoring.

**Arconan Military Parade Grounds**

*Estle Training Base*

Just outside the outskirts of Estle City lays a moderately sized Arconan military eatablishment. The Arconan Military Parade Grounds was used to hold events for the Selen denizens. These colorful and skillful displays of military prowess were of duel purpose, to recruit from the surrounding population and improve the natives' opinions towards a foreign military establishment on their doorsteps. Where once the proud color guard had been stationed, more 'official' troops have been housed. After Satsi Tameike became Consul, the Parade grounds was repurposed into an additional training base and barracks.

The Parade grounds are mainly comprised of a large field. Its neatly trimmed turf is permanently dyed an array of vibrant colors, the powdered pigments painted into the soil from several seasons of rain and festivals. The rainbow soil unfailingly finds it way onto the uniforms of the soldiers stationed there, nearly impossible to completely remove. Training equipment and obstacle courses have been installed around the edges of the field in order to condition the endurance, athleticism, and strength of the troops. The bleachers that once sat spectaters have been removed, their duracrete foundations providing a base for new barracks and other buildings. The few barracks that already stood on the premises were expanded on to increase the he number of troops housed there. A meager fence that previously ran around the parade grounds was replaced with something taller, more intimidating, and included a solid guard station to its entrance. The quick renovations to the base had removed much of its former glory, however, nothing will remove the painted canvas of pride and boldness left upon the very dirt.
