Competition: Warning From the Past

Finished
Warning From the Past

While exploring the ruins on Inos Thirteen you find a strange message carved on a tablet that seems to relate to the history of the creatures we have found and the attacks, possibly left long, long ago by others that found and drove off the beasts.

In Haiku or Quatrain format, write the message found from the past that details the account of a previous invasion. Poems must be at least four stanzas to qualify.

Beware traveller
Danger lurks all around you
Fear the Dark unknown

Betrayal, Strife, War
The Darkness descends on you
Death comes on swift wings

Biting teeth, sharp claws
Terror, wailing, blood, gore, death
The Darkness draws near

The Darkness is all
Ignorance is no excuse
You must heed our words

Oh crud they are near,
The evil beasts are now here,
Run or you will die.

We did try to fight,
But many did lose their lives,
We cannot hold them.

Perhaps we could win,
But our chances are quite slim,
In truth we will lose

I am the last one,
I hope whoever reads this
Will stay away and run.

This is my submission for the Poem comp. I was influenced by the Wraith poem by John Clark and thought the premice of the poem was fitting for the prompt. Took me a while to get my stanzas to align and make sense. I actually had to look for examples of a Quatrain style poem.
