Competition: The Holy Hand Grenade 50th Anniversary

It was 1975. Bell-bottoms were still all the rage, rock’n’roll was entering its golden age, and it would be another two years before the release of Star Wars and the start of a perpetual fanbase rivalry with Star Trek. And in the distance, the cloppity-clop of coconuts could be heard.

Yes, it was the release of Monty Python and the Holy Grail! Action, adventure, and knights who say “Ni”! In honor of this auspicious anniversary year of the cult classic comedy of crusading kannnnnnighits, we offer you, the people, this selection of shenanigans for you to enjoy. No oppression of the lower classes occurred in the making of this competition. Some violence inherent in the system may occur. There may also be a møøse.

• The Search for the Grail (Fiction): Pick one of several prompts — or chain them together — to tell your part of the story with the Knights of the Round Table.
• Lore and Livery (Graphics): Draw your character in a manner befitting the characters and memery of the life and times of King Arthur a la Monty Python.
• Fragments of the Holy Hand Grenade (Puzzle): It’s a Holy Grail themed puzzle. Need we say more?
• The Black Beast of Argh (Browser Game): Defeat pixelated knights and archers in this little browser game.

Note the First: This is merely a thematic container for the competitions. There is no overall container competition placement.

Note the Second: An indeterminate number of bonus points may be awarded in each competition for inclusion of the møøse from the left hand side of the screen in the third scene from the end of the film. We’re calling it the mystery møøse rule.
