Primary reason: Farrin Xies has served the Dark Brotherhood in the role of Consul of Clan Tarentum and Headmaster of the Dark Brotherhood since he was elevated to the rank of Battlemaster. During this time Farrin provided Tarentum six months of steady leadership and guided the Clan through its continued emergence as a force within the Dark Brotherhood. In addition to his duties as a Consul, Farrin also served the Dark Brotherhood as a whole by dedicating his time and efforts first as Magistrate and then Praetor to the Headmaster. It was during this time that Farrin set himself apart from the rest of the Shadow Academy staff and became the unanimous choice to replace Dacien Victae di Plagia as the Headmaster.

Since assuming the role of Headmaster, Farrin has become an integral part to the Dark Council. He has initiated the rewrite of courses and continues to work through the long and arduous process of updating courses that are long past due. Farrin has also demonstrated an exceptional capability to support the Dark Brotherhood on a myriad of other tasks ranging from possessions work to providing feedback on other Councilor’s projects.

Farrin is a dedicated member and leader of our club and his elevation to Battlelord is well deserved. Congrats!

Grand Master Pravus

Battlemaster Farrin Xies has performed above and beyond a traditional Equite Two. Typically our members serve as House Leaders or are just entering the position of Proconsul at this rank. Farrin; however, is not a traditional Equite. Over the past ten months he has served as both a Consul and a Dark Councilor. These positions often fall upon the shoulders of our Elders, but Farrin has proven that he is more than capable to serve among our elite.

Statistically, Farin has served as a CON for six months and the Headmaster for four months. During that time he has organized 4 competitions, co-organized 21, participated in 26, and earned merit awards for both his work in Tarentum and within the Shadow Academy.

Farrin’s work in Tarentum, as detailed by Sarin, focused on maintaining the positive momentum of his predecessor and continuing Tarentum’s steady path of improvement since their days as a House. Farrin organized his leadership with a mix of junior and senior leaders and stabilized a Clan in need of a solid foundation.

As the Headmaster, Farrin has led the major restructuring of the SA by appointing new Professors, releasing the Lightsaber course, releasing the Martial Arts course, releasing the Diablo 3 Primer course, updating the Planets and Moons course, updating the Fist-o-Matic course, and creating and promoting a simple and easy to use error form so members can easily report mistakes and typos in SA courses.

Farrin has served our club in an unbelievable manner and he is greatly deserving of this promotion. Congrats!

Farrin made my job as Headmaster easy. He was a constant source of energy, ideas, and effort focused on making the Shadow Academy a better place. As my magistrate and then praetor, Farrin was involved in just about every decision I made, received every email I sent, and stepped up -- particularly in my final few weeks, as my replacement was being selected (surprise: it was Farrin) -- to effectively run the Shadow Academy when my work obligations left me too little time to do it justice. My tenure at the Shadow Academy would not have been nearly as successful as it was without his hard work and dedication, and I will always be grateful for his help and advice.

Farrin, you’ve more than earned this promotion. Keep up the great work, and thank you!

Primary reason: Farrin's time as Consul of Clan Tarentum was marked by stability and growth. As the unit struggled to find its footing last year, Farrin was a constant presence. Upon ascending to Consul at the end of October, Farrin was determined to take his unit to new heights, and successfully lead Tarentum over the six months he was Consul. Personally, Farrin organized or co-organized some 22 competitions, which included two major events: the first, a co-op event between Plagueis and Tarentum, which ended in mid-November, and the second, March to Dathomir, a 9 competition event advancing Tarentum's storyline over the course of two months. Farrin himself participated in 26 competitions while serving as Consul, and earned a half dozen Crescents along the way.

Through his leadership, Tarentum saw enormous gains in active membership through the two quarters he was leader, with nearly thirty members joining the unit. In that time, Tarentum had four new knights, and hit records in their unique participants in competitions, with forty of their members participating in competitions in January 2016-March 2016, a third more than they'd had before. But beyond that, Farrin was organized and observant, and always knew the strengths, and importantly the weaknesses, of his unit. In one exmaple of his foresight, Farrin had already been addressing his summit on weaknesses in the unit a full week before we pointed out concerns we had. As an active member of the Dark Summit, he was always on top of his obligations to review document and discuss the direction of the Brotherhood.

All in all, Farrin was an excellent Consul for a unit in despearate need of one, and for that we owe him our gratitude. While he has moved on to helping train the Brotherhood's members as a whole as Headmaster, Farrin's time in Tarentum should not go unrecognized, and thus we proudly award Farrin with a Grand Cross!

Farrin gave the Clan a healthy leadership. He recognized the talents of each member of our leadership team, and worked to emphasize the whole. He was a great motivator, and never spoke ill, but constantly reminded us of the great project of restoring Tarentum, and how we might accomplish it.

Each time I wrote a piece of fiction, he emphasized the members, and gave me great feedback. He and Frosty pushed the Clan at different levels to culture and motivate us all to our best. And, in his work with the Shadow Academy, he reminded us that Tarentum has always had a special link to that forum of the Club.

I watched Farrin as an RM, and then as an enviable Proconsul. Some might want to credit Raiju with a rebirth of the Clan of Death, but Farrin put in the footwork. Farrin took us to new heights, and really worked to build a community and a family again. And, in every aspect, Farrin worked to do what was right for the Clan, no matter who believed otherwise. Tarentum is at a crucial point where our activity can sincerely soar if we follow his example and just put ourselves out there. If we act as he would, Tarentum will return to being a powerhouse and a true contender for the crown of First Clan. And, if we rise to it, it will be done in his footsteps.

Farrin is a leader, a guardian, a mentor and friend. He has been what Tarentum required, and has helped choose a capable successor who can continue that work. Tarentum would sincerely be a dead Clan without him, as opposed to restoring ourselves as the Clan of Life and Death. He is what all Tarenti and Tarentae ought to be.

Primary reason: Farrin plays a role in everything the SA does. Not a single edit happens without his feedback; no new courses are released without his input. As Praetor, the vast majority of his work takes place behind the scenes, and we strive to correct errors and make necessary adjustments so quickly that a lot of work is subsumed into "day-to-day administration" and never explicitly mentioned in public. Over the past several months, Farrin has put in quite a bit of this under-appreciated work: he proofread and edited the updated Graphics in the DB course; updated the DB Basics notes and exam to reflect the launch of the Inquisitorious and also collaborated with Marcus to increase the exam's rigor and reduce its redundancy; edited the Planets and Moons course to correct an a large number of typos; finally, he graded several overdue exams, fielded questions from course-takers and SA staff, and filled in for me during a business trip.

The modern SA wouldn't function as smoothly or effectively without Farrin's efforts. Thank you, Farrin!
