Primary reason

Looking at our Clan and our House before, it is often difficult to find that one piece that holds the puzzle together. An essential component to how Odan-Urr has survived through these last two years, Echo-1 (Or V’yr Vorsa, as I used to call him) is that missing piece. His contributions through the last few years have given myself and those leaders after and alongside me someone to look to for inspiration. Without his presence, it would be impossible to determine where our Unit would stand, if at all. He’s been instrumental towards our efforts of tearing down old foundations to build new structures, stories and bridges. There are few in the Brotherhood that can match the work he has done, without stepping into his former term as Praetor to the Herald, before his last promotion. Maintaining a constant presence on IRC, the mailing list and releasing some of the best reports and graphics the Brotherhood has known, our club would be a colourless place were it not for Echo-1. I have had the pleasure of serving alongside him and watching his rise in Odan-Urr since the time of his return from the Rogues in what now seems like a decade ago.

I have seen his contributions to several projects beyond remembrance. His work with the Armed Forces Restructuring Committee had been a stepping stone to his constant drive to write and improve the Brotherhood’s best articles - those who don’t believe it can have a look at the several featured articles he’s written in the last few months. He’s a paragon of activity and talent, able to surpass the entire Herald team with his brilliantly rendered graphics. Alongside me, he helped to write Clan Odan-Urr’s roadmap for our next five years of fiction and constantly advises me on decisions of value to the well being of the Clan. He’s involved with our members, able to offer a viewpoint that I haven’t been able to maintain for years of working behind-the-scenes. Most recently, he created the Sentinel Network to mirror Tales of New Tython. This project is on a large scale and will shift the expectations of the Club’s membership towards events that are deemed “quality.” Most importantly, he knows when to be serious and when to kick back and relax. That’s something that a lot of people who have held leadership positions have forgotten, and Echo is a constant reminder that there is a time for fun amidst the tasks of leadership.

He’s a leader from the front, capable of dealing the heaviest blows in events without breaking a sweat. I’ve seen him create Battle Plans with detailed and fully-rendered graphics in an almost comic book-like format. This sort of presence and leadership is the reason that I have selected him as the Proconsul of Odan-Urr. His leadership is one that I can identify with, and will serve as one of my greatest assets pushing forward. I have no doubts that he is worthy of recognition at every turn, and that he could very well one day lead Clan Odan-Urr or sit on the seat of the Dark Council.

Additional reasons

Echo-1, or V’yr as he will always be known to me, has a plethora of accomplishments and accolades that others have detailed here. I’m here to tell a little story. A year ago, almost to the day, I joined the Brotherhood and was assigned to the Knights of Allusis under V’yr. While he was never formally my master V’yr became my first mentor in the Brotherhood, offering advice, encouragement and his own unique brand of wisdom on the subject of unit leadership. And as all good teachers do, he gave the gentle push to go beyond my limits, whether it was hoping on a Fading Light run on team in my second week in the DB or stepping up to replace him as Knight-Commander as a mere Padawan.

When the Dark Council speaks of upper Equite promotions they usually refer to impact as the guiding standard; impact on one’s unit, and impact on the larger Brotherhood. Even a cursory glance at V’yr’s dossier and projects will show that he certainly has had an impact on all levels from the Brotherhood as whole, to Odan-Urr, the Knights of Allusis and most especially individual members, like myself. I’ve won Crescents for my unit reports and a Dark Side Scroll for my wiki in large part because of what V’yr taught and modelled for me. I am an Equite and a Quaestor in the first Clan of the Brotherhood at one year since joining in no small part because V’yr and mentors like him I’ve had along the way guided and believed in me. I’ve even taken up graphics as an activity by following V’yr’s tutorials and watching him work his magic during Herald Google Plus hangouts. There is no other person I can think of more deserving of advancement within the Equite ranks. Every time I sit down to write a unit report or mentor one of my battle team leaders, it’s the standard V’yr modelled for me that I try to live up to. On behalf of all the individual members V’yr has impacted and will continue to impact I add my voice to this recommendation. Congrats “Mom”, you truly are one of the best of Brotherhood.

Imagine you are handed the reins of a Battleteam who has a rich and beautiful history. A team that for all intents and purposes is the most active in your house. This is what I walked into with KoA. While Turel was my immediate predecessor, Vyr Vorsa (Echo-1) was the man with the plan. He was the one who took the Knights and made them powerful and a force to be reckoned with.

Most of the team that is here now was the ones that Vyr got to join. He set a standard of activity, and enforced it. So much so that all members knew what I would expect of them before I even sent emails out. They knew that KoA was expected to slog it out in Vendetta's. They knew that they were the spearpoint of activity for HOU. Vyr established this, and Ive only had to follow that lead.

Skip ahead a few months. Vyr is fully active within KoA again. Even with a full courseload he participated in many of the GJW events. During the Battleplan event he personally designed all of the graphics for our submission. That was 10 pages of beautiful art, and story of us explaining our plan in detail as if we were sitting in a ready room. Within days of the war ending Vyr was at it again helping me to design a new base for KoA, as well as fleshing out the remaining bits and pieces of the teams rich history. Hell to be honest, if it wasnt for Vyr, KoA's history would only exist in the memory of its members. I stand on the shoulders of my predecessors. At the bottom I see Vyr holding up the greatness of KoA, and in many ways Odan Urr. I can honestly say that without members like Vyr, HOU would die, and the Brotherhood would take an immeasurable loss. He is the definition of an Equite, he personifies Service before Self, which is what is expected of the Equite class. For all this and so much more (which will be explained by others) I heartily agree that Vyr should be elevated to EQ3!

I don’t think there is anyone who hasn’t seen V’yr Vorsa’s (now known as Echo-1) work. As a member of the Herald staff, Echo has made a number of achievements that the Herald herself will elaborate on. As a member of Odan-Urr, and as a role model for others, he is pure excellence.

Since his last elevation on January 4, 2014, V’yr has participated in 24 competitions, including an outstanding performance in the eleventh Great Jedi War, competing in 8 out of 11 events and placing seventh in Round 1 Graphics, tenth in Round 2 Puzzle, seventh in the Multimedia team event and an amazing first place entry in the Battleplan team event. In terms of placement points, he has contributed 111.9 out of our 252.9 points – more than any other individual, and close to half our total. These efforts were directly responsible for our House placing fifth overall.

In Odan-Urr, V’yr has been a Rollmaster (since December 18, 2014) and a Battleteam Leader (until April 17, 2014, never missing a report), tackling both jobs with enthusiasm, vigor and a good sense of humor. As a Battleteam Leader, he organized 26 competitions, some of which we part of high-profile House events. He fired up the Knights of Allusis and turned them into a promising force of new Jedi, some of whom have moved on to bigger roles (for example, Turel becoming Quaestor of Qel-Droma) and leaving behind a legacy that is still felt today, 10 months later.

He has worked tirelessly on our House wiki, from everything to military pages (most notably, Kota’s Fist) to House events and history – literally too many contributions to count. Without his hard work, our wiki would be in a far worse state than it is today. He has recently commenced a project to teach wiki skills and update 47 articles that need to be reworked, and I look forward to him continuing to deliver results with this project.

He planned and executed the Encroaching Shadows event (seven competitions), which lead into Liberation: Tides of Freedom (17 competitions), which he helped organize. These major House events reshaped our fiction by seeing his Knights of Allusis captured, imprisoned by the Mad King Cy Thuron, and being rescued by Strike-Team Ooroo prior to House Odan-Urr saving their home planet from Cy.

Despite being appointed our Rollmaster fairly recently, V’yr has been in constant communication with all our Journeymen, and has seen two of them Knighted so far. He has also organized a Christmas competition to keep the House light-hearted – something he did a lot of with his Battleteam. He is always talking on the House googlegroup, and has come up with a number of long-running jokes centered around his character, Vorsa, and other Summit members.

In his career as a second-level Equite, V’yr has earnt 32 Clusters of Fire, 8 Clusters of Ice, 7 Crescents (1 Amethyst, 2 Sapphire, 1 Emerald and 3 Topaz), 2 Dark Side Scrolls, and a Scroll of the Master. More impressively, he has been awarded a Seal of Loyalty, a Grand Cross of the Dark Side, and even a sacramental award – the Amethyst Kukri.

With all these achievements and more, it is clear to see why V’yr is worthy of joining the third-level Equites, and I wish to endorse his elevation to that status. Congratulations, V’yr, I hope this is a great present to leaf Vorsa with as you begin your career as Echo-1!

V'yr has been a constant asset for the Herald's office. He was hired on over a year ago to create lightsabers and since then has done a total of 15 and also put together a tutorial on how he does them so that the rest of the staff could practice and learn it. When he wasn't doing these he was completing other various tasks like several report headers, rolling banners, 2 HOU logos, 2 robes for HSH, helped with 2 other robes, and even created us the new female doll that we use for robes. He's participated in several projects, most notably providing inked lines for the Sith and Jedi join form characters. For HOU he put together 4 separate images. V'yr created 3 separate avatars for members as well. Recently he completely designed and completed 2 GMRG accessories. On top of all of that he's also done miscellaneous things to help us out like put together a Herald dropbox to make sure we have backups of our work and minor retouches of random graphics.

That doesn't even cover the biggest asset he's brought to the Herald office: his friendly and quirky demeanor, willingness to show and help others improve, and brilliant advice that he gives our staff and myself on a regular basis. I don't think this recc can do it justice, honestly. He's an invaluable member with incredible skills with a personality that could light up even the worst days. This promotion is well deserved. Thank you for everything that you've brought and done for us and the DB!
