CNS Consul Report #15 - October 28th, 2006

Well, I'm gonna put my homily at the end of the report, since we have more important things to discuss at the beginning.

Total CON Emails: 44

  1. Sildrin appointed Seneschal

I'm a little sad that Sildrin is no longer the QUA of House Ludo Kressh. That's because she's not the Seneschal of the Dark Brotherhood. She's on the Dark Council. Our plan to flood the Dark Council with CNS loyal people is succeeding. It's great!

  1. Malisane appointed HLK Quaestor

This one was pretty obvious. I know there were rumors (mostly spread by me) that Nephets would be made the new Quaestor of House Ludo Kressh. But then I thought that he wouldn't take such a position because it is beneath him.

So, I went with my second choice, Malisane. Malisane is now the 12th Quaestor of House Ludo Kressh. Let's see if he beats my record for continuously serving QUA. That record is 20 months.

  1. Consul competition policy

I thought I'd participate in some of your silly little competitions because I want to support you and because doing things like that are kind of a distraction for me. Honestly little competitions like that are at the core of what the DB is all about. It's not able titles or ranks or anything like that, it's about the activities, the fun.

Anyways, I have participated in the occasional clan-wide competition, but I wasn't sure if I should participate in house-only competitions, because I'm not technically in any one house. So I asked the Dark Council and while it was not encouraged by some (it's the general idea that the CON deals with the "big picture" and shouldn't bother himself with little competitions), it's legally okay.

However, I've put some of my own rules down. I will not participate in BTL-only competitions unless you really nag me to do so. There are a few other restrictions I had in mind but I can't remember them right now.

The other big rule is that if I participate in a competition, it is not my objective to prevent younger members (who might need them) from getting crescents. Therefore, the only way I should ever get crescents from a competition is if there weren't enough participants. If (including me) there were 3 or less participants, sure, give me the award, but if there are (including me) 4 or more participants, don't place me, and give that crescent to someone who really needs it. I know that sounds confusing (to me at least), but I hope you'll figure it out.

  1. Gaming

In last weekend's ICTE, Horus got an amazing 25 CFs, I got 16 CFs, Xayun got 11 CFs, Talon Jade got 9 CFs, Schisca got 3 CFs, and Ruluk Okoth got 3 CFs. Horus got 3rd place in the ICTE. I have stuggled to place in the ICTE. It used to be so much easier. :P

In last weekend's Sunday Tournament, I got 9 CFs, Schisca got 3 CFs, Talon Jade got 2 CFs, and Horus got 1 CF. Schisca and I TIED for 1st place, Talon Jade got 2nd, and Horus got 3rd place in the Sunday Tournament. While there wasn't so much participation, cNS almost swept the awards. That's nice to see.

Xayun crossed the 500 CF barrier last weekend. I am 102 or so (it's actually less but I haven't gotten all of my CFs yet) away from my goal of a thousand.

  1. Dark Voice DSSes

CNS has always been pretty good about having a presence in the Dark Voice. Kat Pridemore, Vladek, and Macron got DSSes for their contributions.

The DV Tribune always asks the clans to submit a little blurb about what's going on in the clan. I did it for two months, and this month I asked Kat Pridemore to do it. I'd like to give different members an opportunity to write the blurb, so in a few weeks I'll be asking around to see who'd be interested in this.

  1. Conclusion

There are people (mostly outside of this clan) who think back to an easier time in the DB. They think back to their glory days 5 or 10 years ago, as if any of that really matters in today's modern DB. In fact, they have not accepted the fact that the DB has changed and that it's not what they want it to be. This is a club primarily driven by new members, and people shouldn't forget that.

I am now about 10 months and 24 days away from my goal of being the longest continuously serving Consul in CNS history.
